I'm really hoping the Dave Rawlings Machine will be at Newport next year, their new album is pretty phenomenal. "Short Haired Woman Blues" is wonderful

When was the last time Dave Rawlings had his own set at NFF? I'm thinking he is due, and he is originally from RI (North Smithfield).

Recommend checking her out if you haven't. I believe she played last year at one of those showcases (Wildwood maybe?) and I wouldn't be shocked to see her get a proper set next year. Signed to Third Man Records. She's had an interesting couple of years. She was in a country-rock/soul band called Buffalo Clover that I saw open for the Wild Feathers about a year and a half ago, then they broke up and she started playing as Margo Price & the Pricetags, and now it appears she's dropped the backing band. This song's really nice though. Nice to see the rise in throwback country acts.
Could next year be the year that Bruce Springsteen plays Newport? To quote the article above: "“Look, has Bruce Springsteen been asked? Every single year,” Sweet reveals."
News also broke this week that Springsteen is working on a solo album and that there will be a subsequent tour to follow. Perhaps we could get Bruce solo?
Yeah I loved all the quotes from the musicians. It just makes me feel even more justified in my love for Newport. Also I just remembered that I'll be 21 for the fest this year, which means AFTERSHOWS! Super pumped. Want to do at least one Deer Tick and one theater one, hopefully more but just depends on finances
I am betting on Bruce. The fact that he was specifically mentioned (never heard Jay talk about him before) and that there is a rumored solo Bruce tour this year.
Havent gotten my tickets yet but I am planning on going to the Buffalo show.
See you there!
Seriously? Or is this some kind of Newport thread joke that I'm not in on? Looks like you are from Torontoish though. If so, I will certainly buy you a drink or two.

Lmao, no joke man. Deer Tick is my favourite band. This'll be my 13th time seeing them. Buffalo is only 2.5 - 3 hours away from me, and I've never seen them do an acoustic show. Can't wait!
Some potential hints courtesy of Jay Sweet's Recently Played on Spotify:
Ruby Amanfu Alabama Shakes Passenger Villagers Norah Jones Rayland Baxter Father John Misty Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
Alabama Shakes seem like they might not quite fit the vibe, but I could see Jay bringing them back just because they've played. Everyone else makes sense

Left the first three off because they were just there this year. And I can't see him booking The Arcs but I could be wrong

Anyone catching any of Barns Courtney airplay? <-- k2b?
What is the history on already out but not very known? Seems like those are passed over. In my tired state of mind, seems like NFF goes for little known/up and coming, established, or 'star'. ?? Would Kaleo now fall under established? Bears Den keeps catching my ear. And while i had no need to go see last year, Kurt Vile's pimping tune gets me every time now.
