its pretty obvious we wont be getting many wild exclusives, but just going down the released lineups, i think we could get a solid/realistic lineup from mostly stealing what everyone else is booking.

Love that lineup but no way Firefly gets the Avalanches
It's really solid and would definitely get me to go. But ugh. It's wishful thinking but I just wish it was more diverse than the other lineups we've seen. Moral of the story I guess is that festival diversity is dead in 2017.

Nice job, I think this is the most realistic I've seen so far. I'm really hoping we get another headliner in front of 21p which would really make this solid, but that's probably unrealistic at this point.
So firefly vets, sell me on this festival. If the lineup is better than Roo it's on my radar for June festival.
i mean the lineup is all opinion based, but to speak to the rest of it, i really like the fest after 2016. 2015 had some MAJOR issues. Extremely long water lines (Only had 3 water stations for 90k people) now there are a good bit more and i never waited more than 5 minutes for water. Theres a giant enclosed tent called the Beercade, which is exactly what it sounds like. Beer and a ton of Arcade Games. Theres a main stage (Firefly), 2 stages similar to coachellas Outdoor Theatre or Bonnaroos Which (Backyard, Lawn), another smaller stage (Porch) and two mini stages where acts on the lineup tend to perform for a second time (The Coffee House and Treehouse stage, which is actually in the woods and had an M83 DJ set last year.) Also a pavillion mainly for shiz edm and hip hop, but has hosted some good acts like Odesza, RTJ, Porter & Gryffin (Pavillion). Schedule is usually pretty forgiving, absolute worst last year was Porter vs Tame though. The venue is really nice, just tons of trees and plenty of grass/shady areas. They added art installations last year which was cool, nothing coachella size but it added a bit of diversity to the grounds and was a good meeting spot if your with a big group of friends. Late nights aren't as packed as roo but it does go till 2 am. The crowd does have its college bros but its not any worse than any other fest i've been to. Just avoid acts like Major Lazer and you'll be fine. Food is really solid, Island Noodles are my favorite. We wont be getting U2 but Muse and Twenty One Pilots (who I personally think put on a good show) are heavily rumored.
heres the treehouse stage

I'll try to add onto that a little. GA camping is a pretty decent hike from the festival gates(15-20 mins), so the earlier you get there the better. The venue itself is great, tons of space, not super packed. Sound is always great. Like pepe said, the schedule is usually pretty solid, and they've been expanding LN in recent years. Crowd is usually pretty good, main demo are college kids, but you'll run into a lot of adults in VIP. For the price and proximity, I've gone every year I've lived in Philly.

If you camp, do the premier camping. I've camped since 2013 and premier is the way to go.
On the fest itself: I like it but I'm biased because it plays a nostalgia factor. Definitely a younger crowd but the grounds are huge and there's a lot to do
Firefly gets more shit than I think is deserved. If you like the lineup you'll have a good time. I'm hoping the lineup is good because this is definitely in play for me this year. Firefly was my first festival so it will always be on my radar.
My wife and I normally do the Roo then Firefly back to back. This year we have our honeymoon so money is tight. Even if money wasn't an issue I think we would skip Roo anyways. I'm holding out hope Firefly brings a decent lineup. We may go for day passes if they have them but if they get Muse and 2 decent headliners with a decent undercard we may go all in for the weekend.

Never been to Roo so I can't compare, but I can say I've been to quite a few festivals (GB, Pano, Lolla, WH) and Firefly is my favorite.
1. The settings is great. It's in the woods and it's spread out nicely with a lot of room. It's really beautiful at night with all the lights and trees.
2. I think last year they really hit their stride with using all the space right. They have stages that are super secluded in the woods and it's really special to see a band play a second set there. The late night really adds to this with shows going to 2AM now. Last year was great in this sense.
3. Last year they added "Treehouse Sets" and "Acoustic sets" which really helped alleviate conflicts. They actually get a ton of the acts in the undercard (3rd line to 8th line) to play a second set and it's really cool.
4. The kid/bro vibe that people love to touch on around here is a bit unfair and overblown in my opinion. High School kids and teenyboppers are a much bigger problem at Gov Ball and Lolla. Firefly has a good deal of college kids but that's fine, it's when I started going. It's a big party, but it's not obnoxious.
5. The amenities and extras were fantastic last year. No bathroom lines. They have a full arcade and Dogfish beer tent which are great.
It's just a really fun festival. I get the feeling it doesn't have a specific feel like Coachella (cool kids, style) or 'roo (vibez), but it just feels like you're at camp. If the lineup is good you should definitely check it out.
Thanks guys. What's the benefit of premier camping?
You are much closer to everything, it is worth every penny. Or you can just be a dick and buy them to flip for 5 times the price like I've seen many people do in the past (don't actually do this).
There's no way Firefly would book Tool, right? That would make no sense to me.
I think they would only book Tool as a power move. It wouldn't fit their aesthetic at all but given the predictions so far it could be an out-of-left-field-while-still-reasonable booking (in place of Muse).
Thanks guys. What's the benefit of premier camping?

You enter, with no line, about 2 minutes from the Main Stage.
Compare this to general camping, where its about a 20 minute walk to the entrance, up to a 40 minute wait to get through security, and then a 15 minute walk from the entrance to the Main Stage.
Thanks guys. What's the benefit of premier camping?
We were right in line 8AM on Wed and from my (premier) camping spot I could literally throw a football and hit the festival entrance gates. It's worth every penny to avoid walking across the bridge of death in the south entrance, even if you can't show up until Wed night. It's still closer than most of the best south camping spots.
BTW, if anyone remembers a truck that had a built on platform right near entrance where the main road cuts in (row 5 to be exact), that was us. It was fun standing on top of that and looking out.

Best part about Firefly for me last year was free booze and massages for press. Was triple-fisting drinks and handing two off to my friends/making new friends all weekend. Ended up waking up in GLAMPING in a bed with these two Canadian girls (nothing happened) after Thursday night from making friends by handing extra drinks after I lost my friends.
So is premier camping called something else on their website or is not showing?
It looks like they are calling it "Wednesday tent camping" this year. Every other year they have called it premier camping. Probably best that they changed the name anyway, there's always people thinking "premier" = "VIP".
