Not sure if anyone else is in the same boat but my concern is lodging. We have gone all 5 years (ga camp, front-row, Wed. premier, glamp, hotel - in that order) from NJ, we'll be looking to hotel or stay at a place nearby again if the lineup delivers. Kind of a chicken-and-egg scenario right now. Given the other lineups out now, Osheaga would probably be the only one that could dethrone our annual trip but they're usually not out until late-February. Each day I keep seeing hotel rooms come-and-go, it's more nerve-racking from that standpoint.
Lucky for me (with sarcasm) my group is usually all about the acts that get bashed on here continually so I'm sure they'll be thrilled.
i may have an extra hotel room.. i booked a few for pretty cheap, just waiting to see what happens when the lineup comes
Does it make me a bad person if I hope you back out?! Definitely keep me updated on the situation - thanks!
Right, but they can't communicate information that isn't there. The biggest problem is everyone is looking at last year. How many festivals drop their lineup 8 months in advance? I'm sure it happens, but not often. Also, aren't most of those fests before Firefly? Again, please don't get it twisted. I'm not blindly sticking up for Firefly (something people have grown pretty fond of accusing me of over the years), but the fact is the lineup isn't late by any stretch. If they say it will be out on "x" and then can't deliver on it, don't you think that would start a shiz storm of epic proportions?
they cant tweet "hey guys, lineup coming soon!" or at least stay somewhat engaged on social media? maybe do clues for undercard acts? give people a reason to be excited for when the lineup eventually drops, not annoyed by its delay. its not that hard.
No, I totally get what you're saying, I promise I do. A lot of it comes down to expectations. Sometimes the more you put out there in the social media ether, the more you can set yourself up for a fall. If we posted "Lineup coming soon!", then that automatically starts the theoretical and subjective clock on what some view as "soon". Right now, they are dealing with items that would finalize a "packaged" lineup for presentation to the fans. The reasons that keep a lineup from being posted are legitimate ones, I promise you that. Whether it's a legal/contractual issue or something else, they have to follow certain guidelines the same way any other business has to when conducting business. It shouldn't be much longer though

An answer like this is really all we were asking for lol. Thank you Mike

im sure they have their reasoning. its just so random as they were being very engaged over social media with the 2016 performance tournament, then the announcement of fan curation, and as every other fest announces their lineup, FF stayed dead silent, even through their own event. This will all be forgotten the second the lineup drops though, as long as its sometime in January.

Haha! Well, i appreciate that. I'm excited for the season to get rolling too. I hope it was helpful.
You might as well just accept that 21P and Marshmello will be at Firefly.
Totally on-board with booking whomever, just at the right cost. I think I'm in the majority from what I've read when I say as long as they're not overpaid / over-billed on the line-up.
For the record I'm cool with repeats to a degree, they're inevitable. But with stuff like Odesza.. c'mon they were there two years ago, there has to be someone else with a similar sound and price range that can be booked. 21P.. Seen em' twice at Firefly already. Fun show for what it was, but it was the same exact show.. twice.
Really hoping they can pull some cool ish and get acts like Nora en Pure or Claptone to show up.
Nora en Pure seems likely considering they booked Matoma in 2015. Claptone is a bit of a stretch but I'd welcome with open arms.
Still sour that the Matoma set got cancelled. I had a great plan to bail on my friends (who were going to see Aoki) to check out Matoma and then head over to Lettuce. Instead, I got shafted into going to see Shaun Frank by myself on Sunday afternoon while they went to Aoki. If anyone was at the Shaun Frank one.. well you and I probably made up 25% of the crowd.

I walked by that Steve Aoki set. I still can't believe (but really can) that there were that many people there for a Sunday 2PM Steve Aoki show. That was just about as packed as any stage was the whole weekend, aside from the main stage of course

Mat.Joe, Vanilla Ace.. these are the types of DJs/producers that should be considered for filling out the bottom of lineups. I'm trying to think out of the ordinary.. no one would have guessed Solidisco, Bot or Goldroom going into years past. Mat Zo is another name I'd like to see out there.
Disclaimer: I'm truly like 80% alt rock / rock heavy, but these are the guys that round out the guilty pleasure that is the other 20%.

Third Eye Blind is touring with Silversun Pickups - the gap in these dates around Firefly would make sense for one of or both of them:
June 16 - Charlotte, NC - Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre June 17 - Raleigh, NC - Red Hat Amphitheater June 21 - Boston, MA - Blue Hills Bank Pavilion
