both tour frequently and play a lot of festivals. i haven't seen FJM but people say its a good show. i guess it comes down to (a) am i a fan of FJM's songs and look forward to hearing them live or (b) I want to see a bunch of super talented musicians kick out the funk.
I'll be at Lettuce. I like FJM fine but when choosing a live show I typically pick the high energy option.

CHVRCHES & Leon. Vince is a blast, yes. But Leon has so much talent, it's can't miss. You might be able to do CHVRCHES and part of Vince (or vice versa) but I think it'd be better to just enjoy two full quality sets. Plus, showing up late or close to the start of Vince may prevent you from a solid spot, which I think is a big part of the experience at a Vince show.

Don't underestimate the energy of a FJM show. He engages the audience in unexpected ways.

There's already been a lot of talk about this but curious where everyone is landing on the Friday evening shows? I was pretty set on Chvrches but am thinking other shows might be a better use of my time.
Right now I'm thinking:
5:30 - 6:30 Kamasi (full set) 6:30 - 7:00 Griz (last half of set) 7:00 - 7:30 Keys N' Krates (first half of set) 7:30 - 8:30 Vince Staples (full set) 8:15 - 10:45 - Leon > Tyler or J. Cole > Tyler
The only artist in the above list I'm passionate about is Kamasi, everyone else is just a chance to bounce around and have fun checking out new artists. I'm not crazy about J. Cole's songs but he just seems so damn nice.
Not really a big M83 fan. Could swing by there if Tyler is terrible.
I'm currently planning on seeing Kamasi and then going over to CHVRCHES. It'll be close before their show starts, but do you all think I'd have a good shot of getting in to the pit (from the left side, of course)? I've never gone into pit that close before a bigger show started.
I'm in a similar boat, except planning on trying to get in the CHVRCHES pit after Shamir. It will be my first attempt at getting in the pit at Roo so I'm hoping that passing on Kamasi/GRiZ (since I'll be at the Superjam) will work out.

I agree, hip hop shows never look very fun from the back. It's like you're missing out on the whole party

I have thought since the schedule came out that I would skip M83, get in the pit for LCD, and then proceed to Tame Impala.
I am now leaning towards catching M83, taking in LCD from the right side (close to the crossway that leads to Which), leaving when All My Friends begins to beat the rush to Tame.
M83 is a borderline top 10 set for me this year, I would hate to miss it. I also don't want to be in the main back for Tame Impala because of the sightlines and sound problems that come with Which.

M83, LCD, and tame are all must sees for me. Hopefully I can swing getting a good spot for all three. Leaving during all my friends sounds criminal though.

Depends on what you consider a good spot. Tame Impala is going to be a clusterfuck.
All My Friends has never connected with me like it has with everybody else. Not in my top 5 LCD songs.
I understand. The majority of my group can't get into any of LCD so I might be at the show all by myself. As for tame impala I'm getting worried. It doesn't seem like anyone has a good thing to say about which stage and I really want a spot where I can at least get good sound quality.

People are overestimating the crowd for Tame Impala, I don't think it'll be that bad. I would say if you get there before Bryson Tiller is over and are willing to work your way up a bit, you'll be fine. I expect it to be about at big as Flaming Lips in 2014, big but not dense enough that you couldn't work your way up if you wanted to.
I expect the Ellie Goulding crowd to be much bigger.

All of us good ole inforoo folks will be at LCD, if you're looking for company it shouldn't be hard. We don't bite, at least too hard. I haven't been to Roo since 2013, so the Which Stage sound may have improved...but it use to have issues. Best I remember, the further back you are the worse it sounds. What Stage sound carries fairly well.

I hope you're right. The only act that has more people added on the website is Pearl Jam, and the only acts going against them is electronic acts.
I liked Cashmere Cat's B2B set with Trippy Turtle at Buku, he also produces for Kanye so I'll take any chance to turn up to some TLOP tracks in a live festival setting. But I feel like I might be missing something cool with Goldlink. His tracks are good but nothing has really grabbed my attention yet. But his live shows look pretty decent and I'll usually take a hip hop show over an EDM show. I remember back in 2014 when I didn't think much of Chance the Rapper, and then one of my biggest regrets ended up being not going to his set that year. So I just need to make sure....is Goldlink someone I should be into?

Personally not into Goldlink like that. I wouldnt be comparing him to Chance is all im saying. I have seen Cash Cat last year and he is one of the few pure EDM artists that does work on the mixing board (that you will see at Roo) from start to finish. He also has great remixes of pop and hip hop songs. I'll be at Cash but if the leaked Kalliope lineup is to be believed, youll be able to see Goldlink then catch Griz b2b Cash Cat afterwards.

We have almost the exact same schedule.
Heres my Friday evening:
5:30 - 6:30 Kamasi Washington (full) 6:30 - 7:00 Griz (last half) 7:00 - 7:30 Keys N Krates (maybe just swing by and cop a feel for it) 7:30 - 8:30 Vince Staples (full, if I am not feeling it i'll check out Arkells) 8:30 - 9:30 Leon Bridges (most of set) 9:45 - 10:45 Tyler the Creator (full) 11:00 - 12:00 LCD Soundsystem (leave a half hour early or so) 1:00 - 3:00 Tame Impala (Pit)
We also share very similar sentiments. Not crazy about M83 but could definitely enjoy them if Tyler craps the bed. Only Kamasi, and for me Tame, would be must sees in my book. I like J Coles energy/vibes, he certainly fits Roo in that aspect, his music is sub par and extremely low on my Roo rankings.

Yeah I'm not saying he's as good as Chance, I just didn't want it to be the same situation. Like Chance really had to grow on me. I used to not see what was so special. I'm really hoping that leaked Kalliope schedule is real

Chance grew on me as well. I missed him at Roo in 2014 and heard such good reviews I had to see him at Firefly the next weekend. I will be up almost all night Thursday if that lineup is true. Super worth it if thats the case.

Don't worry danbob. The Miller on tap stage will be dark during Tame but the bigger sound bleed risk to Which comes from This Tent. It certainly could be an issue with Chainsmokers overlapping early during Tame and Zeds Dead late. If you get closer to the stage than the drink vendors located in the center of the Which field and in front of the big trees you should be fine. Bonus points on your sound for this show if you're off center towards the What stage (further away from This Tent).
It seriously looks like the Silent Disco is right behind the beer tent in the middle of the Which field...that's gonna suck if it really is...

Really excited about doing Bonnaroo and Firefly back to back and that resolving most of all my conflicts. Well, other than the fact that two of my can't miss acts at each are Tyler and A$AP both of which play during M83.
Still low key pissed Ellie plays basically unopposed at both.

You also have metal with Lamb of God or one of the few legendary acts in Claypool during Ellie.

Hitting the home stretch here. This one has bugged me for a while. Anderson East vs Grace Potter vs Whilk n Misky vs Sausage Party.
For me, I'm here for the music, because there's no greater experience than live music. The crowd, the energy, the showmanship of the artist on stage owning that hour or more. However, even with Sausage party coming out two months later....it would be awesome to see it before anyone else. Especially since I'm a huge Seth Rogen fan. On the flip side, I've missed Grace Potter with the Nocturnals twice, and Grace solo 3x over the last 2 years. Really digging Anderson East, they play him at work all the time, and I've been hooked. Then there's that strange music with Whilk n Misky, and awful named band that is actually pretty decent. This is definitely a game-time decision but it's tough, suggestions?
Conflict: (Anderson East vs Grace Potter vs Whilk n Misky) vs Sausage Party advanced screening.

No love for Chicano Batman? But I really did enjoy being able to brag about seeing Trainwreck early last year if that would tip Sausage Party in your favor
