I'm expecting a lot from Moog next year. They moved the festival to be closer to RDU in order to bring in acts.
Anyone know what venues will be participating? I'm assuming Carolina Theater, Motorco, and Pinhook. Is it even possible to have DPAC since it's booked by Livenation? I've heard rumors of an outdoor stage, although I don't know where it will be placed.

They used the old Durham Bulls athletic park for an outdoor stage for Art of Cool this year.
Outside of the four venues you mentioned, there's the Carrack (a small art gallery that hosts local acts occasionally and works great as a venue), Duke Coffeehouse, Baldwin Auditorium, Page Auditorium, Reynolds Theatre (all four of those on Duke's campus). That's about all I can think of. Will be interested to see what they wind up using, as there aren't a whole lot of club venues in Durham, and nothing the size of the Orange Peel.
Their lineups have always been great. Expect nothing less this year.

Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Keeping an eye on this, as it looks like I could be moving to either Charlotte or Raleigh in May. Be hard to do this and Shaky Knees being back-to-back weekends.

I know, but I have two close friends that live in ATL, and the RDU area is my hometown and where my parents still live, so it isn't like I would have to pay for much aside from ticket + gas to drive there. Asheville is right at 3.5 hours to either one (Atlanta & Durham). Would really love to just do a day of Moog though and then all of SK.

Or you could stay in Atl and do Shaky Beats, which will probably have a similar lineup to Moog.

Thinking I might head down to Moog Fest for the first time. Do they usually announce bigger acts after the initial announcement? The undercard is just phenomenal.

They're not really a "BIG ACT" festival. I wouldn't bank on anything bigger being revealed.
This lineup absolutely kills it. Bicep, Oneohtrix, Julia Holter, Julianna Barwick, Grouper, Tim Hecker, Blood Orange, Tyondai, Ben Frost ughhhhhh wish I could do it.
Engineer VIP: Two 3-hour synth building workshops in which participants build, modify, and keep a new, UNRELEASED Moog synth module with the Moog engineers who designed it. The workshop will take place at the pop-up Moog Factory in Durham, NC. Participants in the Engineering workshop also have VIP access for the duration of the event, May 19-22.
