It stands to follow. They were weirdly obsessed with white-guy-soul-funk this year--Allen Stone, Anderson East, Vulfpeck, the Floozies, and more I may not be remembering. It made me think that sound was sweeping college campuses, and maybe it is for all I know.
Yet Cymande played to a mostly empty field.
To be fair Cymande was early in the day on Sunday AND conflicted with Charles Bradley
I would've definitely caught them otherwise
They were also on the Which stage while the sun was directly overhead. There was no shade and it was just too miserable. I was there in time and went to see the set but after a few long days I didn't have it in me to stand in the sun the whole time.

I think it's weird that the last 3 clues have been mainstream EDM, and Louis the Child has confirmed. On average Roo gets maybe 7 or 8 throughout the weekend? So unless the next Roo clue on Tues is another awful EDM act, we shouldn't have to panic. Considering that Chainsmokers was the highest billed EDM act, and in 2016 in June they weren't quite as popular as they are now: we should probably lower our standards of what the top billing could be. I'm honestly going to guess Marshmello....which would be pretty sad. Would make for easy decisions to skip all EDM of this caliber. I'm also guessing that we won't get Flume, Porter Robinson, or any other EDM act in Okee's top 15. In 2016, Roo didn't share many EDM acts in the top line with Okee so it's clear that they're trying to do their own thing.

Or they figured they fucked up last year by not booking enough/big enough EDM acts. 2013-2015 all had at least one top 10 EDM artist. I'll be stunned if there isn't one this year. I also expect that they wouldn't make those 3 clues those artists if it was a third of their EDM lineup. I'd guess we'll get a fair amount more than previous years, both good and (mostly) bad
I don't know if anyone has thrown these bands into the mix, but Rainbow Kitten Surprise out of Boone, NC is on Hangout and Chobee's lineups and they've been gaining momentum with their recent tours. Another awesome fit would be Susto from Charleston. They're opening for the Lumineers on tour this spring and have a dirty feel that would fit in well during those dusty hot mid day tent sets.
I'm from boone and have seen Rainbow Kitten Surprise multiple times and and each show has been incredible. I also hung out with 2 guys from the band a couple times and they all seem like really nice people. They would fit in at bonnaroo perfectly.

Yeah I'm 90% sure we'll get them. Only indicator otherwise would be if they play SK.

Live were the first real band I ever saw. My first concert was with my parents to see Counting Crows, and Live and Collective Soul were on the bill before them. If those 3 bands in a baseball stadium in NH doesn't sound like a good time, then I don't know what does!

If the rumors about The xx are true, that makes several acts who are touring the U.S. in April/May, playing Primavera, and then turning around and heading back to the U.S. in early June.

Gotcha. Expectations low. At least I live in Jersey. I'm probably gonna try to hit gov ball for the night with tool or the night with chance. One friend is a die hard tool fan and another is a big rap guy who doesn't do many shows. Should be fun regardless.
I really hope Bonnaroo's lineup isn't as boring as Gov Ball, honestly. This might just be a down year for festivals, Coachella is good but not great.
One thing of note is that Gov Ball has absolutely zero non-cheese EDM, which probably isn't a good sign for Bonnaroo.
I think there's a decent chance for an improvement in the indie and hip-hop genres, but if the first handful of confirmed EDM acts are any indication, the electronic offerings are going to be pretty ugly.

Like who?
Also Local Natives and Mac DeMarco. Oddly enough, Skepta is doing Primavera -> Gov Ball -> NOS Primavera over the course of two weekends.
Death Cab for Cutie M83 Haim CHVRCHES Father John Misty Miguel Big Grams Two Door Cinema Club Purity Ring Lord Huron Vince Staples Misterwives Fidlar Marian Hill Bob Moses...
And a couple more at the bottom no one cares about. That's not too bad for crossover.
My wishes for this year's crossover
Chance (cause Tool is a pipedream) Lorde Flume Wu-Tang Schooloby Q Air The Avalanches Phantogram Franz Ferdinand Mac DeMarco Rufus Du Sol YG Royal Blood Danny Brown Michael Kiwanuka Car Seat Headrest
What June U.S. dates do either of those acts have? I don't see any.
None besides Gov Ball...yet. But based on the day-by-day Primavera lineup, Local Natives and Mac DeMarco will play Primavera, and then head to the U.S. for Gov Ball. They're scheduled for Primavera on Wednesday, May 31st, and Friday, June 2nd.
