Give me the skinny on this fest. How fast does it sell out? How late does the music run? Good after shows? What's the 411.
Definitely not a late-night fest, cos music gets cut off at 10, but usually the music starts before noon. I think they used to allow it to run later, but the city changed the regulations. The first weekend sells out first, though it's definitely line-up dependent as to how quickly that happens. Last year, the first weekend sold out pretty quickly, but it's not like a one-hour or even one-day thing, so you have some time. Plus, by-day tickets usually go on sale significantly later on, so that gives people another opportunity to buy. There's a ton of (pricey) "late-night" shows that more often than not have some conflict with headliners, but they're full non-festival sets, so it can be a good opportunity. There's definitely some sound-bleed if you go to a show on a smaller stage (the "Austin Ventures" and "BMI" stages are usually the most problematic for me). Still, overall, it's a cool festival and I'm bummed that I won't make it out this year for the first time in a while.

I made this prediction back in January. I think I'm going to stick with it except I originally had Macklemore and I'm replacing him with J Cole. I think Macklemore fell off a little bit. Also I think its totally possible Radiohead is the number 1 but I'm gonna stick with the more out of the box guess
Beyonce*Mumford and Sons*LCD Soundsystem Jack U*J. Cole*My Morning Jacket

I would hold out for Radiohead. I feel like them and LCD are shoe-ins, no idea on the 3rd. I don't think Mumford has done anything this year have they? So I doubt it's them. And Beyoncé I think isn't likely Bc she's on tour and already goes through Texas by then. Granted, no Austin date, but that's also because Austin doesn't have a big enough venue for her by herself. Idk if she'd come back through a few months later for a fest.
I also have no idea who to think could be the single weekend acts. The past two years I've preferred weekend 2 line up over weekend 1, so I guess we'll see.

Four days. Crazy speculation with no substance all over reddit but I still believe LCD and Radiohead will round out the two of the spot and maybe a Mumford/someone else. Its's weird Drake/Future are skipping Dallas/ATX/SA for two dates in Houston. Id say they were shoe-ins if they both weren't here last year. I'm hoping LCD lands on Sunday on weekend II since I'll be at Utopiafest on Thurs-Fri-Sat. I don't see them as a closing act this late into the fest season.

Radiohead has never played ACL fest before. I would be shocked if they didn't play this year. I'm still curious if C3 was able to get them to play two weekends, because I can't think of any fest that has been able to pull that off, seeing how very tight Radiohead's schedule is.

Yeah I was told yesterday about Radiohead playing Mexico in between the ACL dates, so that makes them basically a lock. I'd put them as my number 1.
I originally guessed Mumford and Sons because they came through Texas last month but skipped Austin. Dont know if they'll be touring around then or anything though.
MMJ I think could really happen. Played a few times before and they are coming through tomorrow to do an ACL taping yet they don't have a proper Austin show (as far as I can see at least). not sure why they wouldn't since they are on tour. Maybe I'm just being hopeful there. But if I can see Radiohead, LCD, and MMJ as my three headliners throughout the weekend i'd be ecstatic

RH & LCD are locks. I think they're spots 1 & 3.. I think MMJ would be like 4-6 on the line up. Maybe a HL on their day? But I'd place the at like 4 highest, 6 lowest. The idea that I have no idea who the third proper HL is is sorta exciting! It'll be either really awesome or anticlimactic. Idk which way I'm leaning. Lol

SO... Last year C3 created a new music festival that takes place in Monterrey called Live Out, and this year, it's second edition will take place on October 1st, and it's supposed to share 1 of the ACL headliners (last year they shared The Strokes), and considering that Radiohead will be playing in Mexico City on October 3rd and 4th, I think it's a safe bet to say that the band will headline ACL on friday September 30th, then headline Live Out on Saturday 1st, then the Mexico City dates and then back to Austin for friday October 7th.
A j.Cole headline set seems inevitable. Radiohead and LCD would be enough for me to want 3 day passes this year. Would probably just camp at their stages all day and be near the front row and split whatever 2 headliners (prob j.Cole & a dj) are the other day, possibly leaving early for an aftershow.
If you guys got Radiohead and LCD, does it really matter who else is playing? That's the best headliner combo I think anybody could ask for this year.
Well, yeah - if you like decent undercards. Primavera got Radiohead and LCD, but then also got one of the best total lineups I've ever seen. Meanwhile, Lolla got Radiohead and LCD, but the undercard is boring and uninspired. So I think it matters, at least depending on what you're looking for.
I mean, yeah Primavera is pretty damn incredible.. But just those two acts together I think is pretty incredible in and of itself. From my perspective, the LCD shows at Webster Hall sold out in seconds and went for $500 a ticket in the second hand market. The cheapest floor ticket to Radiohead at MSG is going for $350. An ACL ticket is $255 and you might get both. Thats awesome; anything beyond that is just gravy.
I would bet those LCD tickets stop going for such ludicrous amounts after that, "new", has worn off.
Plus a full fall tour is coming. So ya, considering that there are other options for seeing one or both of those bands, together or separate, festival or not, undercard will make a difference. Like, I'd love for this lineup to be significantly better than Lolla's so I can get my Radiohead fix at a new fest, so I'm looking forward to seeing the lineup Friday.

Thursday* Let's not go adding days.
And yea, as this is the only fest I can do this year the undercard is very important to me. Bonnaroo's undercard is a bunch of recycled stuff that I've seen already and other things I have no interest in. HLs are great, whoever the third is will just add to it, but paying $250+ for a ticket isn't justified by just the top line for me.
I have a feeling that like Lolla, this festival will get Halsey'd two years in a row. I didn't see any Austin dates on her tour (which seems to be over by then) and C3 clearly is getting a good deal on her considering her they got her while she was really popular last year for not nearly as much.

She's playing New Braunfels in July. (Idk where you're from, but it is really close to Austin. Its the last city just outside of SA.)

Radiohead would be number one if they're on this bill. They're number one everywhere else.
So Radiohead-RHCP-LCD, with some strong undercard makes this another strong lineup in a rather disappointing 2016 fest year(save Lolla, Chella, SK, and any Euro fest).

That's what I said. "RH & LCD are locks. I think they're spots 1 & 3"...I meant RH would be #1, LCD would be #3. I really hope its not RHCP as our 2... I didn't even know they were touring right now.
Someone mentioned The National in another thread. They'd be nice. Though not sure if they'd be a top 3 act... I'd throw The National in with what I said about MMJ early. Put them as a 4-6 act... so like
Radiohead * <Hip Hop HL> * LCD Soundsystem * The National * My Morning Jacket *
would be a solid top 5. Depending on the hip hop name, they could be interchangeable within that top 5 I guess.

Oh it gotcha. I mistook that RH* for Red Hot. Whoops.

Ahh my bad. Yeah I'm from the Midwest so I'm not familiar with Texan cities
