It's Thom's bday on Friday and i bet they play How To Disappear Completely since it's apparently his favorite RH song. Plus it's their last show of 2016 and they may throw in some zingers to make it extra special.
CASINO EL CAMINO!!! I can NEVER remember their name. I was trying to think of their name, but couldn't for the life of me come up with the name. It's a cool little place. Shows scary movies and has gargoyles and Tiki Totems decorating the place. It's really, really good and really, really cheap. One of my favorites.
They're non-transferrable /: my dad is going to use them if i can't but i'm thinking i can talk my shift lead into letting me out early that night.
as long as they're not going to waste!
The email says 3200 entered. Band of Horses taping email said 4400 and plenty of people still got in through will call. You could probably do that easily. Just gotta be there by 6:30ish-7.

Word. I don't much like regular 6th Street, but this was an exception. Some of my native friends took us there over the years. Last time I went was Friday ACL 2013 after Muse. I fell asleep at a table waiting for my burger, but luckily they didn't throw me out. I think I got like avocados and roasted green chilies. Fucking 3/4 pounds. Haha.
I'm flying solo to the festival this weekend and have an extra ticket for the taping, you can have it if you'd like Hermonie! Lemme know.
OHHHHH! I may take you up on that!! Depends on what time Tejas is getting in. What time is the show? I have a school meeting until like 8, but I could maybe skip it.

The show starts at 8pm, but it seems like one of those deals where the earlier you get there the better. They can't guarantee admission after a certain point, even if you've won the passes. I was planning to go into the show around 6:30ish in hopes of getting a good spot since this will likely be the only ACL taping I'll have the chance to do seeing as I live halfway across the country and don't get to Austin with much frequency.

Ahhhh, gotcha. I've never done an ACL taping either and I will probably be moving from Austin next summer. So this may be a one and only for me as well. I will keep you posted for sure. I just gotta see if my meeting is skippable and when my friend will be getting in Thursday night.

do you really not know the answer to this?
i mean i think my opinion of it will end up being a lot more positive than most inforoo posters, but i still want to know how others like it
It was good.......I was too excited that LCD was in an hour, so it was more like a fun way to kill time. Porter stage is RIGHT behind LCD stage ,so I could watch most(50 min of hr set), and still get a KILLER spot for LCD. Helped a lot of peeps were at Mumford also. But..........Porter + Madeon didn't blow me away, but I thought for their first show, they sounded solid together. looked like they were having a good time bringing it too.
CoS gave Local Natives the "Next Band To Headline" review. What do y'all think? While they can be easily tossed into the massively crowded category of indie/alt, I do feel they have offer more than their peers. Their previous ACL gig was maybe 2012 or 13 and they were very impressive. Plenty of energy and talent abroad. I just don't know if there is enough to pull them above the threshold and past acts like Cage the Elephant, Young the Giant, Fitz n the Tantrums ect. I will see them this Sunday for sure.

They played it last night actually, for the first time since their first show of the tour this year in Amsterdam.

I believe it, I love them. I am contemplating whether I should go see them here on Friday. I saw them at a small venue here in 2013 and then again at ACL that year. There are a not to miss show for me.

I love(d) Local Natives, but their new album was such a blunder that I can't see them headlining unless it starts receiving a lot of attention (which it hasn't so far).

Local Natives appeared to be on a trajectory that would give them prime billing spots by 2017, but the new album absolutely flopped. The album peaked at #23 on the Billboard 200, with no singles getting much airplay, and was knocked off the chart after just one week. Can't see them being higher than a 3rd line band at Coachella. Probably 6th line or lower at Bonnaroo.

It's ironic too given that the album was clearly aimed to be more radio friendly and appeal to a larger audience.

Yeah, that's what surprised me about its poor performance. Although, it's worth noting that many of the albums released by other fairly well-known "indie" rock/pop artists in 2015 and 2016 have also done poorly. The most recent albums from bands like Passion Pit, Young the Giant, Cage the Elephant, M83, and Band of Horses all charted significantly lower than their previous releases. It seems like the wave of indie rock/pop has passed.
Ok, so I am not the only one who feels under-whelmed by Sunlit Youth. There's a couple songs I like, but everything feels electronic and very shallow. I recently listened to Gorilla Manor for the first time in years, and it is clearly better and more powerful than SY. One of the main faults seems to be the move to what sounds like an electronic drums which just has no force/power/energy to it. I don't see how this album would lift them to HL status or even really move them up much further in billing. I'm still excited to see them and according to CoS, the turnout and audience participation was pretty massive.

Ding ding ding.
Ironic though because ACL seemed mostly made up of 2011 indie playlist fillers. I was honestly surprised how many people showed up to those sets too. Like damn, this many people still listen to Young the Giant? Maybe it's an indicator of what kind of audiences festivals are pulling these days and why these lineups have gone so stale.

True, Passion Pit is downgrading the size of the venues they're playing on their next tour.
I'd say Local Natives, based on their first two albums, were better than most of those bands, but their new album was such a disappointment it's making me reevaluate their entire career.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad album. Just very underwhelming given the critical reception to the first two albums.
