How are ticket sales? 3 day VIP's (along with 3 day GA's and each specific day) are all readily available. Hoping this is close to selling out so the festival dosen't go anywhere.

I'm sure it's doing fine but I wouldn't be surprised if this is a year where none of it sells out. After looking at The Meadows headliners you can just see the weaknesses here:
Tool - I know they have a fanbase but no one under the age of 25 knows who they F they are because you can't find their music. And I don't know if their NYC fanbase will go to a Festival Atmosphere in Randall's Island to see them - could just drive see a full show in Hershey, PA.
Chance - Great live and has a ton of buzz - but he is playing EVERYWHERE.
Childish/Phoenix - They're subheadiners realistically. Phoenix has lost whatever steam it has around Bankrupts! release and while the Childish exclusive is a great get he's still not a Jay-Z in terms of moving tickets.
Just my opinion - I'm still going Friday/Saturday but I can see how it lacks that "holy sh*t we need to go" feel.

You think tickets to the Meadows will move quicker?

Yeah the Meadows will 100% sell quicker than govball. Aside from the strong big named headliners, its also more convenient to get to opposed to Randalls Island.
I think govball may sell out friday and saturday....but I bet Sunday will still have tickets for sale at the gate.

I feel like this is at least the sixth post you've made complaining about the Tool booking. I'm under 25, the majority of my friends are under 25 and we've all heard plenty of Tool songs and enjoy them. It's not an artist I listen too often but I appreciate what they are. They put on a great show at Voodoo and I'd see them again given the chance. There's 8.5 million people living in NYC with the majority not having personal transportation and relying on public transit. I doubt many Tool fans go through the trouble of going to Hershey PA to see a more intimate performance. Just because you don't understand the booking doesn't make it a bad booking. You can find their music on YouTube I'd recommend watching lyric videos to get a better feel of them, it's what helped them click for me.

It definitely helps that Tool's back catalog is all over Youtube, but they are totally shooting themselves in the foot by not releasing their music on streaming services.
And an open air setting where you can smoke weeeeeed is a much better setting for Tool than in some shitty multi-purpose arena.
Also if it was just that easy to go to Hershey, PA then they must have one huge arena that is so big it can fit all the Tool fans in NYC without selling out. Must be a 200,000 seat arena.

Hell, I've got 40 year old friends coming up from DC just for Sunday night because of tool

I can say in full confidence that tool gives 0 fucks about shooting themselves in the foot

As someone who's seen Tool a bunch, this is not true. Lasers work better in enclosed spaces. Then there's the whole aspect of people talking throughout the whole thing. I would love to see Tool at a fest because I haven't yet, but I would see them inside 9/10 times.

You're right about people talking throughout, but that could easily happen in an arena show as well. And unlike a venue with fixed seating, you can move around at a festival to avoid these individuals, or - even better - be with the true OGT's at the very front since it's all general admission.
Tool's entire NA tour is sold-out. After Stubhub fees its cheaper to see them at Gov Ball on a single-day pass than at one of their headline shows.
I dont get why they are playing these smaller stadiums instead of the main venues. Patriot Center instead of Verizon Center for example in DC, same with Allstate Arena instead of United Center in Chicago
