So CHVRCHES are doing a show of only cover songs tonight in BK, but I already have Lemaitre tix. I did get the Lemaitre tix for free from that ticketmaster settlement thing though.. Which should I go to?
You'll probably have 3 or 4 chances to see CHVRCHES next year at different fests/random shows. I'd take advantage of Lemaitre for sure.
It'll be cool to finally catch him at Day For Night. I loved some of the stuff he did with Marcus Marr this year.
Here's an interesting tidbit on the new album:
"I was working with Rick Rubin at the beginning of this record at [his] Shangri La Studios, which was an amazing experience -- Neil Young was hanging out in the backyard!"
Murphy "never wanted to leave" the bearded guru's legendary Malibu studios, which has been frequented by Jake Bugg, Angus and Julia Stone, James Blake and, most recently, Kendrick Lamar.
"But this record… it took a different turn." A turn form the sunny coastal haven of Los Angeles to the gritty, urbane energy of the Big Apple.
"I think New York has been a big influence on this record and just my experience there, the density of life, you get a month's experience in one day. Just walking around and experiencing that electricity that city has, that's been the driving force behind it."
"That's one of the main reasons I didn't end up finishing the record in Shangri La either, [it's] chilled out there - smoothies, roll a cigarette on the beach, bunny rabbits running around in the grass - it's perfect! But for this record it just didn't click. This record has a sort of tension to it and there's just no tension at Shangri La, it's just the most chilled place ever."

Nah I am pretty sure CHVRCHES are done for this album cycle. And this isn't a normal CHVRCHES show. They are just doing covers. I will probably stick with Lemaitre though.

Damn I didn't realize they were putting that album to rest. Probably a good thing but the covers-only show sounds like a lot of fun. Still would go with L though.

Lemaitre was so much fun. Such an underrated act. I have seen them a few times in the past, but this is the first time I got to see them do Strobes pt 2 live (my favorite song of theirs). Good times.
They played a lot of C2C between sets, whatever happened to those guys?
Also new Chemical Bros came out this morning. The song isnt all that great, but I hope it means theyll come around again.
I don't think this song was ever intended to be released. They make it sound like it was just a thing they did on their last tour, and decided to put out there because fans asked.
Porters live set at Voodoo was absolutely amazing, don't know how someone could say his set is boring. Not super big on EDM, but far better than carnage or excision will ever be in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure the difference is that you're setting the bar at carnage and excision.

only really brought up those two artists cause they closed out the EDM stages at Voodoo.
RUFUS DU SOL is here Weds and still on the fence about going or not.
If I wasn't going to Griz Thursday then I'd be there for sure. Rufus is a lot of fun.
Shit man I totally forgot we have Griz rolling through too. Dear lord I don't know if I can do 2 shows back to back like that going into a weekend with Team USA v Mexico on Friday night and Buckeyes noon game on Saturday.

Yeah I'd suck it up if I didn't work at 6:30 am on weekdays lol. I can sack up for a long Friday but can't do it b2b.
