Looking more and more like my friends and I are going to skip out on Roo and do this instead. When do passes sell out? Need time to convince a straggler to join us in Brooklyn for the weekend.

Usually starts selling out around late April/May. Pay attention to FB and Twitter, theyll give ppl a heads up when tix are running low.
I volunteered last year. You do have to deposit money, which you will get back after the festival. I'm honestly not sure if there's a pre show or not. I worked during the day from 2 to 6 I believe. I do know that the shifts are first come first serve and that you will pick them at the same time you submit your deposit.
So is the schedule out when you choose your shift? Bonnaroo will have you pick your top three artists and they try to schedule you around that.

Hey Hey! In regards to volunteer positions at Gov Ball 2017 stay tuned, more volunteer info will be released soon. About the scheduling at Roo, it depends on what During Show position you pick. Trash Talker™ and Table Bussers get the opportunity to schedule themselves, based on some guidelines we provide. We do our very best to make sure you have a fair schedule based on the artists you select and the friends that you may be volunteering with.
Don't hesitate to email volunteers@cleanvibes.com with any CLEAN VIBES volunteer related question.
It was an edit with an accidental deletion. It previously said one of the best rock festival mid and upper card lineups (as opposed to Jazz Fest which has the most talent overall, much of it in the lower card). That's not to imply it was all rock as obviously they have some great rap/hiphop, just more of what we'd call rock festival. I guess any fest could be considered a "music festival", but I was drawing a distinction. But then I decided fuck it and just edited that part out but also took out that word. So that was my bad. Nevertheless, there are plenty of good mid and upper card acts as compared to a lot of the other rock or modern music festivals that have announced already.

Yeah Gov Ball's not a rock festival. The hip-hop lineups have been the best part of it more than once, including this year. Also, only two of the top 10 this year are rock bands. And that ratio is pretty consistent throughout

I was a little turned off by all the hip hop when it first came out, but it's also the type of hip hop I'm into so it wasn't as bad as I thought. I was bored by chance at Meadows last year though, so I'm going to have to try and get more into him

Yeah, way more of what we'd say Rock though definitely tilted toward metal. I think Carolina Rebellion had some good acts too (in a sea of other shit I don't want to hear). But for Rocklahoma, Soundgarden, Pretty Reckless, Zakk Sabbath and Suicidal (pledge your allegiance) would be worth it to me if I lived near there.
Right, and I think it's pretty good too. Maybe I misunderstood and you were chiding the thread or something. Because really who gives a **** if the peanut gallery doesn't care about Tool because they don't know any Tool songs? I guess you were just repeating that people did and didn't mean to imply that you were taking that spirit seriously, more calling it out on others?
What's the general "feel" of Gov Ball? I imagine it's a lot like Landmark Festival (DC) was in 2015 (focus is the music, fairly spread out, diverse crowd and not all teens like Firefly)?
Enjoying the city before/after the day's sets (big plus) and of course the fantastic lineup are the main selling points. What are some other factors I should take into consideration?
It was more of a reminder that pages 13 and 14 of this thread exist. I'm a big fan of a good backread every once in a while, but maybe I'm a weirdo
I think the talk about Tool was regarding people outside of inforoo. This place loves them. But I'd argue that most people going to music festivals now, especially the under-30 crowd don't really know who they are. As a big music fan, I had somehow never heard of them before coming to Inforoo. Either way this is a good lineup though
