yea there is never any legit info out there for this. We have done a good job the last few years looking at tour dates and making accurate guesses that turned out right. I think a few of us predicted KOL and Kanye 2 year ago.

I guess Tidal isn't doing the 2 for one again this year? That was a great deal last year
It really was! Half the price of the other presales. I actually impulse bought some tickets at the "full" presale price last year, then later found out about the Tidal one and bought two more through that. I ended up selling my extras for enough that I basically went for free. Hopefully that Tidal one still happens. The website specifically says "Previous Purchasers Presale" so I'm guessing there will be other types. But this one ends at 10pm tonight? Jeez.
Also, with that wrist band thing, will be harder to re-sell this year.

Just seeing the wristband thing now. But yea, that's going to make things a bit more difficult. Price range says $112-$162. Do we think they'll up the price after pre-sale?
Seems like they have switched to an entirely pop/edm format.
It's probably for the best, this is the worst run festival I've ever been to. I remember watching Phoenix before Beyonce a couple years ago and not even 10% of the crowd knew who Phoenix was. The group of girls behind us asked if we could stop dancing bc we were stepping on their blanket, ugh.
The following night we saw Queens of the Stone Age and NIN in a crowd of maybe 6,000? The entire fest was at Calvin Harris lol.

I don't see at all how that's the way the festival was run's fault though.

Sad but that is what this festival's demographic wants. When I went in 2014 Kanye's day was soooo crowded. The next day when Kings of Leon headlined you could literally walk to the front of the stage just 10 minutes before their set.

It is though. Why did they even bother booking acts like The National and Modest Mouse and placing them in front of a mega-headliner? That context wasn't satisfying for the small percentage of indierock fans that bought tickets to the festival. Went in both 2014 and 2015; lesson learned, not going back.

It's a shame that the Popped Festival was pretty much ruined by the rain and forced to move indoors. The first year lineup had a few decent bookings, and the location of FDR park would be far superior to the Art Museum on basically every level
The fest being all ages was a huge negative as well. I've never seen so many people passing out and dropping everywhere. During deadmau5 I saw at least 3 or 4 serious-looking medical incidents. These kids were popping whatever research chemicals they had 2 mins after getting out of moms mini van.

Rihanna is a sure thing. Close ties to TIDAL, and she's touring European festivals late August which means that she'll have a festival production locked and loaded.
104.5 said last year Modest Mouse ended their set early bcuz they hated the crowd. I was right outside listening to the set loud and clear and they were killing it but thought it was odd they ended with Tiny Cities Made of Ashes which is a pretty slow song, made me believe the crowd being shitty was true afterall.

The crowd for Spoon was so, so sad.
Right in the middle of that approaching storm, too. Think it was a lineup / demographic thing, too, but that surely didn't help Spoon. Not sure everyone came back after the storm, which didn't help KoL. Disorganized.

I went every year from 2012-14. Skipped last year. As someone who leans on the alternative/rock/indie side of things there was plenty in those years that I could enjoy but 2015 just skewed WAY too EDM/Pop for my tastes. However, 2015 was the first time it sold out without a big rock act so can't see why they wouldn't keep going in that direction.
Good call on Rihanna being a lock. If Twenty One Pilots weren't already playing the Radio 104.5 show in June they'd be PERFECT for this (and yes, they're at a point where they can headline a U.S. festival).

I remember 2008 on Drexel's Campus with Crystal Castles, Gogol Bordello, Dan Deacon and Vampire Weekend
Early Bird tickets now up at the $112 price point. Interested to see if Tidal ends up doing anything. This also seems earlier than last year, so maybe an earlier lineup release?

Im thinking this year will be rihanna and drake and for the top electronic either Jack U/major lazor...that's really depressing that they're moving away from the indie/alt rock in their format, I personally enjoyed the demographic at this fest and the fact that the cheese edm and top 40 pop really drove the big crowds away from the acts I wanted to see and allowed me to get really close.
