On one hand I don't care about The XX, like, at all, and I know it's one my buddy will try to drag me to.
On the other hand I know if they don't get The XX that second line spot is gonna go to someone way worse
Kind of where I am. I think they're boring af, but was trying to get excited for them since I actually liked the jamie album and he put on a good show in support.
The metal for Roo this year will probably come in the form of "Babymetal" since they are opening for Chilis. Slot that in for COS' "Surprises" section for their Day After Bonnaroo Lineup article.
Oh, no. Babymetal is so fucking awful.
No need to worry, they're only openings 3 weeks of dates in March/April. Phantogram and Trombone Shorty are opening the other dates on the RHCP tour.
Can we just trade Marshmello out with someone? Like we could have Buckethead vs Slash in a guitar battle or something to suit our "artist who wears a mask" deal? I just really dont get his appeal. Then again I'm not an 18 yr old molly muncher either so thats probably why...

let's just trade him for dotcom, he was better then

Oy... Still hoping for Amon Amarth since they're hitting all the stateside fests in May. I'm assuming the May date in Nashville knocks out Opeth, Gojira, and Devin Townsend. But, man, Babymetal would be rough. And my luck probably the only non-EDM LN option in that slot. "So, do we want to see Getter or Babymetal?" *shudder*
Assuming the XX do Shakey Knees and Phoenix is out, as is being discussed, what are the chances that Phoenix ends up being here instead?
If they're actually not at Shaky I could see that happening. Would seem a little weird to have 3 of GB's top 5 (assuming we get Lorde), but it happened in 2014 and they are both Live Nation fests now.

So, crazy thought that very well may be unrealistic, but I find it worth mentioning. Is it at all possible that, with the xx playing SK, they actually don't get Bon Iver? Then, Bon Iver returns to the states after playing NOS on Thursday or Friday (since I'm assuming they're already coming back to the states for Eaux Claires) and plays Roo Sunday. At all possible? Or has NOS crossover never happened at all?

It's weird that xx isn't playing GB. I thought that was going to be a done deal. So far just Chella in the US. Not liking their chances for Roo now. I never expected Lorde at Roo, seeing that C3 runs Shaky now, I really think Lorde could fill the Florence spot, and that saddens me if Roo missed out on her. I can't see Roo getting Weeknd and Lorde, I know they're going younger of late, but two high profile pop acts in the top 5? I just don't see it. Especially with Chance most likely playing, and clearly at least a 4 at Roo. Lorde as a 5, with U2-RHCP-Weeknd-Chance looks more unrealistic in each mock I see. I'm trying to stay hopeful, but seeing those top three and these awful Roo clues, this top line is going to have a significant drop after Chance.
I'm down. How great would these lineups look with Tool instead of RHCPs though? 😔
Personality I'd prefer A Perfect Circle to Puscifier
i like APC but the one time i saw them god it was just a snoozefest. i'd see either of them for sure but i'm more of a fan of puscifer, some great jams and damn that corina round is a smoke show
At this point I'm looking at the 2015 and 2016 Shakey Knees lineup to see who could be possible for the undercard (knowing that some of the acts aren't touring).
I doubt I will be in attendance this year, but for all other UM fans...don't be surprised if they get scheduled for a late afternoon set at Which (compared to Griz this past year) instead of a late-night spot.
Be nice to them close out a tent LN with a 2-hour set.

They got a similar spot at Bunbury in Cincinnati last year. It was on the main stage and was fine but man, when you can't get the lasers and everything with the performance it really takes away from it.

The 2012 LN show was my first time seeing them, converted me into a big fan.

Why would you think that the xx was a "done deal" for GB when they're headlining Primavera that same weekend?
Sorry. I mean I was pretty confident that GB would've had xx since 2017 is going to be such a big year for them. Plus some acts play GB and Primavera. So it wasn't out of the question.

That was my first UM show too. Had no idea what I was walking into. Loved every second of it!

Crystal Castles would be fun. I liked AMENSTY(I) a lot. I will be really surprised if Lorde doesn't get booked, she's perfect for the Florence/Ellie spot of the past few years. Her sophomore release is one of my most anticipated albums this year! Also, if Phoenix didn't get booked at SK and ends up at Roo.. I would be ecstatic.

You do remember that last year 4-6 was J Cole, Ellie Goulding, and Macklemore, right? Weeknd, Chance, Lorde as 3-5 isn't much different, just a lot better
