Wow so many unexpected acts on here: Kevin Devine, Into it Over it, Aaron West & The Roaring Twenties, Basement, Touche Amore. Guess Jay Z used to be a scene kid.
agreed that its much better than i expected. still no interest in the headliners but if the daily shakes out with Chance, Banks & Steelz, Gary Clark im likely there. Hoping i get the chance to come back and work it again, that would be ideal.
Just wondering since I've never been to this festival, why was it an awful experience?
For $112 (+fees), it seems like a nice deal.
it's been several years since i went (2013, because beyoncé) so maybe some of my complaints aren't accurate anymore. there was only one water station for the entire festival, and it was next to the entrance, which isn't really close to any stages. the crowd was the worst i've ever experienced. people were sitting in the middle of crowds during shows and threatening people who stepped on their blankets. there were SIX fist fights in the area around us while waiting for beyoncé. security did nothing to stop girls from pounding on each other, even though we were right on the rail. it just seemed poorly organized and overcrowded. maybe these things have changed in the last few years, but it would take a lot for me to go back.

not much has changed lol. I didnt go last year but despite the site being expanded some, plenty of people told me it was still to crowded. The water sitch was improved in 2014 when i was there from i remember but not by much.

Nope that's all still accurate and my same experience in 2014/2015.

The worst was walking out after The Weeknd ended last year, and seeing these hoodrats attack and pull the hairs of these white suburban teenagers who were screaming and crying.
i'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt with your poor word choices, but my issues with this festival were due to poor organization and lack of intervention by security, not "hoodrats" attacking "white suburban teenagers."

That was just one example of the bullshit I encountered; I've made prior posts in this thread being critical of all the other crowd elements (e.g., stereotype white bros, who I also saw picking fights).
this is much better than i thought it would be. i considered going for a second until i remembered what an awful experience it was.

Worst festival experiences I've ever had. The crowd that this thing attracts is atrocious. I saw at least 5 fights, and I'm talking legit fights, not 1-2 punches.
You can pretty much guarantee anything that isn't hip-hop won't have a crowd. Even some of the EDM shows have small crowds. I don't quite understand why they book indie/rock acts because no one attends the sets.
The 2 years I went, one year they ran out of bottled water right before the headliner, and only had 1 refill station. The lines to get food were so disorganized and long that it was extremely frustrating just trying to get some fries.
I have a feeling many of the people that attend this show are hip hop fans who have never been to an actual festival. During Beyonce many of them felt that their 12x12 blanket in the middle of the crowd meant that they could have their own private dance floor.
On the bright side, if you have ever wanted to laugh at people's festival attire this is the place. The amount of girls with heels and nightclub-attire on was hilarious. It almost felt like an episode of Bad Girls Club at times.

Thanks for the input. I'm not a huge hip-hop fan, so 'less crowded indie/rock shows' sounds great to me indeed. I'm also okay with both of the headliners, and for that price I can trick myself into buying this.

Just FYI, if the indie/rock shows you want to see are in front of a big act on the same stage, there will be a huge crowd that won't care less about what's happening on stage.

Yeah, it's true. That's one of the worst things in concerts/festivals IMO.

This 1000x. Phoenix played before Beyonce on the main stage and we had things thrown at us and were given dirty looks by the people around us because we were standing up. We were probably 60ft from the stage and I'd say 1/4th of the crowd up there was sitting down during their set. Awful atmosphere to experience a show.
Even though you screwed up this line, I'm impressed you're aware of it.
Yeah, I believe it's "This the sound of Philadelphia" but I had already committed to "welcome to Philadelphia."
Anyways, Reef!
Yup. I've talked to him a number of times at his shows and just around the city, he's actually a really cool guy. Oddly enough he started doing a podcast with his dj and it's a lot of fun.
