Heard from a very, very reliable source that Phoenix will be touring around this time. Interesting, not exactly in line with previous years headliners.

Same source said Liam Gallagher will be on the bill. Noel played the fest in 2015.
It makes sense. I know they tried to get Vampire Weekend in 2014.
Great news that Phoenix will be playing next year. I've been wondering about them for a while now. New album won't be far behind
I remember reading an article in 2014 that mentioned they had begun working on ideas for the next album, but I haven't been able to find any updates other than an interview with Zane Lowe in December 2015. Mars mentioned that they were in the studio and were optimistic about releasing new music in 2016, but I'm guessing the album won't be ready until next spring at the earliest. Regardless, I feel confident about them making a live return and hitting up some festivals in 2017. It's going to be an awesome year for indie rock.

Anyone feel like giving me a logistical breakdown of SK? What are the stages like, any soundbleed issues, how are lines, how is the food, how is it getting to and from the fest (I assume just walk from your downtown hotel), is VIP worth it, etc. Any details would be appreciated, thanks.

There are two parks (Centennial and Int'l Plaza). Soundbleed isn't an issue but getting from one side to another is a fucking chore. The lines are fine. The food is good as long as you make wise choices (Fox Bros, holy shit 10/10) Yes, it's easy to walk to your hotel. VIP doesn't look worth it anymore

thanks so much. damn, the walk between centennial and int'l looks to be about half a mile? i can see how that could be a pain, especially with crowds.
fox bros was a regular stop for a while whenever we were in atlanta for a show. place is great, i'll probably exclusively buy their food if i go to SK.
anyway hoping for a dope lineup, festival looks like it is a breeze compared to bonnaroo.
EDIT: i went ahead and booked a cancellable hotel room near the park, just in case.

Its not just the walk, they have a really shaky bridge that goes over one of the roads.

Shaky Knees has consistently been one of the best run fests I've ever been too. Yea, the container bridge isn't great but realistically it's a pretty elegant solution to a tough problem. Hopefully they'll have two this year because that would make a huge difference.
I like SK a lot because everything is easy and just works. I've never waited in line for a porta potty or to fill my water bottle. Food lines are generally manageable and easy to plan around. Everything starts on time. The sound is good. It's usually easy to get a good spot. The amenities are fun. It's just great. If you like the lineup I say go for it.
Oh yea and Fox Bros all the way. Fill your bag with pimento cheese sammies when you get there and have a ball.

edit: Just announced Early Bird VIP is $425 plus fees, or $150 a day, last year i spent about $110 a day incl ticket, drinks, food.
After last year spending $10 a beer all day each day and having to miss a few bands to be in a better spot for my favorites I am leaning towards VIP. They gave out Fox Bros as the complimentary food and that was what i ate 5 times last year, free beer all day and you get a spot close to stage immediately when you walk up. The early bird price makes it about a wash based on what i spent on food, beer, and missing a couple bands for me. Plus being able to walk out and hang in general admission whenever is nice as well.

Slowdive played last year and Beck just played Music Midtown.

Forgot about Slowdive playing last year. If an act plays Music Midtown one year, does that pretty much rule them out for an ATL fest the next year?
If so, that's a bummer. I know Sweetwood has been trying to book Beck for awhile.
