I highly doubt we will, but this would be a great surprise. Them closing the grove against J Cole and Lana (or was it Ellie) would be a great end to the night
Yeah, I feel exactly the same, but them playing Newport has me hopeful
As pointed out by somebody on Reddit, some brand new news site is claiming "multiple sources" can confirm RHCP headlining. Take this as you will and with a giant grain of salt.
they are playing in Quebec City the weekend before for festive d'ete, so its possible. Reddit rumors on Osheaga is that they are headlining Friday night of Osheaga, but I don't think thats possible as they never share headliners with the Quebec festival.
Ugh, that's lackluster but they could certainly do worse. Whatevs, I'll probably catch the beginning and then either catch another show or go get ready for a LN show

Isn't it kind of bullshit for them to make a big deal out of "25 years of Lollapalooza" when it stopped existing from 1998-2004? Like if you get married in 1991, divorced in 1998, and remarried in 2005, you'd look ridiculous for celebrating your 25th anniversary in 2016.
False advertising. Open your eyes, sheeple.
"Lollapalooza will be four days this year! (but no music on Friday)"

Kinda, it's technically the 20th Anniversary this year. Also, you forgot to mention Lollapalooza also remarried in 2003... it was the last year as a travelling festival.. since 2004 was cancelled which was a huge bummer..
Upcoming gigs -------------- 6/28 - Dave Matthews Band - Moline 6/29 - Dave Matthews Band - Kansas City 7/8 - Duran Duran - Chicago 7/9 - Summerfest - Milwaukee 7/10 - Sting/Peter Gabriel - Milwaukee 7/27 - Diana Ross - Chicago 7/28-29 - Lollapalooza - Chicago 7/28 - Bob Moses - Chicago 7/29 - The Joy Formidable - Chicago 8/21 - Wilco - Chicago 9/6 - Kraftwerk 3-D - Atlanta 9/7 - Kraftwerk 3-D - Memphis 9/10-11 - LouFest - St. Louis
Would be pretty strange if Lolla shared all 3 headliners with Osheaga this year but with 1 confirmed and 2 still very likely, it looks like that could be the case.

Well, with 4 nights it wouldn't be that outrageous.
Let's talk about what's really important here: Todd Terje and the Olsens closing the Grove.
Last year's undercard was tragically boring. Literally nothing exciting on there that wasn't at plenty of other fests.
That seems to be the m.o. with LiveNation fests these days, though. Book a big top line, then stuff the undercard with easily available acts and disposable festival fluff. It's certainly turning a tidy profit for them.
You just described pretty much every major festival for the last few years. If you want left field acts you have to go to left field festivals.
Anybody have any reason to believe that any of these artists won't be at Lolla? M83, Grimes, Last Shadow Puppets, Beirut, Passenger, and Todd Terje...
I would think the main argument against Todd Terje is that he already played a Chicago date last year at Pitchfork. Same with Grimes and her two Metro dates.

Has there been a date given for when the lineup drops yet? I know tickets go on sale 03/22, which seems kind of late compared to past years (but my memory could be off).
I do remember last year- the tickets went on sale early in the week, 3-day GA passes sold out, then the lineup dropped (leaked?) Thursday night/Friday around 3 AM, so I bought 3 single-day tickets the moment they went on sale Friday morning at 10 AM central. I just can't remember when that week was!
