Looks like I might be wrong as The Lumineers are coming back to NA for the festival in Montreal on 7/29. Maybe The Lumineers will play NFF on Sunday?
I like The Lumineers, but I would be bummed to have them as a headliner, seems way too vanilla. They were suppose to headline in 2013 though, before NFF could afford to book Beck.
I don't really remember did beck have anything to do with money. I thought i read that he contacted jay and said i want to play.
Jay did a Q&A that year (or maybe the year after), and I remember him saying they didn't initially have Beck, but once the tickets sold out before they put money into advertising, they used the extra cash for Beck. Or something along those lines.

I don't think being a non-profit has anything to do with it though. A ton of non profits (festivals included) spend huge amounts of money on marketing...and they should. I think Newport can do it because they sell out and don't need to spend money on marketing...I bet if they had a hard time with ticket sales they'd start spending their budget on marketing.
Agreed. Nonprofits mimic for profits all of the time. They could turn that money into higher salaries, etc. and still masquerade as a nonprofit. They just can't carry over profit on the books.
Also, since Tom Petty w/ Heartbreakers is probably out of reach for Newport, it is interesting to see Petty's Mudcrutch on the Bunbury Festival Lineup in June. Could this be the way that Newport gets Petty at the fort?

Acoustic Trampled by Turtles. Nice!! Also, count out Brandi Carlile/Old Crow Medicine Show. Playing in NY Fri/MD Sat/NJ Sunday. They are not listed for the Friday NY show, but Dawes is also playing the show in MD and could be the "????" guest on Sunday in NJ.

Definitely Palomino. Such a great album. Stars & Satellites is for sure their second best though.

Yeah, the fact that OCMS and Brandi are playing a show without Dawes on Friday then with them Saturday and most likely Sunday makes it seem 95% certain Dawes will be in Newport on Friday.
