Lollapalooza 2016 Predictions
Headliners ******************* Pearl Jam Radiohead Coldplay Macklemore and Ryan Lewis- Really hope this isn't the case, but we all know it's possible. Jane's Addiction Lorde Jack U Disclosure ******************* Modest Mouse Death Cab for Cutie Cage the Elephant Weezer Santigold Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros MIA M83 Band of Horses Two Door Cinema Club Explosions in the Sky Chvrches Grouplove Big Grams Bloc Party Metric X-Ambassadors Foals Mac Miller Miike Snow Fetty Wap Sleigh Bells Robert Delong Years and Years Kurt Vile and the Violators The 1975 Big Gigantic Vic Mensa Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats Haim Grimes Silversun Pickups Leon Bridges The Neighbourhood Ra Ra Riot Vince Staples Tobias Jesso Jr. FIDLAR Wavves Chairlift The Struts Atlas Genius Danny Brown St. Lucia Wolf Alice Saint Motel Speedy Ortiz Christine and the queens Alesia Cara ZHU Coleman Hell D.R.A.M
The 1975 won't be in the top 8. This is only their second time playing Lolla. I'm still saying they end up in the same slot that Walk the Moon had this year. Lake shore right before Brand New. In this case, The 1975 will be before probably Blink 182. I'll bet someone a Lolla T-Shirt that 1975 aren't a headliner next year, even with the 4-6 slots being rather questionable of late.
Øya and Way Out West, which always have a fair amount of crossover with Lolla, just announced the first artists on their lineups. I'd be very shocked if CHVRCHES and M83 don't show up at Lolla now. Also, Jamie xx is playing both festivals, so I'd say that makes The xx fairly unlikely at this point.
Looking at first Lolla this year. Couple of questions. When does lineup generally drop and are aftershows part of Lolla or booked independently. BTW, having seen Empire of the Sun I can't possibly imagine seeing them at 7 or 8 pm, LOL

Lineup usually drops in April (edit: whoops, it was actually late March this year). As far as aftershows, do you mean does your Lolla wristband give you access to them? Because you have to pay for aftershows separately, and prices really depend by venue. Expect the shows to be a little pricier than you might expect for the band playing.

After shows are separately ticketed, but about 80-90% of the bands are acts playing the fest (there's an occasional opening act not on the lineup or a surprise LN show).
Usually the lineup "leaks" a few hours before 3 day passes go on sale, and then the lineup is officially released and day passes go on sale. Late March, early April. After shows and tickets for those are in June.

Alright, time to be that guy again. Or rather, probably blow that out of the water in my stupidity.
Let me begin by saying that is all probably wrong. Also keep in mind that unlike that post, many festival lineups have yet to be released, so we have less to go off of.
That said:
The same guy that claimed LCD had fallen through put them on this mock (keep in mind that I'm quoting him here):
"Pearl Jam + Daft Punk + Radiohead + Guns n' Roses
His explanation: "My logic is that GNR, LCD, and Radiohead were all locked down as part of a top six, with offers confirmed between C3 and the artists, when Pearl Jam and Daft Punk announced avails late in the game. There is no way Lolla would let those two artists slide through other US majors and make them look like the shitty US fest that got left out. Guaranteed to move more tickets = city granted an extra day."

More than two of these might be right, but I think at least two will be there. High hopes for this fest.
Oh would you look at that. Lollaboarder with supposedly legitimate source posts mock that matches up with random Inforooer's information.
Hmm.
Then again I'm probably wrong.
(Rip it apart, etc. etc.)
Don't really understand what this post is saying. It's pretty obvious that the big three are all getting LCD at this point, and if Radiohead is playing any major fest this year, it's Lollapalooza.

Which brings me to these last few posts in this thread.

Just trying to corroborate the information so that we're not just going off (presumably) one guy.
I'm not trying to say that you or anyone else isn't credible by themselves, but the more solid confirmation we have, the better.
So are LCD and Radiohead the "2/8" or are they just that obvious?
If Daft Punk plays any one of these fests, there's no way they don't go unopposed
Lolla hasn't had unopposed headliners in years (if ever?), hell this year they put Paul McCartney against The Weeknd. Even Coachella would have artists conflict with Daft Punk.

Radiohead in 2008 was the last time - also worthy. And I agree, Paul should have went unopposed too!!!

Any interest on a bet re: LCD at Lolla?
Part of me is just tempted to do it to say I've made a bet with Juggs in my long years on this forum.
I get a feeling they won't be back at Lolla so soon. Also I'm selfishly just hoping that since I can't do Lolla this year and would prefer a separate Chicago show.

You mean except for the part where the one guy said only 2 out of the 3 that the other guy said were happening were right?
I don't have any special info about who is playing this fest next year, but I will say based on general info that I think that Pearl Jam is a pretty decent bet (among other things, I'm pretty sure they aren't going back to Alpine where they did PJ20, but not sure they aren't in play for Wrigley). I'd be very surprised, though, not (just) by the return of Daft Punk, which I've expected for a while but thought would happen in '17 rather than '16, if Lollapalooza were the only or even first festival they played this year. I would bet that if they returned next year, it would happen first at Coachella or maybe Panorama. I would also bet that if NIN plays any festival next year, Lollapalooza would be at or near the top of the list, though ACL might top it.

I think people are buying into the NIN too hard. They said they'll be dropping new music, and touring. They just played Lolla, and it was a big return in 2013. My money would be on them just doing a tour run, and doing fests they haven't played in years like Roo, Coachella, and ACL. Pearl Jam makes sense, but that Roo drop makes me think other wise. Since 2010, Lolla and Roo have shared only one number one headliner(Eminem in 2011). It would be silly to have PJ be your number one for your anniversary, and have another major tier fest get the same number one. Maybe I'm reaching here, but it definitely takes away from your fest, because someone had them first. Not to mention, PJ at Roo is gonna be a longggg show, and PJ at Lolla might be 7:45-10:00 at best. Just have to wait and see, I just feel like Lolla has a little more up their sleeves for their 25th.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but hasn't Radiohead been #2 or higher on all bills since 1998?
That's true, but would they be higher if PJ and Elton(or another classic act) were on the bill?
I think they'd be billed below Elton, but I'm not sure about Pearl Jam. I could believe it I they were, but I think they'd be neck and neck.
Either way, the chances any festival books three acts as universally loved and popular as Elton, PJ, and Radiohead are very slim. If any festival can, it's Lollapalooza, but I think it's a stretch even for them.
P.S: If the Lollapalooza lineup is headed by that trio, It'll just have to be gone to.
