I like Twenty One Pilots too. Vessel is great and their live show has fantastic energy.
Say what you want about Firefly's headliners, they may sometimes be tired and uninspired, but they never reach to make a newish band a headliner thats never been.
KoL, Mumford, Florence, Killers, Sir Paul. Those are the headliners since this became an 80,000 person massive festival. All those acts have headlined the bonnaroos and Lolla's before.
There is no precedent for Firefly to crown Twenty One Pilots with headliner status. Which is why i find it odd so many people are like "Yepp 21P headliner that is suchhh a Firefly thing to do".
i think people say its a firefly thing to do because they drew a MASSIVE crowd after being promoted to the main stage in 2014 and have only gotten 10x more popular since, plus they perfectly fit the demo of ff.

I'd be surprised if Firefly didn't book them. They could be their third headliner for a fairly low cost and will sell tons of tickets to the age groups that are most likely to camp.
i think its time to come out to you guys. ive been a pretty big fan of twenty one pilots for around 4 years now. ever since their self titled album dropped ive been a huge fan im not ashamed to say that ive seen them 8 times. that being said, 6 out of the 8 times i saw them were in really small intimate venues, and man do they put on a show. they really are great performers and are wildly talented imo. the past 2 times have been post-blurryface, and the venue/crowd size really takes away from the show if you ask me, and that crowd has changed drastically from low 20 college kids to sophmores in high school pretty quick. that being said, i dont want them to be booked for FF next year, mostly due to the fact that ive seen them plenty of times but also to the fact that the crowd they attract is pretty annoying and i think firefly can do better. please dont hate me too much.
Fuck 21p literally everyone here goes apeshit over them in Columbus just because they're from here. I don't mind some of their song but their fans are so annoying it keeps me from liking the music. Im ranting right now but God I just wish people would shut up and just enjoy the music without bragging that you went to the same high school as them and how they are so "real" and no one else comes close.
Mountain Jam is a better time. By the way who is that in your avatar?
Yeah I mainly go to firefly for my little brother though because the lineup is more up his ally. Although I may just convince him to come to roo instead so I can go to mountain jam haha. Also it's pierre mcguire - a hockey commentator.
So with RHCP playing Philly in Feb, they seem like a so-so possibility to play Firefly just four months after. Not really sure on the radius clause.
I'm not sure radius clause is even an issue with FF? Florence + the Machine played the 104.5 birthday show at BB&T on Friday, then played Saturday at FF.

from what i have noticed the last 2 years there seems to be no radius clause at FF. All of the top acts played Philly or AC or another nearby area the same weekend or week.
That's pretty random. I wanted to seem them last year but didn't end up catching them, so I'm not really upset. Still wouldn't think they'd have that much draw to rebook.

I guess they get a call back because it's their anniversary.

Guster's 25th anniversary as a band is this year. I honestly wouldn't put too much stock in that listing. There's nothing on Pollstar or their website that suggests they're playing Firefly next year. It's probably just an error or a place holder because they played the festival in 2016.

True. Just find it weird that the article is so recent. Also Firefly brings repeats often, usually more popular acts though. Who knows....
I wonder how much Big Barrel set back this idea. From what I heard there were quite a few issues when they ran it, and then they cancelled it last year. I assume that was because of poor ticket sales but maybe they didn't want the headache as well. We all know Red Frog is never really 100% on the ball with everything. If they are going to do 2 weekends they will need to come with a much bigger and better headliner list than last year as well.

That's an interesting point. Honestly I don't think there's enough draw for two weekends. They haven't ever sold out, even if they came close in 2015. They jack up the camping every year, that must made an absurd amount of money from that. How much was Wed camping pass this year? Like almost $300 with fees?

They did sell out in 2015.
Camping is definitely a gold mine for them.
I could see them trying to push for two weekends. Being in the North Eastern US, it's a lot closer to a lot more people than Roo, for example. If they did two weekends with a killer lineup, I could see people choosing that over Roo since it might be closer, cheaper, and have a better lineup. Definitely not this year though.
