At this point, who would we want/accept the most as the top EDM act this year? I'm talking in terms of realistic and likely. Mine would be Skrillex. Kind of crosses over to rock fans to a degree and has a massive assortment of songs/styles he could pull from.
(Clearly Daft Punk isn't an option and I don't think someone like Justice would be the top billed EDM regardless)
Why don't you think Justice could be the top billed electronic act? The highest billed EDM act was at 18 this year and Justice would probably be billed above 18. I think they'll book more top tier EDM acts this year since thats what sells nowadays, but if they don't Justice wouldn't be too out of place as the top billed electronic act.

Man, I feel like Above & Beyond is soooooo overdue. We talk about it every year. We should just bombard their twitter and social media about it until it forces their hand or they get so mad they at least tell us to Quack Off.

FTFY
haha they are another one that is talked about every year and is never booked. or not recently I should say. Instead they repost those stupid instagram lineups that people make with their macaroni and crayons and then probably pull names from those to lock down.
Above and Beyond plays trouse and big room trance now so it wouldn't be that great of a booking. My friend said their acoustic performance in LA was beautiful though, wouldnt work at Roo though.

While I may be biased, I respectfully disagree. A late night Above & Beyond set on Which would draw a lot of people (i.e.: Kaskade or Zedd whatever year that was, those crowds were massive). We're talking about a group that is considered a Headliner at every event or festival they perform. I don't think that they are a likely booking but their show is top notch
Rufus Du Sol's album is house music for people who don't like house music in my eyes. I can totally see the appeal to others, but every song is too slow or just kind of boring. It's like Bob Moses on Melatonin.

I dig the Floating Points live set, but a lot of it seems to be inprovisional and many of the stuff they played live barely had melody. Just seems weird when Elaenia is a pretty melodic album.

When I saw them it seemed very improvisational, but strong themes from Elaenia would float in and out of it. Lots of buildups and teases, but definitely strong melodic moments. Kinda reminded me of some of long phish jams that take a few minutes to ddevelop.
It's up there with sigur Ros as one of my favorite shows of the year.

It did have some of the best Elaenia bits pop up, but I'm going with Phyre Fest and saying I preferred his DJ set.

Different strokes, I s'pose. I'll take a live band over DJ set, but I also have more of a crunchy jam scene pedigree.
