This is BS I waited in the virtual line and when it finally came to my turn it said no more tickets available. Then you go to the page and it says not many left...wtf, so I wait in line again and sure enough it says the same thing. If the tickets are sold out just fucking say so and don't make me wait here for 20 minutes for nothing.
Since they've gotten Roger Waters, Crosby, Stills & Nash before, do you think next year could be the year that Neil Young will play the Newport Folk Festival? I know that back in 2010 Newport Folk had said on Facebook that they've made formal offers in the past, but nothing came of it.

Jay Sweet has said that Newport have had an open offer to Neil since 1968, same with Cat Stevens. I'd love if this was the year we got one or both of them. My only problem with Neil would be him having to play a short-ish set because of the curfew. But I'm willing to make that sacrifice if it means we get the kind of phenomenal sets he was putting on this summer at the Fort

Good point. Though, I felt the same way about Beck, Ryan Adams, and Jack White but they all exceeded my expectations of how great a show could be even with the time constraints. Neil would be something special to see.

Jack White's set was phenomenal I thought. I had seen him earlier that year at Governor's Ball, but I thought his performance at Newport was far superior. When he played Cannon > John the Revelator > Icky Thump and then back into Canon, I was heaven.
Neil Young would be amazing to see at the fort, even if it was just an acoustic set.

Ughhh, I know the wait will be worth it, but it'll be painful haha
I'm really excited to go this year, I didn't get to go this year since my son was born. Unfortunately he passed away at 6 months, but at least he isn't in pain anymore. He was born with HLHS (hypo plastic left heart syndrome). I really needed to go to Newport Folk this time around, as the optimism, warm atmosphere and fantastic artists really is an uplifting experience. Everyone seemed to be super friendly the last time I went, it was the best festival experience I've had.
Sorry for the personal heavy stuff, but I appreciate you guys accepting me since I'm kind of a newbie!
Paste magazine listed their top 50 songs of 2015. It includes many of this past years Newport artists and some I'd love to see next year. Deer hunter Destroyer Father John Misty Dawes Joanna Newsom Beruit Alabama Shakes Wilco Nathaniel Rateliff
David Bowie has a new album coming--can we dare to dream?
I prefer my Neil Young acoustic. That would be great.
So does this mean you're considering coming up for Newport because we can definitely make that happen?
I'm a free agent, so maybe. I think I'm going to use the weekend I would normally drive to Hangout to fly to another festival. (Not the exact weekend, but the time off and away from the fam.). If it works out I'm going to choose based mainly on lineups. This will make all of the lineup drops even more fun.
This is the safest little thread on inforoo. Nubes are welcome and haters just cant get in because we radiate so much positive.
PS quacker just brought up nff and only friday and sunday singles left. That is definitely a record.
Thank you!
This photo I took the last time I went to Newport perfectly sums up what the Newport Folk Festival is all about (in my opinion):
True musicians carrying on and honoring the legacy that George Wein, Pete Seeger, and so many more have fought to keep alive. I can't wait to see who they get next year!
Also, Newport Folk Festival posted something on Facebook which seems like a great idea:
"We're going to be announcing a peer to peer ticket transfer option (at face value) through our ticketing platform. Stay tuned for more information on this in the coming weeks."
I like this option so that fans can safely trade tickets to go to the day they want to go (once the lineups are announced).

Where did you see that? I don't see it on Facebook.
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats will be there again. (Not that big of a surprise, but at least it's something)
I was going to ask when you posted last night, but it was late and I didn't want your scoop to get passed over.
Nice to get an early confirmation though! I called that one at the end of his set
Yeah, I was thinking the same after their set.
I was talking to the keyboard player after their show in Toronto last night and asked if they'd be back. He said Newport was one of their favourite shows.
