You guys are like the Sherlock Holmes and Watson of Newport Folk lineup clues - well done
I can't take credit for the Spotify. We were using that last year, and maybe the year before, so I had good reason to think it would be the same for this year

Im new(er) here so I had no idea haha
This forum has been wonderful though in terms of lineup clues, hype over artists and such! I'm looking forward to the daily schedule, although I know that's still a ways away
I'm getting so down in the dumps about missing this year. I'm committed to Panorama, and very excited for that lineup, but man my heart pulls me to Newport. I wish there was a way to do both.
Just noticed that the NFF website says that music ends at "sunset " each night.
That's interesting, I don't think it was described that way last year. Sunset is typically between 8 - 815pm...
Could possibly lead to a longer day of music. Last year was 7:30
This is same as.. All (non camping) state parks in RI have closed at 'sundown' long as i can remember. As a younger no-so-adult way back when , tested this with many a post sundown Run Forest Run drinking event with 30 of my closest friends. Thankfully we were smart enough to scatter like a Rorschach splatter and were quick on our feet. #noarrests

This was mentioned earlier, but I'm thinking sometime in the next few years we might see Arcade Fire. They like doing special things like this (their "secret" show in Brooklyn among others). Plus having Ben Jaffe on the advisory board I'm sure has something to do with this.
They seem like the type of folks who really respect the roots of their music.
Not saying it will be this year. Not expecting it. But given Jay's account of how long it took him to get Jack White to come after years of buying him hot dogs at SXSW, it could be in the works for the future.
Don't want to get ahead of myself but.. could he be tomorrow's announcement? We have to imagine tomorrow will cap off the week of these major headliner announcements. New album.. this could be the year?

Depends if they remove that last "TBA" tile after today's announcement
My guess is that they'll remove the TBA tile today and leave some surprises for the festival. I could absolutely see Paul Simon randomly showing up like James Taylor did last year.

I've never understood the obsession with Paul Simon. Can someone please explain? Genuinely curious and open. His music has just never done it for me. Discounting S+G

Just means that you don't like him, and that's cool.
Doesn't mean you can't just sit back and understand that people like different kinds of music.

Graceland is a masterpiece, if any album would get you into him it would be that.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Certainly not being sarcastic or a dick but I think if you are saying that you like S+G then you are saying that you like S because really G had little to do with the creativity. Also I think if you listened to Graceland and didn't think that it was groundbreaking and amazingly creative then you are just destined not to like S.

Dude is a legend
That's not what I was asking. I did not say I didn't like him. I just don't understand why he's so high on the list of so many people I know. I enjoy his music, but was looking for reasons that people love him so I can understand better. Thanks for spinning a positive question into the negative.

I'm with you actually, I think Paul Simon is generally overrated. I like s and g and can appreciate some of his albums, but I almost never ask them out. When I see videos of his live performances I can never see myself paying money to see him.
Well, I think we have a pretty great lineup. Not super strong at the top for me, especially compared to last year (not much could have beat last year at the top) but the bottom and mid are very, very good.
