The chain smokers are better than Kygo and that's saying something
I mean they play two different sub-genres of music. What constitutes "better" aside from personal preference? When I saw Kygo in Amsterdam, the crowd and his set was much more enjoyable than the Chainsmokers this year in my opinion.
Maybe. I've seen both and the Kygo sound grew old fast while at least the chain smokers tried to mix it up a bit. Both are not my cup of tea.
As far as live sets go they both suck. Can't mix for shit and pretty much just play their most popular songs with a cross fade that most of us could pull off in iTunes...
Ok maybe that's an exaggeration. Really though, I'd rather get some budget dj'a that at least do some real mixing like trippy turtle or for this year cashmere cat. Dude was the first dj set I've gone too where I was actually enjoying myself and I don't think he even said a word.
Despite playing practically the same set since last spring, they've rocketed up lineups. They headline any edm-mix fest besides the big 2 or 3. I'd much rather see Porter near the top but his Worlds show (or what's left of it) has pretty much run its course too.
I could even see Odesza above Kygo since they've blown up more domestically then Kygo (in the fest scene). Galantis isn't even fully focused on the group considering Miike Snow has been all over.

Porters Worlds show is pretty much over. There has only been a handful in 2016 thus far. I'm sure next summer hell be pretty quiet while working on new material.

My main point behind the original statement was that more fans who aren't EDM people will know Galantis more so than Odesza. They may be big in the EDM scene but I still think Galantis would be a bigger name in terms of the average everyday music fan.
That being said. I'd much rather Miike Snow become a standard thing and just be done with Galantis all together if it were up to me.

I disagree. Small sample size but as far as I know Odesza has way more name recognizition with my friends than Galantis.
Edit: having said that though, I just compared Spotify numbers and holy shit....

Haha I was going to use the friends part in my reasoning where I think my friends know about Galantis (or at least their songs) and have zero clue who Odesza is. I guess it probably comes down to just what different groups of people listen to or are privy to.

I've never heard of Galantis, but my exploration of EDM is almost exclusively based around who is playing Roo, so that's how started listening to Odesza

Haha no kidding. Weird how that works. Luck of the draw as you said.
Speaking of Odesza, looks like they really upped their game for Red Rocks. Hope all their live shows going forward are similar.
If that's what their shows going forward are like, ODESZA are going to be a must-get for every major festival next year. I'm really loving this the direction that more and more electronic acts are moving towards. Bring on the era of "live" electronic!

They needed a serious production facelift but I always hesitate to take a Red Rocks performance as a sign of what's to come. The Rocks seem to be a venue that "newer" EDM artists go absolutely all out for because of how awesome of a venue it is. If they're upcoming shows are similar then they will be a top 3 EDM fest act next year. If not, then they need to please hibernate next summer and create some new music.

Oh.
You don't understand. Those are live humans playing the drums.
