houses to rent seem to have gone up this year as well.
AirBnB and short term rentals were mostly indirectly banned by the city via new ordinances. I don't know the exact classifications, but most rentals now have to be at least a month.

That is the law here as well, but NOBODY follows it. It is a big issue in the city because people are losing housing due to AirBnBs.

Same here. What do you mean losing housing? Like they are being evicted/sued/fined to death?
I know there a few good cases AGAINST STR's. It really drives up home prices artificially, drives up home flipping and causes neighborhoods to lose quality in a lot of cases. I don't know how much these arguments are actually a factor.

Houses that were once available for renting are now unobtainable due to the price increases and AirBnBs in a ton of neighborhoods here. So you used to rent 1111 Main St, now you can't afford to because they AirBnB it out and they want some unreasonable, crazy price for the rental or maybe it is because the neighbor is AirBnB'ing their house so the rental price in that neighborhood has just skyrocketed. It is a huge deal here. Plus, the cost of living is much higher than the actual median income, so there isn't many viable options to begin with. People are being forced out of the neighborhoods they grew up in...gentrification really isn't helping either.
It is also technically illegal to AirBnB in the French Quarter, but the landlord of my office building (which is a converted apartment) only AirBnB's the upstair apartment out. It is annoying due to the fact that it is illegal and that we are a business that now has tourists sticking their heads into the office to see what we are, or just walking in and walking around or are just loud, noisy and obnoxious while coming and going. But there is no real enforcement to stop it from happening.

Can't believe that is happening even in NOLA. It's a shame what is happening here in Austin. People's taxes are literally doubling and families who have paid their homes off for generations are being kicked out. Even with profit from the sale of their home can barely keep up with the rising costs of homes here.
On a less serious note, who is hitting up weekend II? I have my ticket, but still not sure if I'm 100% down. Im down for all HLers, Foals, Willie Nelson, LL Cool, Haelos, A.Paak, M83, Miike Snow.....bring it. Foals aftershow plz.....
ACL. I'm not too worried, because of lineup we might have to pay more, but there's always tickets available. I drive to Austin no flying if I can help it.

True. Im pretty sure right before the fest they drop a lot as people need to dump the extras quickly.
I'm im for weekend 2, tickets purchased. Pretty sure Tejas is planning on it as well, just no tickets yet. And I'm working on convincing my friend/will be roommate to come with us too, again just no tickets yet.

I'm buying two single day tickets for the first weekend. How early will I have to be at the main stage to get front row/really good spot for Radiohead? Best Food? Quality of fest?

I'd say at least one artist set before. Also depends on who pre HL. If it is something w a similar fan base (maybe, Cage or Pete Yorn...this is all I can think of off the top of my head) then probably well before that.
If is Kygo before RH, then you may be able to wait til the end of Kygos set. I got up front easily for the Cure in 13 because Passion Pit was booked before them, and the Exodus of 15-23 year olds made it easy to get up front.

If you want to be in the front row you'll probably have to be there when the gates open and sprint to the stage.
Band of Horses are doing an ACL Live taping Oct. 2 and Margo Price is also doing an ACL Live taping Oct. 3, to go along with Foals' ACL Live taping on Oct. 6.

Rumor is Lyft will be coming back. I haven't used it yet but I'm told Fasten is pretty reliable, growing and cheap. Car2go is working on a drop off point. Buses drop off downtown, then there is a shuttle. Plenty of bike racks. I actually enjoy the walk from downtown through Barton Springs road before the fest. Stop by Uncle Billy's for a brew.

I'll have to look into. I hope lyft comes back. They were much easier to use than uber last year. We always stay out north of town to save money so it makes some of those options more difficult.
I've never had an issue catching a ride, but I park in that neighborhood at the top of the hill (hether and bluebonnet) there's this woman with Austin rides on the back of her gold suv (I have her number in my phone also). She doesn't charge just asks for what you think it wasn't worth. We usually throw her a ten and she's cool. We've caught a ride every year from her. After the cure in the pouring ran we threw her a twenty. Totally worth it.
What about parking? My buddy and I are coming into town for weekend 2 and will have his car. I'm hoping there's good parking near Zilker or a lot that has a shuttle.

I usually park at the Long Center for the Performing Arts between Barton Springs and Riverside. It's a brief walk down Barton Springs to the park and you'll pass good spots to get coffee, food, or drinks. It's $20 or maybe a bit less. Most places just a few blocks ahead charge around $40.
The Capitol building has 2 free parking lots downtown if you want to walk for awhile, stop for a drink downtown before hitting the fest. City Hall also has decently priced parking and often free. It's been a few years since I've attended so I'm getting excited.

The top of the hill at Bluebonnet and Hether are free neighborhood parking. Downside is the walk uphill back to your car, but it is not too far of a walk. You just have to make sure you don't park in the residential only parking neighborhood.
We also found a parking lot that under the bridge that is open to the public, you just have to walk across that long ass bridge. I think it is near a trail or something, my girl that lives there like to park in that location.
Also, Barton Springs is an amazing place to dip and cool, but they're strict AF if you try to park in their lot while wearing a wristband. I brought two friends that flew down to go to ACL to Barton Springs. Even though I clearly didn't wear one because I was attending the fest, the attendant wouldn't let us into their lot because at least one person in the vehicle did.
