What about parking? My buddy and I are coming into town for weekend 2 and will have his car. I'm hoping there's good parking near Zilker or a lot that has a shuttle.
I usually park at the Long Center for the Performing Arts between Barton Springs and Riverside. It's a brief walk down Barton Springs to the park and you'll pass good spots to get coffee, food, or drinks. It's $20 or maybe a bit less. Most places just a few blocks ahead charge around $40.
If you go up the hill from there (Bouldin and Barton) into residential there's plenty of free, unrestricted parking. There's also signed residential parking but it doesn't take much driving to find the free stuff (especially after Friday). During SXSW they were blocking off access to those streets from Barton Springs but you can get in there off of other streets (I want to say S 1st but can't quite remember). During SXSW I parked on a little residential side street at the corner of Lamar and Treadwell. It always had room and there's no signage. It's just under a mile from the park and takes you by a McDonald's and convenience store in case ya need to snack up. There's also residential parking off of S Lamar in that same area. Anyway, those are a couple free options I discovered that worked well. Only dorks pay for parking.
Edit: None of these spots have been tested during ACL so it's prob best to assume I just dispensed a bunch of bad advice.
I'll throw down a map next time at work with nothing to do. There are options but ya def have to be cautious. One year I parked a block North of Whole Foods at the REI parking garage for free. Nothing happened. 20 minute walk but its a pretty trek through downtown.
Whatever happens, expect at least 20 minutes of walking but that's part of tgebfun. There's a Kava bar on Barton Springs for those who want your tongues to go numb drinking some mud water.
Twenty minutes of walking is worth it if it's free. That's nothing compared to how far I've walked for some festivals.
Agreed and it is an easy walk where there are multiple bars and restaurants to pre game at. The power plant has become fully accessible multi use facility with bars and work spaces so you don't have to make the awkward walk across Lamar.

We walked by that place last year trying to get out of the service black hole to get an uber. I didn't even know that's what it was (if it was that last year I mean). Pretty dope looking building.
Side note: my three longest walks have been from gulf shores to orange beach after missing the shuttle and losing my phone; from city park to Esteban's house I'd say; walking in a giant circle for an hour trying to find my campsite one night at Bonnaroo 2014 and giving up and being adopted by some fellow Roogoers who let me crash on a blow up mattress under their EZup until I got my "bearings" back.

Actual lol. At my first hookahville we let a dude crash in a chair at our campsite for the same reason. Though, hookahville is MUCH smaller, maybe 4,000 people and this dude was gooooone. In the morning he told he watched a guitar shaped sunrise, he was special.
Also, I parked at the Trader Joe's garage last year and it wasn't bad. I got a pedicab there Bc I didn't want to miss a set, but the walk back wasn't bad at all.
This is random, but there is apparently a band called 888, which also happens to be a fine Austin eatery for Pan Asian cuisine (open til 3am) Fact of the day.
Whaaaat? Flying Lotus > Radiohead instead of M83 > Radiohead???
You can always hear the band on the opposite stage on that side of the field between sets at the stage you're at. I haven't looked for a map since I'm on my phone, but it could be M83 between FlyLo and Radiohead, or it might be Flume. The schedule layout makes me think it is Flume, though M83 would be a better lead in. Last year deadmau5 fans on the rail were complaining because Bassnectar was on the opposite side if the park right before mau5.
preface by saying I'm a weekend 2er, and yeah, it all kinda of fell into place nicely for me.
They really stacked Friday, in terms of my tastes (also notice Willie was originally Friday, but now he's on Sunday) but that kinda sucks considering Radiohead is the nightcapper. I would have greatly preferred them on Saturday, which is a deadzone to me.
LL Cool J, Anderson.Paak, Conor Oberst. I've seen Kendrick twice already, I suppose I'll see him a 3rd. Any recommendations to fill that day out?

flylo vs die antwoord sucks but ill take flylo into flume. sunday feels dry as fuck. willie nelson is the only big draw and that comes at the price of missing Miike Snow. wtf acl swap Miike Snow with young the giant or haim and let one of them play the main stage vs willie.
