Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, P Groove, CBDB...definitely aiming at wooks again
Curious how P Groove is linked with Basnectar and Pretty Lights?
Check out TAUK. Best drummer you will see imo and one of my favorite bands
The crossover between jam bands, jamtronica and pure EDM. Add TAUK in too. It's all the same variety of fans at festivals. They may dress different but they all enjoy it and the "vibes".

Gotcha on the fan connection. I strongly disagree with anyone who calls TAUK or PGroove jamtronica, the only thing electronic about TAUK are AC's synths and Isaac has an electronic pad with his kit.

Only being about 2 hours away, I'll still go to this. The fest is really enjoyable and I see enough value here to justify it.
Going from the top line we had hopes for to this was a punch in the gut, but I'll still have fun at Usher. The rest of that top line is god awful.
Undercard has enough gems for me to go - Solange, Blood Orange, Anderson Paak, and George Clinton are all great gets. Really heartbroken we didn't get Tame Impala or Arcade Fire, but I'm still hopeful for a Chance addition.

Agreed. They run in those circles and tour with those bands, but they're progressive jazz or jazz fusion to me. That's why I love that shit. Plus I grew up on that style of mid/late 70's jazz. All the pre-cursor shit which is all slightly different like Jeff Beck (Wired era), Bruford the band, Roy Ayers, Spyro Gyra, Jeff Lorber Fusion, Weather Report, Return to Forever, Lifetime, Brand (motherfuckin') X, Pierre Moerlin's Gong, Brecker Brothers were some of the great stuff that came before. And now a days, Snarky Puppy would be somewhat of contemporaries of Tauk.
I admittedly should be at Dweezil Plays Whatever the *#(% He Wants on Saturday, but I have to go to Tauk.
Definitely returning for this one, last year was so much freaking fun. Sure Kings of Leon blow, but the 24 hour real DJ music in 2 different environments to compliment the 3 main stages makes it all worthwhile. Lovely collection of electronic dance music artists, and choice picks in each of the other genres too (P funk at a festival will be glorious, and that gospel soul sounds interesting). Truly attracted a beautiful crowd with all the vibes, this lineup should do much the same. And it is so easy, not too far to walk anywhere and perfect weather. Very reasonably priced for what you get. Even if they don't add anyone else it will be just fine.
Bring it Jake! And it will be worth wrecking yourself 2 weekends in a row Steve:-)

Haha. What's up billion. Let us know once the Buku lineup comes out if you need a place to crash again. Door is open of course (Cheesedick as well).

Glad to hear some optimism. KoL wouldn't be bad except it's the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW for me. When you only go to a couple festivals a year that becomes irritating enough at two years. Let's hope for some good shit in the coming waves. From last year, it looks like there was about a dozen significant artists added between phase 2 and 3. We are probably not improving the headliners, but that could be a very doable undercard.

I have seen P-Funk at two fests (2014 Peach and 2016 Catskill Chill). If youre expecting old school P-Funk, you will be disappointed. The show has evolved into more than half of the time being his grandkids rapping. George rarely sings anymore and is basically a hype man who asks the crowd for weed half of the show. I still enjoy the classics but it is a mess of a show at times now. Still love George though.

You should have probably been at the Bear Creek Bayou set. Yeah, they rapped one or two songs, but it was old school, blow-outs, silver sparkling funk clothes, 12 people on stage, etc. It was a funk festival so obviously it leaned in that direction. But that was last month. And it ruled as fuck.
Usher & The Roots Flume Solange Porter Anderson Paak Blood Orange Sleigh Bells Gallant Bad Bad Not Good George Clinton Nightmares on Wax DJ Set
... to be fair... they could add like 2 acts to this and if properly time slotted I'd go.
Sleigh Bells was pretty damn good when we saw them at Buku 14. It was like if Die Antwoord wasn't so damn annoying but just the loudest and hardest set you'd expect from that genre. I didn't expect to much like it, and my ears were ringing coming out (i'm already mostly deaf from too many years of music).

Buku plus Okee back to back will be hard to swing. I need that PTO like you got. Haha.

Catskill is like the most laid back fest ever with a focus on funk and they spent nearly 3/4 of their set with the kids rapping and George just walking around. My girlfriend, who doesn't know George Clinton's stuff (don't ask), turns to me and says "do they know what festival they are at?". The Peach set was fun. I didn't hate either. It just hasn't been 70's P-Funk.

Usher + Roots Flume (I guess?) Pretty Lights Young the Giant Porter Anderson Paak Griz Cold War Kids Bleachers Sleigh Bells Louis the Child Moon Taxi Nightmares on Wax
This is what I got without really investigating this further. I'm assuming that most of these probably wouldn't confict, this isn't too bad.
BTW what's this about a jail on the festival grounds?? Is the security that bad?

I read a long review after this year's set and some people inadvertently got to camp in front of what turned out to be the processing unit. They said it was pretty much non-stop (and entertaining though they hated everyone getting arrested). The news said 70 were, so out of 30,000, that's really only 4 hundreths of a percent which isn't all that bad. I think the story was reddit, and it was pretty funny.
We got the 2 hour set, and it was a mix of old and new. But of course they busted out Flash Light, We Want the Funk, and a bunch of their other older hits. I can't find a setlist, but it was only a few rap songs in those 2 hours.

Totally agree about TAUK's drummer. That dude is a mad man. I caught a drum stick from him once and it was almost broken in half from all the rim shots he was doin.
Usher & The Roots Flume Rae Sremmurd Pretty Lights Solange Anderson .Paak Blood Orange Mac Demarco Sleigh Bells The Growlers Joey Purp BADBADNOTGOOD FKJ George Clinton
Not bad...but there's nobody that gets me REALLY excited. Besides maybe Mac Demarco and The Growlers. It does seem like a fun festival though. A Chance the Rapper add would really help. The hip hop overall seems to be lacking

For what it's worth the admin/booking guy in the street team group replied to a comment about how they should have two more big names like "Chance, ASAP, Lynard Skynard" with "There's always a Chance." With previous rumors I'd say he's close to a lock.

We watched the Pretty Lights livestream last night from San Jose, CA. Outside of the freestyle, the show was great. On the PL website, they list Pretty Lights LIVE for Okeechobee. If the Okeechobee set has his current band, it's a musical treat. Brandon Butler, Borahm Lee, Chris Karns, DVS and Alvin Ford, Jr. This wasn't that crazy analog future band we saw for the after-Buku party. It was an improvisational interpretation of Pretty Lights songs. Some familiar, some jam. But the talent level is sick.
We'll get the back to back NYE shows here. Those will be different sets altogether probably from what he's doing on this tour because it's NYE. Also, I heard he's living back here in town again. That means we'll probably get some additional special guests up with him for those shows.

according to reddit, if you go on the Okeechobee app KOL are the only act actually listed as a headliner. High level additions (Chance and Tame?) definitely still feel possible.

That's on the basis of KoL having a bigger picture in the app than anyone else. I'm not sure I'd hold out any hopes for that meaning anything. Either way, I definitely think there will be some solid additions. Looking back at the first wave of last year, it really wasn't any different than this year. Mumford-Kendrick-Skrillex compared to KoL - Usher+Roots - Bassnectar. It looks bad because of KoL, I mean does anyone really care between Nectar/Skrillex? The Nectar fans make it less appealing I guess.
