I think the casual fan has little to no idea who LCD is. I do expect there show to be amazing and enjoyed by many and I agree with others that they have been booked many places so maybe they kinda fell into Roo's lap.

Leaving the 'is LCD a headliner' chatter aside for a moment, let's address the more Bonnaroo-specific question ...
Is there anyone here, who has attended Roo before, that legitimately believes LCD can hold court on the What Stage?
I like them, they were incredible at late night in 2010 but I just cannot picture them holding down a (mostly) unopposed headlining slot in a field that holds 100K people.

They have the stage presence to pull it off. I question how big of a crowd they will draw though. The sound has been very questionable on the Which Stage, so I would be very content having them play a show on the What Stage.
To piggy back, you know how many people here would have been furious (Seeing a bunch of majors pull them in) if Bonnaroo dropped the ball on booking LCD this time? You can say they drop the ball on getting shows in a timely fashion but this is one of the few times you can't really argue with timeliness on a bunch of these acts. (Love em or hate em)
i hope you realize my post was sarcastic.
LCD is a headliner, end of story. For the idiot that started the post, my reference was that if 3 major festivals book LCD as a headliner, they are a headliner.
Although, the more LCD shows up on other major festivals, it further diminishes the "Bonnaroo did a great job booking LCD" factor. It looks more and more like LCD wanted to play several large scale festivals in different regions(west coast: Coachella, central: Bonnaroo, east coast: Panorama, Europe: Primavera), and Bonnaroo fit the bill.
Suck it numbnuts. I didn't question them being a headliner, i questioned how they became one. If hype and time away is the answer, then so be it. 5 years off is a great business plan, good for them. I'll see them in June, if not before.

Hey hey, settle down. Let's try to keep the spirit of Bonnaroo alive on this message board, ya?

I mean, they will destroy. I don't know if that band has ever played a bad show in its entire lifespan.
However, depending on how Bonnaroo schedules this thing, it's very possible they could be playing to like 30,000 people while everyone else is at Flosstradamus and Tyler the Creator or whatever.
Yea, that's what I'm getting at. The field will be pretty empty compared to how big it is.

I think it'll be like Kendrick/Ben Harper last year, with LCD on What and J.Cole on Which, although I guess J.Cole is way more popular than Ben Harper, so could be wrong.

^This is what I'm questioning.. A headliner at a major fest is not one who plays a great show, it's who draws the most people. How the crowd reacts is up to them. If a headliner plays to 30-50% of a capacity crowd, then they weren't headliner material.

Don't see that at all. J Cole takes the Kendrick spot and LCD takes the Deadmau5 spot.

Well, you're welcome to start your own festival and do whatever the fuck you want, but clearly Capp Dogg and all the other festival organizers disagree.

Not in the spirit. Reported.
We will take your suggestion of banning Horn into consideration. Thank you.
2011 - "No Way Arcade Fire Would Headline" 2013 - "No Way Mumford and Sons Would Headline" 2014 - "No Way Jack White Would Headline" 2015 - "No Way Deadmau5/Kendick Would Headline" 2016 - "No Way Beck/Bon Iver/Vampire Weekend/The Weeknd/Any Other Artists Who Hasn't Headlined a Major Fest Would Headline (Except Chance the Rapper) LCD SOUNDSYSTEM WOULD HEADLINE."

Every year, you guys.
Let's start taking bets on which act is going to fill that role in 2017.
What I would prefer: Vampire Weekend/Frank Ocean co-headlining What Bonnaroo will actually book: Skrillex

I hope so. Lots of room to dance, not too bad of a line to get into the pit? I don't get why people keep citing this is a negative thing. Oh right because we have to find something to complain about no mattttter what.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
