The Black Keys - Lana Del Rey - Flume - Chance The Rapper - The Flaming Lips - G-Eazy - Pretty Lights
Even if this is realistic I'd be kind of disappointed personally. For my tastes this is just about a worst case scenario. That said I don't think this is what we see, at least with Black keys and Lana Del Rey.
I don't think any law exists that says you can't do that haha. They came no where near close to selling out. But by saying they did it created a bit more hype, made it sound like a hotter ticket than it really is. Anything to give them a leg up. Festivals in Florida generally don't do well; but I think in a time when festivals are all becoming very similar; Okeechobee stands out as a unique experience. I hope they do well and grow.
Check out this sold crowd for LCD at T in the Park in Scotland!
1) This is the most depressing festival image ever this year ^^^ 2) Yeah I didn't think it was illegal but, on the other hand, it is Florida, and America where any lawsuit dream can come true. 3) I'm more and more thinking of making Okeechobee a definite for 2017
The full set is on youtube. It is really depressing anytime they pan to the crowd (which isnt very often)
I worked wrist band customer support and we did have 1 day wristbands, but they were never used because they did sell out the 30000 tickets they limited it to.

They have 800 acres of space (Bonnaroo is only 700 acres) and they set the capacity to 30,000? Cmon now.

While the total space of the festival may have been large, the actual venue space for the 3 main stages was much smaller than Centeroo.

I think they had said they were limiting capacity in the first year. I fully expect them to jump to 50,000 this year and make adjustments to stage placement where necessary. Will beInteresting to see whether the lineup justifies the increase.

They most likely realized they weren't going to do much more than 30,000 in the weeks leading up, reconfigured the layout, and set a capacity they knew they could reach.

Reminds me of what Panorama did this year. Moving the main stage up 50 some odd feet so they could claim a 50,000 capacity venue, was really a 40,000 capacity venue..

I don't know anything about this type of thing, but if the Okee layout was reconfigured I don't think it was by much. The "Grove" is enclosed by trees, I don't think there's much leeway in terms of capacity, at least not enough to move either of the main stages by something like 50 feet.
Also I do remember reading that they planned to limit capacity, though if memory serves it was supposed to be 35k not 30k.

Well none of us really know. All speculation. But I just can't wrap my head around how an event with more space than the biggest festivals in the country, can set a capacity at 1/3rd the size of its counterparts. It doesn't add up.

Ask the guy that thinks Bonnaroo sold 45k tickets on purpose.
It was limited to 30000 the first year to see how things would work out. The main concnert venue was probaly 1/5 of the size as centeroo. They also only used 500 acres the first year.

Maybe because they didn't want to blow their load early and have a shitshow they couldn't handle if 100k people showed up. Idk.

Lets be real: they knew they weren't going to come anywhere close to 100k. They only hit the 30k like a day before the fest?

Obviously man. I'm just trying to point out that purposefully limiting capacity in a first year business to hit a easy double instead of risking a shitshow out trying to blast a home run isn't out of the ordinary.

Well I think its just what I said before. They set a capacity in the final weeks that they knew they could hit and claim the sell out. No shame in that. It grabbed a few headlines. Good promotion for the fest.

Probably exactly what happened but that still doesn't reason out your claim is to why it was set as low as it was given their large grounds. Both are very likely why.

Ouch!
Anyways, Okee!!!

I can't stop watching this.... if I we're better with video editing I'd plop something awkward that James is staring at.....like the Calvin Harris crowd.
