I am so bummed that I had to cancel my Austin trip and now I will be here in NOLA and not going to Jazzfest. I am just ready to get into a new house and spend my moneys again! Worst Jazzfest for me, ever.
EDIT: Weekend 1 was amazing between Fuzz, Luva and Ben, its just weekend 2 that is the worst.
Levitation just got canceled. May be for the best you didn't make the trip. I feel especially bad for those who flew in.

Word I got from the hippie neighbors was that Tedesci Trucks Band did indeed bring out Reverend Willie G and Jimmy Vaughn. Also Quint let em do an encore. Heard Gary Clark Jr was also great from an old guy who never saw him before.
Bout to jump in the shower. Show report later. It's going to be a great weekend.

half considering going out for saturday and maybe sunday if the weather in austin is really bad to make up for missing levitation. never been to jazz fest but i do love new orleans. ill think on it
Work will suck at 8 am. However I only have to work like an hour. Went to Rage Fest which Lettuce did at The Masters last year which was broadcast on Jam On when I was in N FL. Show was great. Nigel Hall Band got in a long set. Lettuce was next. They brought out Oteil, Cyril and Nigel Great set and a 180 from the experimental set at Euphoria, just straight to the funk. I'm not judging what was better. Break Science closed out the show with another completely different set, as always. Was mostly hip hop based but some house-ier stuff than they usually play. Still was killer.

Easy start to the weekend. Rolled in last night and met friends at Sucre for gelato. Caught up with them for a while then had an insane hot dog at Dat Dog.
To the fairgrounds soon! Then Kamasi early show at One Eyed Jacks.
Everyone have tons of fun (and some for me), be safe and smoke one for me, since I don't drink. I will be watching and listening at home, spending no money so I can buy a stupid house.
Bout to walk down there now. I'm hoping to catch some of Shamarr Allen & The Underdawgs then Dirty Dozen, Pres Hall Brass, T-Ray the Violinist with Dreams2Reality, Los Lobos performs La Pistola El Corazon, 30 minutes Paul Simon, 10!minutes Ms. Lauryn Hill, finish up with My Morning Jaceket. Chill but quality day. I have light tan shorts on, a grey Tool Tshirt from 2016 tour, blue chucks and a grey cap if anyone sees me.

Cool man. We just left Acura and are at Gentilly now. We'll be here till the day is done. We're kinda back right near a drink stand against the track. Good sound here. If I see a tool shirt I'll say what up.
Also my friend and I fucked up our ticket purchasing and now we have extras for Kamasi tomorrow at 8pm we can't use cause we're doing the last Waltz thing. If anyone wants to purchase them let me know.

Word. I'll blow through there around 615. Got some red beans and rice and ales and just chilling back to Pres Hall Brass in the shade. It's a hot mf today.

how many extra?
I think four, possibly just three, but i can ask him tomorrow morning. Any interest?
Showed up a little later than I wanted to and caught the end of Dirty Dozen who was great of course. Then I walked over and ate and watched Pres Hall Brass. I went over by where Postjack was and tried to find y'all right before Revivalists, but it started getting packed and I wanted to make sure I made it for T-Ray the Violinist and Dreams2Reality. They did a nice Jean-Luc Ponty cover and also a Purple Rain. Pretty progressive set if they aren't super tight yet. But they are all great musicians, so it jammed. Next I was heading over to Los Lobos which was as packed as I've ever seen fais do do (sp?) stage. We were hanging in the back and ended up bsing with 2 guys from Morristown for about a half hour. They threw it up for Peach Fest. Time to go start off with some Paul Simon. He came out with some Graceland and played 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover. I figured he would bring out Lady Snith Black Mombazo and his usual guests and do some Toussaint. But I had Ms Lauryn next. She was late. Duh. But the band came out and jammed a bit then she finally came out with a classical/nylon string acoustic and did a couple of tunes on it. I'm running out of time for MMJ do we gotta go though we don't want to. Got there about 6:15 or so and caught the rest. Purple Rain, and the pro shot is in the Voodoo Thread, and One Big Holiday were the closing songs. Pres Hall Horns was on stage about the last 30 minutes. So so fucking good. It was religious and I'm not giant MMJ fan guy either. But damn. Went and caught that the last 3 Ms Hill songs. Killing Me Softly was great. She is so damn talented.
Staying in tonight as I'm tired as shit. Gotta figure out still if we are doing Snoopadelic or Break Science Live or PL or whatever tomorrow night. But I think I'm going out tomorrow.
We went ahead and came in. Sky looks ominous but it ain't stopping the crowds, tons of folks here.
Gentilly has space though. We are in the same spot as yesterday, right of the field when facing stage, next to the trailer with paintings on near the drink stand. I'm sitting in a low chair next to a garbage can.
We'll probably leave our chairs here and bounce around though. Definitely be back for Beck if not before. Fuck the Acura stage.
Sitting at home bugging. All kinds of thunderstorms moving in from the west. I figured they'd roll through by 330 but it's not to be. I'm waiting because I don't fuck with lightning. I was hoping they'd suspend it and then extend to like 8. Fuck. I'm bugging to go out.
By the way be careful. A girl got killed by a strike at T Bois Blues Fest in Larose this year. You can get in the grandstand if necessary.
Fuck. Edit. Pointless as off now to go down there. Bought Break Science live tix and may go to Motet/Pimps depending. Today was a big ass chance to see some great shit.
I assume with the cancellation of the headliners, everyone is in town. If anyone hears anything.
We had a blast in the rain for a while but called it about 4:30pm after shit was serious. Sideways rain, lightening popping, it was exciting but scary. Rain let up by the time we made it to the car, figured Beck and Stevie would still go on but Nola.com says they shut it down.
Plenty of time now to rest up for the saenger tonight.

Pretty awful. Stayed out there the whole time. Got to a point where dr john and his band were getting soaked on stage. They played a few songs through it then had to call it. Stood out in the unbelievable rain for a couple hours. As soon as the rain clears up they cancel everything a mere 20 mins before stevie was to start.
