Here's my preliminary attempt. I just kind of fucked around with the third stage schedule. On Saturday I tried to set it up so Mumford/xx/1975 would all be on the main stages. Personally I think they did a kind of shitty job setting up this lineup. Obviously not all their fault, but each day definitely has a kind of distinct flavor (Friday = critical darlings, Saturday = indie pop, Sunday = heavier rock) and now that there are conflicting sets it means there's bound to be some bad scheduling.
I'd be happy with this schedule. Only tough choice would be seeing Bon Iver or trying to be up close for Chance. I can live with that.
Would take this schedule and only be questioning why each act didn't get an additional 5-15 min of time
Trigger pulled - lets do this BC
The red and blue stage set times are just copied from what they had last year. They could always change things up. For the third stage I just comparably-long sets with what felt like appropriate length breaks in between.
Thursday - Red Sox Friday and Saturday - Festival Sunday - Boozing at historical sites
It's so damn beautiful I might cry.
For any out-of-towners interested in Thursday night shows, Old Crow Medicine Show are doing the Orpheum Theater, playing Blonde On Blonde in its entirely.

I'm thinking Solange sub for Chance with Bon Iver in between. Sigur Ros conflicts with the first half of Chance. I think Bon Iver and Chance represent much bigger draws, so they'll probably assume they'd like for them to alternate. Ros will reach a lesser audience so they'll throw them on the green while Chance takes the main draw. That would be the way I'd personally diagram it out if I were them.
Saturday's a little bit more out there. I guess I'd think they'd have the 1975 on the green during Mumford? With the XX playing right before MS. Idk though, I guess if you're looking at popularity the 1975 and the XX are probably pretty similar.
Yeah, the 1975 much younger crowd tho lol I'm bias I want them before mumford but idk if that works
You may end up with a real dilemma if they put Mumford and The 1975 on at the same time.

Friday: Chance Blue/Bon Iver Red/SR right before Chance...? (They wouldn't do the 3rd stage if it's gonna be smaller ya?)
Sat: MUMFORD Blue, XX red, 1975 right before Mumford?
Sun: Tool Blue, ML red, Weezer pre tool?
On Sunday, I'd bet that Major Lazer headlines Green, directly opposite Tool, with Weezer subbing on one of the twin stages right before Tool.
Friday and Saturday are tougher to figure out, since either could go in a number of directions. I'm personally hoping for no overlap between Chance and Sigur Ros on Friday. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Nathaniel Rateliff sub on the twin stages for Mumford, with The xx and The 1975 both on the Green stage. But who knows?
is chance, bon iver, and sigur ros conflicting in some fashion a given, or is there some hope that it might not happen?
Given that Chance has the greatest potential of any of the headliners to appeal to most everyone who's there that day, I wouldn't be surprised if he performs unopposed, while Tool and Mumford don't.

Ohhhh the dates totally didn't click for me when I saw that tour. I had semi-decided to finally make it to Ommegang. I guess not. I might be trying to make the Orpheum happen.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Not impressed by Snow's emphasis on the "common music festival bond". I know that's where all the money lies, but it makes the music more of an after thought.
Idk, I completely understand what he means about the previous bc's feeling more like a series of concerts than a true music festival.
You mean this paragraph?
Harvard Athletic Complex provides Boston Calling with the ability to more than double their operation, allowing them to really compete with the likes of Governors Ball and Lollapalooza as they move more into the world of big festivals. “We were out of space,” Snow said. “We were having three concerts in a row and looking at it as a festival.”
He's right that BC is now able to compete in the big leagues, rather than have a smaller event with quality names but not the same type of national appeal.
But my comment was instigated by this part:
“Now the person is going to leave with more than just, ‘Hey, Mumford And Sons was really good tonight.’ It’s going to be an immersive experience where people can say, ‘Dude, did you see this art thing? Did you see these lights? Oh my god, I just ate this unbelievable sandwich from this food truck that is never by my work. And I got to see Mumford And Sons.’ That’s really what we’re going to do, and are excited to do.”
That's where my remark about the music being an afterthought came from. The festival isn't necessarily going in a wrong direction - just gotta avoid a scenario like this year's Firefly where they advertise with "FRIENDS" on their marketing materials as a reason to attend.
More like "biggest headliner anyone could possibly get this year, in their first ever music festival appearance on this continent."
True. One artist can get people to a festival BUT one artist does not make a festival.
Taste is subjective. We'll see. Many on inforoo might not like the lineup, but I hear they are doing much better this year compared to last regardless.

Roo Surviving is all that matters for me this year. Hopefully the lineup is more suited towards my groups taste next year. BC's lineup continues to impress me as the winter months drag on, but our group is doing ACL this year.
As stated before, it's bizarre how Boston Calling managed to book a lineup that's so much stronger than Bonnaroo.
That said, I wonder how well BC is selling this year, since previous editions weren't always sold out or close to selling out.
Its not really bizzarre. BC happens a week before the talent pool starts getting split between North America and Europe. They have more acts available to them.

Roo was able to book strong lineups in past years with the talent pool being split.

Yup, didn't stop Roo in prior years. It's Europe that has had to adapt to the growing North American festival bubble market, rather than the other way around.
