I caught the first part of Atomic Bomb but I was on a low at that time and was just laying back. Then I left for the start of Gambino which got me sufficiently amped up. That was definitely a strong late night, really wanted to catch Bassnectar but the SJ was too high on my list after missing my first one in the Skrilly SJ.
I skipped SJ for D'Angel and am highly confident I made the correct decision
Not huge on D'Angelo. Im sure it was a great set. The SJ didnt have the unbelievable quality but the energy and will of the artists on stage plus the crowd was just too good.
superjam was my preference but the crowd was enormous by the time I got there. if you got a good spot for the SJ I'm sure you had a blast.
bassnectar was definitely a plan B but I'm really glad I made it. for years I've missed bassnectar sets because of conflicts or crowds, so this was my first real full on bassnectar experience, definitely converted me to bass fam.
for better or worse, I've had a feeling for years that one of these American DJs would take on the jamband fan obsession mantle, turns out its bassnectar. it's so funny reading the fan testimonials on the bassnectar subreddit, it's just the kind of shit I said about phish in the late 90s/early 00's. makes me happy the kids are connecting with an artist in the same way I did.
I was leaning back against the sound board rail. It was an amazing spot. The SJ was unbelievably crowded, surely would not have got as close had I been with a group. Right after Tycho ended I hit the bathroom and then SJ and there was already a crowd reaching outside the tent. I wormed my way past a lot of the larger groups and nestled myself right up next to the soundboard before it even started. As I was sitting waiting we could all hear the bass from Nectar, I just thought to myself damn everyone is getting their faces melted right now. Glad it was such a good show for you, Ive heard that show compared to all time shows from him. The SJ, although not musically perfect had the best energy of the whole weekend. DMC was the perfect MC for the evening.
I got to the superjam pretty early so I was up front...but I'm always confused when people say it was crowded. I had so much space up front....were we all just not filling the space up front making it more crowded in the back?

Yes I feel like once it reached outside the tent, few people decided to make a push further. I did notice about half way through the crowd thinned out. It went from being packed in front of the sound board to having 2-4 people worth of space all around me.

Probably. Because walking up on the tent, just looking from the road near the ferris wheel it appeared I had zero chance of getting anywhere near the music. It was a monstrous crowd from that angle.

Not so much a conflict, but what are the chances of being able to go from LCD pit (assuming they finish on time) to Tame Impala pit? Close to 0% or is there a shot of it happening

You're asking if you can go from the headliner to the most popular act right after the headliner and be at the front of both for the whole shows?

Damn right haha. I'm assuming it won't be possible but I have heard of some people doing pit for both pre-HL and then headliner. Guess I'll find out if it's possible in a month.

does anyone think I'll be able to leave the LCD pit right after their set and get on top of the Which question mark and just ride it like a donkey while it rotates during Tame Impala's set?

Follow your dreams. Follow them all the way to the back of the Which crowd.

I think it's possible. I could see people in the Tame pit leaving throughout the show to head over to other LN sets.

The Oh Hellos vs. Kurt Vile
I really think the Oh Hellos could be a good time. On the other hand, I don't mind Kurt and that would provide for a good spot for FJM. I know some of you will probably say to skip both and go to Saint Motel but I just don't think I am feeling them. Nor am I feeling Jason Isbell.

The Oh Hellos are CAN'T MISS. They have incredible energy. Huge group fitting on one stage. I've seen them twice, and both times the banjo player ended up playing in a tree. It's especially cool cos even when their music seems dark and soft, they manage to build it up. I'll be at their set for sure, and headed to FJM immediately after.

As was said, I think you're only hope would be people leaving throughout Tame's set, but I wouldn't count on it. In my opinion, though, you don't really need to be in the pit for Tame Impala. They're just not the kind of band where that will significantly improve the show. If it looks like there's space, go for it, but my plan is just to find a spot where the sound and sight line is good, and then work my way up the best I can throughout the set.

Bonnaroo did do a great job with Tame's placement.
People at LCD will be able to get better positioning at Tame than people who attended Bryson Tiller, a very popular act.
The Chainsmokers and Zeds Dead will take from the crowd significantly. The Smokers have a great set time for Tame fans. There may be a bunch of people planning to catch the first bit of Chainsmokers, and that will put LCD fans at an advantage.
Would someone who doesn't like lamb of god's studio work like their live show?
If you're generally a fan of most pits and high energy shows, Lamb of God definitely fits the bill. If not, they won't change your mind on those kinds of shows either

I saw the oh hellos in march at a festival, and all I knew about them was they played they americana folky stuff that has been all the rage. I was excited at first, when like 10 people came out on stage with banjos and fiddles and guitars and 2 drummers and stuff. But all those instruments played some boring ass music. No hooks or strong melodies. No real tempo to any of the songs either. On one song they played for the crowd to “get rowdy,” and my roommate looked over at me and was like “how do you get rowdy to this?” No beat or anything, slow ballad type song. She couldn’t even hoop dance The only exciting part about their set was the banjo player, who was bouncing around stage like coked up high school punk. And playing his banjo like one too...no pickin', all power chords. It just was not very engaging music and I couldn’t figure out why they needed so many instruments to make it. At least Ed Sharpe can manage a sing a long.

plus Kurt Vile is awesome.
We appear to have had very different experiences with their shows lol. I don't know, maybe it's cos when I've seen them, it's been for hometown crowds (in ATX - they're from nearby Sam Marcos). Still, literally when I've seen them, it's been the opposite of what you describe. Totally engaging, high energy from everyone.

There is a gap on Sunday between Cymande and Lettuce where no bands catch my eye. What shows would you recommend I catch, if any?
I would say kurt vile if you want some indie guitar rock, and can take two straight which stage afternoon shows.
or wood brothers>steep canyon rangers. wood brothers (chris wood from medeski martin and wood and his brother) is a folky rock band. Their latest release is pretty great. Steep Canyon Rangers are a classic bluegrass band. If I need a break from the sun after Cymande that's where I will be.
This is sort of being discussed already, but: Kamasi Washington/FIDLAR/Shamir/Whitney
I have the opportunity to see Kamasi, Shamir and Whitney at P4K, but as Dave alluded to a few days ago, you never know how another schedule is going to play out. Help.

I think that's just going to be to a situation where you make your choice and focus on that you're seeing a good show rather than that you're missing three other good shows as I feel like all those shows are going to be good to great.
