It'll be my first time in Boston. Anyone have any recommendations on things to do? (gonna come in a day early to hang out in the city, get my history on, eat, etc)
If you're coming into town Thursday you should go to the Red Sox game

There's a shitload of good beer bars. Most notably is Sunset Grill on Brighton Ave, maybe a mile from the venue, which has 112 taps.

Has anyone here had VIP tickets for this? I know that it's in a new location and it might be different but how was the view and space? Would I be able to get a good spot in VIP if I walk up as the band is starting or would I need to camp out for the absolute best spot?
This vip at the old location was not worth it at all imo, the viewing area was about as far from the stage as you could get, much better views from ga. No idea what the new location will be like though.
Thanks for the response! Yeah, I heard rumors about VIP being a little light but I got the Early Bird special, so it was basically the same price as a full GA ticket. Hopefully they change things up for the new location, otherwise I'll just go into the GA section. I think it's worth it for Sigur Ros and Bon Iver.
But at least we don't have to hide it from security anymore
It won't be legal to smoke at Boston Calling, you can not smoke in public. So yes, you still have to hide it from security.
I just checked the website and they aren't even allowing cigarettes, which I bet a bunch of people don't know and will be really pissed about when they get theirs confiscated. Interestingly it doesn't say anything about vaporizers.

Boston Calling on twitter is responding to VIP questions and says VIP will be closer this year and have a VIP lounge somewhere on the grounds. But that doesn't clarify what they mean by "close". Not sure if that means close to the stage like some other fests or just closer to the stage than previous years. Hoping for a map or something soon but I doubt they release one this early.

Per a Reddit thread, BC is enforcing the no-cigarettes-thing as part of an agreement with the Harvard Athletic Fields, who do not want their fields trashed and polluted.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Anyone know if there are water stations here? All I see on the site is you're allowed one closed bottle for entry, but nothing about a fill up station. Don't know if it's hot enough out yet to warrant such a thing? Just curious

I saw on the site that you will be allowed 1 empty water bottle - so I assume they will have it. In past years they had a fill up station so I assume they will have at least one at the new site.

I'm most excited for the fact that they will have over 30 food vendors and Sam Adams will not be the ONLY beer on site. Those were just 2 of things I hated about years past.
I'm also hoping they continue with the "no beer garden" and you can bring your drink where ever you want. I'm afraid that with this whole "keep Harvard yard clean" crap they will corral us beer drinkers into one space.

I would almost think it would be a necessary thing to have at this point. But when I read 1 factory sealed bottle I thought it might be different

They kind of hid the "one empty water bottle" under the "things not to bring" section -- weird -- but they said something like "No Flasks (empty water bottles will be permitted)
I'm kind of annoyed you aren't allowed to bring a small blanket and you can only have a very small bag. Hopefully nice weather will prevail and there will be plenty of opportunities for grass laying.

Except that Miller Lite is the alternative beer.
Then Sam Adams will still be the only beer on site.

Wow didn't even catch the whole no backpack thing. That's a big let down.

Small drawstring packs are fine. Every BC edition had this policy, it's related to fallout from the marathon bombing.
None of these developments are really new, honestly. The cigarettes thing is new, but that's a welcome change. There's not much worse than people who light up a cigarette right next to you and don't give a shit whose respiratory systems are around
