#1 reason Whiskeytown won't happen - people who played with Ryan in the past (before he got "clean") generally hate the guy. Can't imagine anyone but Caitlin Cary would come out for that reunion, but money talks.

I just thought of something today as I picked an album to stream while working at Starbucks...
What if the Ryan Adams' open tour date on July 23, while being sort of in the vicinity of Newport, is for one of the following:
1. A surprise (or one-off) reunion of Whiskeytown at Newport. 2. A surprise performance of 1989 in its entirety at Newport.
Man would I be so jealous if either of those happened and I wasn't there. If either were announced, I'd do everything to get a ticket and be there that night.

I'm so down for 1989.
For me, for that to work, they must have T Swizzle. Her hometown , and a album of her songs. Wouldn't want it any other way.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Previous QC's "+1" (many of ya'll will remember her) has a family member who went to a wedding at which they played. That's how I first heard about them when I was brought back a CD.

Also, their new album is out today if I remember correctly (hence the appropriate announcement?).
Their new stuff is definitely very poppy (old stuff reminds me of a folkier Old 97s). But so far it's been catchy (although my criticism is with their lyrics; they're very repetitive). They're now signed to Glassnote and are being primed to explode.
