lol so I got: "at Flume. Lot of what look to be high chicks walking around in only bras" .... "It's a perfect night for a lawn concert" .... (referring to Chrome Sparks) "From an outside I enjoyed it. He's quaking weird but it was solid" .... "it's simple but has a decent beat. The drummer with him was great" .... "smoke just hit the air. I hope some ... not so secretly" .... "lots of lesbians here. Normal?" .... "The light show is worth the ticket price" .... "Worth seeing. The light show? awesome. The experience? Great. If it were indoor I don't know if it's the same" .... "I would totally go to another EDM show if it was like this"
We have a believer. I also thought it was funny someone who likes nothing remotely close to that (loves Taylor Swift and top 40 pop) enjoyed himself enough to consider other acts. Flume: Confirmed
Wishlist: Daft Punk (ehh), Chemical Bros (also ehh), Justice, Porter x Madeon - Shelter, Flume, Kaskade, Prydz, Big Grizmatik, Kygo (if he has improved his mixing)
Likely (Pull-From) List: Major Lazer, Chainsmokers, Garrix, Hardwell, Marshmello, Steve Aoki, Allison Wonderland, Jack U, Bassnectar, Disclosure

Chainsmokers aren't playing. I'd say we can count Jack U out. Bassnectar is probably out too (not as unlikely as Jack U but I'd say we have other acts in line)

I'm just afraid that they know Bassnectar will push tickets. May not be who they want there, but ultimately they have to increase ticket sales and Bassnectar does that better than any EDM act.

out of the listed acts I'd say we get Kygo or Major Lazer at the top, maybe Flume, maybe Big G, hopefully Porter madeon, maybe Bassnectar.

After seeing 15 minutes of MLazer at Forest, I'd rather stand in front of an empty stage during that time slot until the next act comes on. I still can't believe the nonsense I witnessed.

that bad? I honestly really enjoyed their last album for what it was and would prefer them to Kygo or somebody else at the top.

Yeah I've been reading that Major Lazer as really turned into quite the mess of a performance compared to what people used to think of them. And I REALLY hope they don't book Bassnectar again. His fans are insufferable at those shows. He's been doing a lot of his own little mini festivals anyways so hopefully he stays away. He would cost a lot but I wouldn't put it past them to get like a Hardwell or Garrix at this point.

yuck. But honestly regardless of who gets booked I often skip the higher EDM acts for something else (Like D'Angelo in 15) so it wouldn't surprise me if I did that again

It's not a concert when they perform, it's a full blown shit show. In the 15-20 minutes I caught, I was told to take my shirt off, get down (they stopped until you did it), and told to do 50 different things with my hands. And that doesn't even begin to explain how obnoxious the music was. EVERY SINGLE DROP I witnessed was cut off by Diplo and either he or their hype man starting bullshitting for 30 seconds before they let it drop.

I tend to agree. I did go up for Deadmau5 because I feel like it's a rare act to be able to see but yes that year in particular the undercard was so strong they could have put Aoki at the top and it still would have been a good EDM lineup.

Ugh it makes me angry just thinking about it.
hahaha! So you got down on the ground? were they making people do pushups or something? that's kind of funny haha.

We were walking through the crowd to get to another stage so we stood out like a sore thumb haha. If they would have called us out I would have gave Diplo the deserved one finger salute.
I think it started as them telling everyone to get down on a knee(like your praying), but they realized it was too packed and eventually it turned into getting down and then JUMPING UP LIKE YOUR SO EXCITED AND HAVEN"T ALREADY DONE IT 50 TIMES THAT WEEKEND!!!! WOOHOOOO

Since 2015 sold better I assume theyll go for a couple high name EDM acts which they failed to do in 2016.
I think Roo will certainly book one or two of the following: Kygo, Jack U (Coachella crowd was massive), Calvin Harris, Axwell ^ Ingrosso, Zedd, Pretty Lights
Some acts I think we will likely see sprinkled into the undercard: Shelter (or just Porter), Gramatik, Marshmello, Baauer
Roo usually books a decent variety of EDM, but 2016 was full of shitty trap. I can see them moving towards future bass or whatever else is trendy.

Yeah I'd expect the same. Axwell^Ingrosso just makes me cringe everytime I see it. It's been such a disaster of a SHM "rebrand" and I loved swedish house mafia. Just give me a Swedish House Mafia reunion and I'd be happy (Yes I know SHM likely isn't a favorite here lol)
I'm not the biggest EDM guy but I'd be Basshead level of camping out the rail for 12 hours if we got a Swedish house mafia reunion.
If they ever get over their differences with Steve, I'd see them as a Coachella, Creamfields, and Glasto (and maybe either Tomorrowland or Ultra) headliner one year. Unfortunately, no chance Roo would get it lol.

Steve seems like a pretty genuine guy and isn't as onboard with the mainstream train that EDM is on and I gotta think that's why they started to disagree on SHM. I still think it's too soon to reunite something like that. Even if they did, zero chance Roo would get them. Roo has a pretty good history of not book/missing the main stage EDM acts they should so we shouldn't get our hopes up that they will pull the trigger if that were to happen.

That being said, I would love A ^ I if they brought them in. Could be a lot worse options

Live Nation owns half of Insomniac/Electric Forest. Not sure whether Forest will overlap with Roo. But I can't imagine it will effect things too much lineup wise.

If LN were to try and get people locked into 2 show contracts or something like that they could totally have someone play both festivals (you play roo this weekend then EF the next weekend) or they could easily fly up to Michigan on the weekend after playing Roo and vice versa. Didn't Kaskade and/or Zedd do it for Spring Awakening a few years ago?
