While the total space of the festival may have been large, the actual venue space for the 3 main stages was much smaller than Centeroo.
They most likely realized they weren't going to do much more than 30,000 in the weeks leading up, reconfigured the layout, and set a capacity they knew they could reach.
I remember reading on the website before the lineup even dropped that "Sunshine Grove" would be limited to a 30,000 person capacity in order to preserve the grounds . I also remember being on a conference call for the street team and the leader answered a question saying in the future they would look to have multiple festivals a year at the Sunshine Grove if and only the grounds were kept preserved. They seemed to put huge emphasis on maintaining the land. Also the Friday of the Festival there were hundreds of posts on the Facebook looking for tickets and we saw tons of peoplr with signs out front while we left to grab supplies.

can i ask how were the lands when the fest was over in comparison to thursday?
Honestly, the only thing that kept this festival from being flawless to me was the grotesque amount of god-awful bassnectar fans.
You really hate Bassnectar fans
The fucked up thing is, Lorin seems like a genuinely great dude. It's just the fanbase he attracts doesnt reflect that. They are the opposite of "Radiate Positivity"

Of the 100+ small and big artists I've ever personally met and talked to for an extended period of time, he's easily one of the nicest but it's so true about his fans.

Their are some nice/friendly "bassheads". But when they flock by the thousands to every fest and take up a rail for 12 hours the day of his show, they're going to piss people off. Some of the worst crowds I've ever experienced have been at Bassnectar but I guess I don't "love him enough" to get over the shit crowds at his shows. Not that it has much support on here but Bassnectar fans have pretty much taken over EForest.

I wish they announced what day camping will start. I want to plan out my trip but I'd need to know which day they will let everyone in. Did the ticket include camping last year?
Edit: They say the "gates open at 12 noon" on March 2nd. So I suppose that could mean that's the earliest camping check in? Of course that could also just mean that's when everyone can actually get into the festival grounds.

Exactly why I would be very disappointed if he was a reoccurring act at Okee.
Will they do the lineup in waves again? I hate when festivals do that
if i remember correctly, they didnt announce the initial lineup as "wave 1". so i think they never intended to do that, but just continued to book artists after the first lineup drop.
Somebody on reddit claims that they sent Okeechobee a snap asking about whether Chance was booked and received a bulls eye in response.
Headliner or not Chance seems to be the most likely artist at this point, with Arcade Fire looking more questionable.
Chance is good but is he really that big of a get? If they're "doing big things" this year, would Chance ever be or even justify being a headliner? I mean Breakaway Fest (Columbus) even got him and that lineup is embarrassing. He'd be great as an undercard but I'd be a little disappointed if he's one of three (guessing #) headliners.

They definitely labeled the first lineup drop as a first phase. There was a second phase after that, and after they revealed artists as they booked them (Classixx, Mac Miller) and stage lineups like Jungle 51.

Well I think most agree but with him "headlining" The Meadows, and Okeechobee only bothering to like Radiohead, Arcade Fire, and Chance on twitter... I think there's at least a sizable chance (no pun intended) he is at the top line. Perhaps split with a big EDM name like the Chainsmokers or Jack U.

Damn I keep forgetting about his billing at Meadows! That's crazy. Good for him though, seems like a seriously cool ass dude.
