I just noticed your concert tracker and I'm possibly going to be at the Deftones, too.
Yeah, I'm in on Deftones. Also have Umphrey's, Explosions, Beats Antique with Pres Hall Horns, Cypress Hill, Lettuce & Break Science and most likely Ghostland and then Break Science Live Band. That will really only leave me a possible Civic show or something random getting announced for Jazz Fest after dark - affiliated with the festival or not.
Tedeschi Trucks special guests on Locals Thursday are Jimmy Vaughn and Billy Gibbons. Surely be a buncha Texas blues songs, which could be really cool.
Seriously. What the hell is going with Civic Theater? This is ridiculous.
They're starting to piss me off. I'm already broke as fuck but I want to wrap shit up in the next day or two. I can play with about 150 in tix, and I don't have Ghostland yet. So I'm limited in how many more shows I can hit up during that 11 day run. I'm already missing an assload of shit that is not supposed to be missed. Come on Civic, fuck. Give that lineup up motherfuckers.
Well I emailed Patrick @ The Bowery to find out when they and/or Civic are releasing details on night shows. Hopefully Kung Fu will be passing through one of the days and get a slot with somebody.
Bunch of more stuff out on jazzfestgrids.com Interesting to me was Snoop doing a DJ set @ The Carver Theatre on the second Saturday. DJ Snoopadelic Snoop Dog and Special Guests ($41.99) @ 10:00pm
For shizzle I mizzle gizzle to the Carvizzle
The Werks at Gasa Gasa was moved from 5:00pm til 9:00pm on the last Sunday
There are also 5 or 6 performances of Juju Fest (which is a celebration of African Diaspora in N.O.). I know lots of the musicians if not the music
I'm dying to catch Greyboy somewhere, but I've got Meters tickets on the Friday and doing the London Souls Revue on the Saturday. Think there's any chance the Meters finish before Greyboy's even taken the stage at Joy? Alternatively, think there's any chance Greyboy's first set at Maison on Saturday ends before 1AM so I can make it to Republic for the Souls Revue?!

Not sure on either point. Republic and Maison can sometimes go as late as 5 in the morning. Joy usually shuts down earlier though not always and it depends on starting time. There's really no way to know, but if you play it by ear, you might get lucky. I'm still kicking around what I'm going to do this weekend. I am off on Friday, so I'll be hitting Jazz Fest Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night I'm for sure going to Cypress Hill and hopefully also going to Ghostland Observatory. Thursday and Friday nights aren't set yet, and I'm not doing anything Sunday because I didn't take off on Monday. I'm looking to figure everything out schedule, late show and night transportation wise by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. If nothing else, 2 hours and 30 minutes of Pearl Jam should be great on Saturday. \m/

I'm leaning towards the Greyboy, Vulfpeck, Pimps Of Joytime show at Joy on Friday. Skerik, Benevento, Oteil, and Vidacovich at Maple Leaf is oh so tempting though, as is Galactic. Saturday is looking like it is going to be The Heat at One Eyed Jack's into the 2 AM choice of either Garage A Trois at Tipitina's or Foundation of Funk at (ugh) House Of Blues. Hope to see some of you around. I'll be catching Van at the fest as well as Galactic and choosing between Mystikal or Nathaniel Rateliff in the 3:50 time slot. I'm excited to get back to the Crescent City. I'd be all about that Word show at Joy followed by the 2 AM Boogalooin' at One Eyed Jack's if I didn't have to leave before Sunday night.
Nice. Thinking 12-6am Friday Gravity A bacchanal and as said, Cypress Hill 25th on Saturday and hopefully split Ghostland with da Hill. Chink in the armour is a hot local rumor that PL has contacted some people about doing a secret set somewhere in the WH District or Uptown. No real details on that yet, but I know some people connected to the rumor and will post if it ends up being valid with day, time and place. Pretty cool that most of his band will be in town both weekends and probably most of both weeks. Seems like it would be a DJ set though but probably some private jamming elsewhere here and there whenever he's in town.
Also i will be at the fest FS&S so if we end up crossing schedules at an early show before it gets packed, I'll say what's up. I'll post up my anticipated schedule wed or thurs and you can see if we cross at all.
Friday- Early & late Leftover Salmon shows @ OEJ. Sat- Fest > no late nights
Weds- Fiya > Megalomaniacs Thurs- Maybe drive home and get continuing education credits Fri- Got an RSVP for the Third Mang Records thing/ JRAD > Kamasi Washington Sat- Fest? > Last Waltz
May go to fest 2nd Sat and/or Sun. Maybe not. We'll see how finances look. May stay Thurs if something like Ween got announced, we'll see. Could also end up selling Last Waltz tix, who knows. Not super interested in anything this year.

awesome excited for you to experience new orleans for the first time. i haven't been familiar with the bar scene for a while, but I think the standing french quarter recommendation is by all means walk down bourbon st, get some drinks, experience it, etc., but once you get to tropical isle keep walking until you hit frenchmen street.
EDIT: and get a cochon de lait po boy at fest. see my avatar.
