I thought Van sounded great. I know that a bunch of people left because he didn't play songs that they wanted to hear, but he played a more New Orleansy set and it was great. He did not play "Into the Mystic" and I know that pissed a bunch of people off.
Levitation cockblock'd. Will possibly skip 2nd weekend and go to Austin.
Levitation as a whole is more enjoyable than JF for my tastes. Completely different but f'n awesome.
Aren't they always on the same weekend? They most both run "the first weekend of May." I have to wait to see what the housing situation looks like for me this time next year and if I feel like the lineup is worth it. Most of the time, I go like 4 - 5 days total unless the lineup looks like it did this year (and my daily going was excused this year due to saving money for a house).
I will say, not buying tickets to all the shows I would normally buy at the drop of the hat, managing my budget closely has given me some real perspective. I was spending like $500+ a month in show/concert/festival purchases. I have saved SO much money, hopefully this doesn't deter me in the future once the house is bought and that it only makes me choose more carefully of who is worth it.
Wasn't the same weekend last year when we went because we did both weekends of jazzfest and levitation 3 weekends in a row. Levitation bumped their shit back a week this year I think.
