god damnit i want this fest to put out decent lineups again
Goldenvoice ruined Firefly
I dont really get Goldenvoice. They book extremely strong lineups each year for FYF and Coachella, but for these other east coast festivals it seems like they are more booking what they think people would like, more so than just going for strong lineups top to bottom.

I mean I get that FYF is eclectic and wouldn't work for Firefly's demo. But common Goldenvoice acts this year like The xx, Future Islands, Alt J, and Father John Misty should have been no brainers.

this is what is odd about Goldenvoice. The XX only played one of their fests, Alt J only 1 as well, Father John Misty again only one. The most "Goldenvoice" acts this year was Frank Ocean, twenty one pilots, Dillon Francis, and Weezer, which is such a bizarre group

This is next week, and I could not be less hyped. Last two years I was useless at work leading up to this. We had big groups (4-5 cars) in previous years, this year my group is 5 people. It'll still be fun, here's hoping the weather is nice.

Well there just isn't as much to be hyped about. Last year had Disclosure, Tame Impala, M83, Earth Wind & Fire, Chvrches, Flogging Molly, etc in that always important 5-20 range. This year? Weezer, The Shins, Glass Animals, Phantogram.... uh Franz Ferdinand? Even then Weezer, Glass Animals, and Phantogram have already played here. Most of the stuff that's exciting isn't even new to Firefly.
But enough negativity, we are less than a week away!

Same. I keep waiting for the excitement to kick in, and now we're just a few days away. Instead of "I can't wait for Disclosure!" I'm thinking, "I guess it'll be cool to see Flume?"
The weather forecast hasn't been too consistent. Just last night, it looked like mid-80's and sunny each day. Now it looks like rain is possible Wed. and Fri. with Thursday being cooler.
Anybody figure out their daily schedule yet? Still trying to figure out anything on Friday before Franz Ferndinand.
Debating coming out just for Friday to see my buddy in Foriegn Air, so them. Bob Moses is pretty decent live. Heard good things about Klanstof as well but have never seen them.
Thurs: Wilderado > Pardison Fontaine > K Flay or OAR (whoever my group sees) > first half of Anna Lunoe > some of Kaleo > Glass Animals
Fri: (hang out in camping until 3? Maybe see Foreign Air and Dreamers?) > Kaiydo > AFI? > Bob Moses > Franz Ferdinand > Lil Dicky or Banks (can't decide) > Weezer > Miike Snow > (camping) > Flume > end of Matoma
Sat: Taylor Bennett > Muna > T-Pain > Magic Giant? > Sunflower Bean > Francis & The Lights > Capital Cities? > Sunflower Bean > Bob Dylan > Cashmere Cat or Galantis (haven't decided) > Weeknd > Chance
Sun: Busta Rhymes > Roadkill Ghost Choir or Strumbellas (maybe both?) > Hamilton Leithauser > Bleachers > Bishop Briggs? > first 15 min of 30 Seconds to Mars > Hamilton Leithauser > first 30/40 min of Shins > rest of Phantogram > Muse > Dillon Francis
i got an email about the next price increase. i find it hysterical thy have the balls to send that knowing that they are literally giving away tix by the hundreds in tons of giveaways.

you better pick Galantis especially if you like Miike SNow its a gimmie.

Looks like the weather is gonna be a little rough this weekend. Are they required to evacuate everyone if there is a t-storm in the area like they did for KOL two years ago?

Only if it's that bad, but from the look of things I doubt it get's to that point. Prob just rain during the day on Friday and then maybe a scattered storm at some point Sat/Sun. The storm in 2015 was basically a tropical storm.

Depends on the severity/if there is lightning in the area. There will be a lot of unhappy teens (half the attendance this year) if Twenty One Pilots gets cancelled.

Awesome, thanks for the info! Have been reading a little of the thread and I am in the same boat as most of you are. This lineup is lack luster this year for sure... DogFishHead brewery might be getting more business from me this year than usual.

The real issue aside from Thunderstorms is drainage - the woodlands does it terribly. Sat/Sunday of 2015 was other worldy bad (i literally lost a shoe, the mud ate it).
If the rain is bad on Wednesday then this could be disastrous. An already soft ground with 60,000 people incoming for 3 days of rain in the forecast this weekend.

I remember 2015, the pathway was a complete mudfest when everything was said and done. I prefer the dustbowl of 2014 to the rain and mud of 2015

I think mg can back me up but I believe Firefly drastically improved the drainage after 2015.

I remember them talking about it last year. I believe that's what the massive amount of rocks were for on the paths in between the Lawn Stage and Backyard Stage areas. I don't remember it raining last year to test it out though.

They definitely fixed the Pathway last year making it gravel - really great move there.
Not sure what they can do about the stage areas which got bad. But hey it's a camping festival in the woods - if it rains it's gonna get muddy.
Not to anybody's surprise, but they have told those that need to know that attendance is expected to be significantly down this year. Trying to see if I can get an actual number.

Yea no surprise, I figured on 60k compared to likely 75k last year and 85k in 2015.
