Just so you know I've heard that red frog is at it again. That's why they are silent with the lineup.
If by at it again, you mean 0 communication, atrocious PR, failing on promised dates and being incredibly delayed, especially compared to their competition, then yes, that's not at all a surprise.

Could you give a little more context about "red frog is at it again"? That could be interpreted as a good thing. As messy as the 2015 lineup release was, it lead to a really strong group of headliners.
the same guy just commented on facebook with "That was me that posted that on Reddit. As far as I know, nobody has an idea of when the lineup is dropping. I'm all about playing the hype game to get the community around Firefly built up, but will not openly come out and say anything. Maybe if they come out with a release date I would be more willing to talk, but as of now, I respect Firefly and the person who told me, and I'm not letting out anymore info."
Strokes also totally fits his description. I guess it could also be Vampire Weekend but I'd consider that less likely.
I think if VW were playing anything it would be a NY festival or Coachella, but that would be awesome.

FUCK i'm attending BKS Festival overseas the same weekend as Firefly, and this wait is obnoxious. Just fucking release the Firefly lineup so I can cross off acts that won't be in Europe then FUCK.
How on earth can you be attached with Goldenvoice and AEG and still have problems booking. Every fest has to do this, and yet this operation has messed up for the 2nd time in 3 years.

We still don't know that something is actually wrong. The release date could have been later this month all along. That said it certainly has a similar feel to it all the sudden as it did in 2015.

Don't you think you guys are jumping to conclusions a bit prematurely? Sure, we all remember the lineup debacle of 2015, but that doesn't mean history is repeating itself. It's still only January 17. Besides, the days of big fanfare surrounding lineup releases are pretty much over. Bonnaroo ditched BLAM, and the Coachella, Gov Ball, and Hangout lineups were released without a prior announcement.

i mean not even a mention of firefly at their sponsored show last night isn't a good sign.

I think were a bit overreacting, but their lack of communication makes absolutely no sense to me. Not just at the show, but in general.

True, but even if they are having a booking issue, what good does it do to freak out about it on a daily basis? Reddit is already in full meltdown mode with several posts a day bitching about the fact that the lineup hasn't been released. It's unfortunate, but these things happen. At least they didn't prematurely commit to a lineup release date like in 2015.

Yeah, but you could say the same for most of the festivals that have released their lineups thus far. The only festival that's particularly active on social media is Bonnaroo, and most of those tweets were stupid posts about vibes and radiating positivity.

Eh, agree to disagree. When a festival leaks something to festive owl, or any of the other insiders, its so the public can know while the festival stays deceptive. Roo, Shaky Knees, Coachella all had leaks that were telling people an estimate of the time when the festival was going to drop. Theres been no news from Firefly at all, leaked or announced. Why they havent announced anything is up for debate, but it could very well be that there is some issue why they cant tell anyone anything
They are def having booking issues. I had one friend say it so I checked with another and he confirmed. Basically somebody fell through and they are trying for a replacement.

Muse drops. Calvin Harris replaces.
21P - The Weeknd - Calvin Harris
Edit
Seriously though, if Muse dropped and the rest of the headliners sucked to begin with I might dip out. There is nobody realistic they would book that would compensate that loss.

Any idea who fell through?
I'm pretty sure they were trying for Bey. But I can't say I have concrete evidence of that.

If this is true, this is not terrible news. Figure out the replacement, then roll out the lineup.

I lean more towards they know there is nothing spectacular out there lineup wise & will take their time to get something good out. Plus they are established in the Northeast and attendees will wait before they decide to go somewhere else.
