This is sort of being discussed already, but: Kamasi Washington/FIDLAR/Shamir/Whitney
I have the opportunity to see Kamasi, Shamir and Whitney at P4K, but as Dave alluded to a few days ago, you never know how another schedule is going to play out. Help.
I'm fortunate in that I've seen Shamir and FIDLAR before. Both are good, though FIDLAR keeps getting stuck with the opening noon slot at ACL which is a total buzzkill. Kamasi was already hovering around the top five on this lineup for me and seeing him on the Coachella stream just reinforced my desire to see him live and Roo seems like a nearly perfect place to do so.
I really think the Oh Hellos could be a good time. On the other hand, I don't mind Kurt and that would provide for a good spot for FJM. I know some of you will probably say to skip both and go to Saint Motel but I just don't think I am feeling them. Nor am I feeling Jason Isbell.
I've seen them twice, and both times the banjo player ended up playing in a tree.

When I'm faced with a choice like this, my default is usually to go for the least crowded tent.

I think that's just going to be to a situation where you make your choice and focus on that you're seeing a good show rather than that you're missing three other good shows as I feel like all those shows are going to be good to great.
It almost never happens to me that, once I'm at a show, I even think about the other opportunities, unless the show is going poorly. The beautiful convenience of a festival is that if it's going poorly, I can just run over to the next. Moving on from things at fest (mentally/emotionally) has been pretty easy for me.

It really does seem like the perfect place to see him. I think it's really going to come down to Kamasi and Shamir because those are my favorites out of the four, but I just don't know what to expect from either.

I The issue I'm having is a common one. I have zero idea how popular these groups are to the public. I think it's safe to say that Whitney is the least popular. Who the most popular is, however: I have no clue.
I was all about seeing Chvrches, but I just got home from a Lucius concert, and they fucking killed it! I haven't seen chvrches new material live, but Lucius was so fun and high-energy that I just don't know anymore.
What time to get into the pit for Dead & Co is anyone predicting? I could possibly skip Ween for this opportunity.
The only thing I can compare it too is Phish 2012, which was the last jamband Sunday show, and I walked right into that pit right after the act before (Bon Iver I think) and even got a rail spot. Not a prime rail spot, I was in front of the left PA but a rail spot nonetheless.
I think a lot of people will leave before dead & co.

I will be at either FIDLAR or Kamasi. Shamir was solid live when I saw him this past summer but nothing incredible... A few pitch problems and not an exceptionally dynamic stage presence. Yes this was nearly a year ago so he's bound to have improved at least a bit since then, but that's my two cents.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Anything not Post Malone.....and I actually like White Iverson. But here's a rundown of what a Post Malone show will be like, shitty DJ playing hits with no transitions whatsoever, Post will come out and probably still be opening with White Iverson, he'll sing over his backtrack for pretty much every song, then he'll close with White Iverson again and his DJ will probably play more random songs to fill in the set time. If there was absolutely nothing else going on during his show, then yeah it might be stupid fun time. But I think pretty much every option during his set time would be better than going to Post Malone. Hell eating an amish donut or going down a big water slide might be a better use of your time than going to see Post Malone. If you asked me should I go see Post Malone or sit in the grass and blow bubbles, I'd say sit in the grass and blow bubbles. Post Malone is this year's Dej Loaf...only more pathetic because at least Dej was a Thursday act.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

Even if you're a HUGE Post Malone fan I wouldn't ever suggest going to see him live. He shows up for a check and that's it. It's his dj trying to "perform" while he occasionally raps/sings/mumbles over the backtrack. He'll waste as much time as possible during the set and 2 out of the 4 songs he'll play is White Iverson. (I don't mind Post Malone's music, just his "performances").

Yeah, he's not very refined yet. You just described a lot of pop rap acts (Kendrick at roo '13 was pretty bad with backtracks). It's kinda shitty for him that his 2 singles blew up faster than he could learn how to perform. It happens with bedroom DJs that learn to produce before they can even mix properly (see:Kygo). He opened for Future, which is about where I'd put his talent: a 30 minute warm up for Future. He finally dropped a mixtape last week, so maybe he'll improve, but I'll still be skipping it bc I saw him at Okeechobee while eating pizza. He also lacks any sort of stage production, so it's just a DJ table and Post Malone up there doing their thing which can get pretty boring.
I'm currently planning on seeing Kamasi and then going over to CHVRCHES. It'll be close before their show starts, but do you all think I'd have a good shot of getting in to the pit (from the left side, of course)? I've never gone into pit that close before a bigger show started.
Go see Bully if you haven't before. Lizzo is very, very good. And Given that Vince Staples and CHVRCHES only overlap by 15 minutes, I'd just go see both of them.
I was originally 100% for Bully, but I now realize there's a high likelihood of a Chance appearance at Hundred Waters. Making me reevaluate.
I saw Hundred Waters opening for Interpol a couple years ago and they were absolutely mesmerizing. But they're another one of those types of acts that I'm not sure how they're translate to an outdoor, daytime venue. I'm now considering hitting up Bully myself.
