That's a big one for me. I have seen FIDLAR before, but they're a fun show. On the other hand, I haven't seen Kamasi Washington, but he'll also be at Forecastle. I worry that, if I save him for Forecastle, they'll be some other horrid conflict there that would make me miss out on him again.
I don't believe Kamasi is even at Forecastle this year. Unless you know something I don't.

Well that makes that decision easier. I have no idea how I got it in my head he was there.
Skipping Steve Gunn is a bad call. He's incredible live and easily one of the best acts on Saturday.
Never heard of him, but that time slot would be pretty wide open for me so I'll give him a listen.
He's really good guitar player. If you like Kurt vile (he was violator for a bit) Ryley Walker, William Tyler, or stuff in the vein check him out. He has solo stuff and lots of albums with other guitar players. Extended, kinda folky guitar jams. One of my most anticipated acts.
Pit line for LCD over everything else that day .........
Lots of good stuff earlier in the day with Dungen, Ibeyi, Shamir, Kamasi, etc. Unless you want to be rail for LCD or whatever, I don't think it'd be wise to wait in line the beginning of Friday and miss out on some of the best acts playing the fest this year.
ugh the conflicting reports about BoH live are making me question my decision to go see them. I've seen 2DCC before but not BoH, but if they're underwhelming live...

The last time I saw boh they were pre headlining for jack white at forecastle and they were awful. Like wanted to cover my ears bad. I really enjoy their studio stuff, but man they sounded terrible that day.

I seem to remember the inconsistency being a theme with reviews of their shows, so you may be taking a gamble either way of seeing a bad show or missing a great one.

Borns VS. Beginning of Marian Hill & all of Lizzo.
I like Borns the most, but I won't be near that tent before his set so I know it's gonna be packed. Marian Hill's new songs have been great and Lizzo will get my energy high before getting my funk on at The Floozies. But like, I really really like Borns, so it's a hard choice!

I saw them open for Neil Young last summer, and while it wasn't a very exciting set, they sounded pretty close to their recorded output.

They're certainly inconsistent in their live shows. I thought they sounded pretty off at Landmark this past fall. I was not impressed. But then I've heard other people rave about times they've seen them. So yeah, it'll be a gamble.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I've seen them three times. Twice it was a total snooze and I left early. Third time was OK, but it was at OBH in Mexico, so the beach and free booze went a long way. I like their recorded stuff(mostly) but they don't seem to read the crowd and play too many of the slower sad sings and it sucks the life out of the crowd.
My schedule is relatively conflict free for the first time ever. There are a couple bands that I'm bummed about not being able to see like Tyler, The Creator and Bob Moses but I've kinda already made my peace with those even before the schedule came out.
The only real tossup for me is Waxahatchee and London Souls early on Thursday. I'm leaning towards Waxahatchee since I'll basically be camped out at This all Thursday for Bully -> Twin Peaks -> Borns -> The Floozies, but I've also been really digging some of the London Souls stuff. Anyone know how either of them are live?

I like Waxahatchee a lot but I think she's kind of underwhelming live. IIRC she plays a lot of slower songs.
I saw Waxahatchee open for Sleater-Kinney last year and I was really unimpressed. Every song sounded pretty much the same and just went through the same crunchy, strummy guitar motions and never developed into anything interesting.

He would have to be much more boring before Forecastle booked him.
In regards to Band Of Horses, I heard their new single on the radio and it is very pop sounding, more so than the last Glyn Johns produced record. Nothing like the BOH I would personally want to hear.
Thanks for your input on BoH, guys. Even though they may be inconsistent, I know that 2DCC is a consistently good live band, so I'm probably going to see them.

Yeah that's kind of what I was afraid of. I'd rather go with something more upbeat early on Thursday that might pleasantly surprise me than a slower show. Thanks for the input!
am i the only one who is annoyed that macklemore gets 15 minutes unapposed
Eh, I don't think that makes the much of a difference. It can about that much time to go from one stage to the next so I don't think it'll really affect much. I'm more concerned about the second half of M83 being unopposed before LCD comes on; I think it's going to be quite a clusterfuck around the Which stage.
Bonus of seeing J Cole is I have a better chance of getting in the LCD pit, bonus of Tyler is I could get pretty close since I'm seeing the 3 sets before him
I guess it depends on how much you care for Tyler or LCD Soundsystem. Like which show would you rather be close for? But I think Tyler's show will be more memorable because it'll take more advantage of Bonnaroo's setting and crowd. Another thing to consider is Tyler and J.Cole's shows are going to be very different. J.Cole will have a bigger show and a pretty great live band, and will be a lot more peaceful than Tyler's show. J.Cole's show will consist of throwing your hands in the air and singing along. Tyler will have everyone moshing and jumping around until you feel like you might die, think ASAP Rocky/Ferg or Danny Brown in the past years. With that being said, I'm definitly going with Tyler and I think I'll still be able to get a good spot for LCD Soundsystem. I don't need to be super up close for LCD, I just need some dancing space and some good friends.
Anyone who plans on missing Dungen is making a huge mistake. They're also a much rarer act to see and it could be years before you have this chance again.
I just saw them a Okeechobee and they're good. Sucks they keep getting early slots. Kinda like a mix between Tame Impala and Sigur Ros (mostly because they sing in another language that I'm too lazy to google at moment).

Nathaniel Rateliff v. Clutch
Dang it, I've just started to appreciate Nathaniel and was kind of psyched, but I've been a fan of Clutch for over 20 years (tat just sounds weird) and have never regretted seeing them. Definitely leaning towards Clutch, but wish they played later. I'd check out Haim too, if the schedule was different.
And Ween and Lord Huron are BOTH overlapping with Dead and Co.??? Is that for real, or can we expect Dead to get a late start?
Live band, eh? I might have to check out his show.
Not the best quality but his show will probably be a lot like this
The time I saw J. Cole at Roo (2011?) he was just about to start as I was wandering past the tent so I stopped for a minute. I had no idea who he was but ended up staying. I'm still not really a fan but it was an impressive show, in my opinion.
This time he directly follows Vince Staples and conflicts with both Leon Bridges and Tyler, so I won't be there at What this time. Big scheduling mistake to clump up what little rap there is AND overlap Leon. And there are some other good bands around the same time, so plenty of decisions to make Friday before LCD.

I'm in the same boat on Nathaniel Rateliff or Clutch. Saw Clutch last time on the farm and they were so damn amazing BUT I really like Rateliff's voice and he has a killer horn section. Lord Huron or Ween is a headache too

Yeah, I hate the thought of missing Clutch, but I'm a sucker for a good horn section. Gonna be a game-time decision, most likely. Maybe it will be one of those deals where I bank on Clutch starting on time, watch 30 minutes or so, then hustle over to This Tent to catch the rest of Rateliff. At least getting from The Other Tent to This is easy, and maybe a lot of folks will be over at What getting ready for Macklemore. Claypool-Lennon will be a no-brainer for me after that conundrum.
