Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I really hope we get a Ween late night show or two during Yazzfest.
I'm def feeling jaded with festival lineups the past couple of years and plan on not doing as many next year. Wanee, Yazzfest and Voodoo will likely be it. Would also rather not go back to Roo due to feeling old and misanthropic towards the new youth culture and bands. Obv if some epic shit goes down I'll do my best to be there though.
Rather focus on random big shows and saving money for once next year.

Regarding festivals for a few years there I had a pretty healthy regular schedule of Jazzfest, Hangout, Bonnaroo, Voodoo, Bear Creek.
I think I'll always catch a day of Jazzfest, for reasons I've listed before. Hell even if it was just local bands and great food I'd still go to Jazzfest, its just a great excuse to go to New Orleans and be happy busy season is over.
After the first couple years of Hangout it was the first festival where I felt like I didn't quite belong there. I don't sweat being around much younger people that much, I resigned myself a long time ago to being the creepy older dude at shows, but the whole "beach party vibe" and crush of people became a turn off, combined of course with bad lineups for my personal taste. I might go this year depending on my schedule, there are a few acts I'd like to catch, but I'm certainly not chomping at the bit.
I'm open to attending Voodoo again, they do tend to book the more rock-biker/rock-satanic headliners no one else will, but in 2014, as good as some of the music was, I just wasn't feeling the whole setting. Can't quite put my finger on it, maybe similar to what esteban said about Bonnaroo, I just didn't have a great time. And for the money and the energy it takes to make Voodoo happen I should be having a great time. Maybe that's on me, I don't know.
For now I'm still going to go to Bonnaroo, almost regardless of lineup. Maybe at some point they'll release a lineup that is so dismal I just can't justify it (who knows, maybe that will be this year), but I do love the energy of the venue, the late nights, everything. It's the easiest big 4 festival that I can attend, distance wise, and every year I've gone I've had a blast.
TLDR; I like bonnaroo, jazzfest, don't like hangout, voodoo.

Fun Fun Fun tops all others in booking these genres.
Always love the Fun Fun Fun lineup, but Austin is a good 10 hour drive away, just a little outside my usual driving comfort zone. As a comparison Bonnaroo is a 7 hour drive for me. Not saying I'll never go but the distance makes it less likely.
So says the guy who drove 15 hours once for a single Phish show in 2009, and has driven 12 hours multiple times for Phish Carolina runs, and has flown across the country multiple times for Phish festivals. I guess I have my priorities.

Word, I've been to every Voodoo, Hangout, & Jazz Fest since 2007 (with the exception of Jazz Fest & Hangout in 2011 when I got married) and then didn't do any festivals this year. I used to just pick something to go to and get presale tickets, but that's getting scary these days. I'll go back to something next year, lineup dependent, but I'm also looking to spend my cash on more Fare Thee Well-type experiences.
I'm still going to hit fests that I like and certainly all the local ones. But I'm probably just going to focus on hippie shit (multi generational) like Waka, Bear Creek, Lock'n, and shit like that.
So from what people are saying, it appears we could have a shot at Jethro Tull who I love and have never seen. Passion Play was always one of my favorite albums, and so was A. A was really an Ian Anderson and Eddie Jobson side project but since everyone on Tull played on the album, they released it under their name. I think it was 81 or 83 and was the album right before Broadsword and the Beast which was also pretty good but no way as progressive as A. A sort of reminds me in a way of Neil Young's Trans album which was with the Royal Pineapple Band. Super up to date for its time, unlike anything else he did, and we loved that album when it came out. That one was right before the rockabilly album with Neil Young and the shocking pinks. I don't personally like rockabilly
Guns and Roses - This is a maybe. It doesn't really fit what AEG brings to the table in the way of headliners at Jazzfest, but I would probably go see them.
Bob Seger. I'm going to refrain any criticism.
Dead and Company - this would be awesome. solidrock said the show was great midweek. I'm not probably going to get to otherwise see them unless Waka goes for them. So I will go the day (if) they play.
Haha. Fuck you bitch. I realize there is crossover between Jazzfest HLs and Gulf Coast casinos. But some in particular I would see either or even though I haven't ever seen a show at a casino.
Can anyone shed some light on the various ticket options? The Grand Marshal VIP sounds sweet but GODDAMN, $1000 a pop?!?
It'd be nice to be up close given how packed some of these shows will be, but my girlfriend and I would be just as interested in some separate bathrooms and a shaded area to re-energize. For that reason, is the WWOZ Brass Pass a better value? Seems like you get a pretty sweet chill area and it's less than half the price of a Grand Marshall weekend pass. Plus I could sell or charitably donate the rest of the pass when I left before the second weekend.

Any info would be awesome! Thanks!
Grand Marshall = front row, standing room only access to most stages Big Chief = Access to covered, seated bleachers at Acura and Gentilly stages (two main stages) Krewe of Jazzfest = Access to covered, seated bleachers at Acura only (track side)
WWOZ Brass Pass - No special seating privileges, but you do have access to the brass pass lounge, which has portos, and a pretty decent spread of fresh fruit and olives, and all the café au lait you can drink. Also in and out of the fest privileges.
I've done the brass pass a few times and enjoyed it, the lounge is pretty dope, great to show up to the fest when it opens and get things started with some caffeine and light eating.
I've never done any of the VIP options but my friends have done Grand Marshal. They enjoy it, but for the big names the standing room only area can get really packed, so you aren't guaranteed a spot by any means.
Yo. Jab and Esteban. Any big shows worth coming over for next month?
I don't really have anything on my radar yet except maybe the Anders Osborne Christmas jam at Tipitina's, but I haven't looked at the schedule in a while.

I love the Brass pass. I would do it every year if I had that kind of money. Plus, what wasn't mentioned is that you can write a percentage off on your taxes because WWOZ is a non-profit organization. When it gets super hot out there, you can slip into the tent, get a free mango freeze and cool off in front of one of their fans. PIMPING.
I didn't realize who you were with the new avatar and username. Nice going.
I felt it was finally worth joining the inforoo masses and getting a proper username and avatar worthy of my time and effort put into the site.
Sorry for excluding you as well. Any shows you know of?
The only shows I have on my calendar for December are Eyehategod at One Eyed Jacks on December 11 and Scott Weiland at tips on December 13. Oh and MuteMath just got announced at Howlin Wolf on December 18.
I don't really know of anything big. Big KRIT is next weekend, and I think Lupe is coming. Anders and Shorty have their respective Christmas shows.
The venues worth checking online are: Tips, Howlin Wolf, The Joy, Civic Theatre, Republic, Siberia, HiHo Lounge, House of Blues, Gasa Gasa, the Willow, Freret St Publiq House, Blue Nile and the Maison. Also probably one eyed jacks. Let me know it you run across anything. Promotions are Winter Circle, Bowery and Huka usually.
esteban, since I'm out for Hangout, might be interested in this. Staying downtown is ideal I'm sure but what would it be like to stay in East New Orleans and ride/cab/Uber in?

...didn't know Weiland was kicking around. Let us know how that is.
Yazzfest is weird, the main headliner makes a difference to me, but I'm not gonna watch all of them most likely. I enjoy bouncing around at Yazzfest and seeing a little bit of everyone and most of people I really like.
I.e left WSP last year for Third World and caught them doing that shit that Brennan sings at the fucking Catalina Wine Mixer and about pissed myself. Came back later and caught the best Fishwater ever.
Would be f'n awesome if Yazzfest got Supernova next year, that supergroup of Santana, Chick Corea etc Hoping I get a chance for redemption to see Wayne Shorter and Pharoah Sanders as well. Running out of old school yazz legends.

I heard that his ATL show was a shit-show. I am very much looking forward to that, especially since it is only $25. You can meet & greet for $251, which is ridiculous.
