A lot of conflicts for me and no "unannounced sets" on the schedule. But has anyone noticed a large gap on Saturday between Noon and 1:40 on the Quad stage?Very conspicuous when you look at the rest of the schedule. Hopefully a surprise there. Very much looking forward to the weekend as always, regardless.
That's where the Texas Gentlemen are, guessing they replaced Songhoy last second when they had to cancel
There may not be any "unannounced" acts.. but there is a MOTEL SONG SWAP. I am actually really tempted to skip Ray for this but don't know if I have the guts.. but "In Jay We Trust"??
There's no way I'll skip Father John Misty for it so Friday is the only chance.. I hope someone on this board goes and writes about it because it seems interesting.. also interested in this Prius Tent..
Anyway here is my schedule: Friday: Wild Child > Fruit Bats > MLV > Ray > FOTC > Late Night: Shovels & Rope > Larkin Poe Saturday: Banditos > Amy Helm > John Moreland > NR & the Night Sweats > Ryan Adams > Graham Nash > Father John Misty > Patty Smith > Late Night: Deer Tick Sunday: Be Hungover During BGRC > Kyle Craft > BEER > Middle Brother > Phil Cook > Elvis > Alabama > Late Night: Deer Tick
I know this is super far in advance but Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds are rumored to be touring in 2017 since DMB is taking time off for a new album. What do you guys think of Dave & Tim hitting up Newport next summer? I personally think they'd be awesome!
I know this is from a few days ago and now everyone is on to schedule discussion but I can confirm Dave/Tim will be touring in early 2017 as I already know where/when the local dates are for me from a connect I have in Tim's camp. I have no idea about summer plans though.
They will be in Chicago in January as part of a tour and not just a one-off. I don't know when the tour starts, where they go, and how long it is. Dave and Tim doesn't do much for me so I didn't really ask.
Just joined this board (thanks fawnmart for the encouragement). Looking forward to my 2nd NFF. Wanted to let everyone on here know that I have an extra ticket to both Jane Perkins aftershows (Shovels & Rope and Bob Boilen) and the Sunday Deer Tick Aftershow. Message me if you are interested, and hope to meet some of you at the Fort!

As much as I'd love it, I just don't see any spot for them to play. And the fact that none of them are on the lineup makes it even less likely. Middle Bro. this year, MoF next?
Saw Margo Price and Brandi Carlile in Buffalo last night at Asbury Hall.
Brandi was fantastic, but Margo blew me away. Extremely bummed her and Nathaniel Rateliff have overlap so much in the schedule.
I think I'm leaning towards Margo a bit but I don't know. Nathaniel Rateliff's starting to bore me a bit and his Roo show didn't thrill me, but I'm expecting his Newport show to be a special one, and Margo's touring in the fall while he's not. It's my toughest call of the weekend.
Hey everyone, I'm brand new to this forum so I hope I'm posting in the right place. I was sent over from someone on the Newport Folk Fest Sub-Reddit. Sorry in advance for the spiel!
So, yesterday I got the shock of my life when I received an email informing me I was a winner of the Converse Rubber Tracks comp and would be performing at the 2016 Newport Folk Festival! To say I was excited is just a bit of an understatement; playing the folk fest is an absolute dream come true. B.R.Mackie is my name (if interested, you can check out my stuff at brmackie.com).
Anyway, being so close to the weekend of the festival, and me being a poor musician - I’m really struggling to find any accommodation or camping available in my price range that isn’t hours away from the grounds.
Here’s my plea: Is there any chance a generous Newport local out there or someone staying/camping near the fort is willing to spare a bed/floor space/patch of grass for a tent (I can bring the tent) on the Friday and Saturday nights? Literally ANYWHERE my girlfriend and I might be able to lay our heads at the end of the day? In return, I can offer you and a friend entrance to the Friday of the festival, and most importantly… you’ll sleep easy in the knowledge you’ve made one guys dream a reality!
If you or someone you know is interested in helping a fellow folkie out, shoot me a PM!
Thanks and I hope you all have an amazing time at the 2016 Newport Folk Festival!
Welcome to NFF Inforoo brmackie . We've sent out the bat signal to see what options there might be. I don't know as that there is anyone in this group that is in Newport proper. More in PM.
