I know this is highly doubtful, because i feel like they don't really fit Firefly's target demo, but it would be sick if they got LCD next year. I feel like Firefly is usually a year behind and picks up a lot of acts that hit the festival circuit hard the year before that they missed out on. Wishful thinking, I know.
I'd imagine LCD would be very cool in the forest! Especially at night. You mention a good point about FF being a year behind. I'm afraid they may be a little obscure for the festival's main audience. They could draw a decent crowd, hopefully.
I'd love to see LCD for a third time lol. They canceled some dates to record an album so it's not out of the range of possibilities for next year. Still more unlikely than likely though probably.

Arcade Fire/Green Day/Skrillex/Twenty One Pilots
TOP is happening .....unfortunately
and Arcade fire and Green Day are gonna be everywhere next year, and fit the mold so perfectly I think they're also almost a lock. And Skrillex is just crazy overdue.
he/they '12 - Firefly '13 - Firefly, Made In America '14 - Firefly, Made In America '15 - Mountain Jam (Sunday), Firefly, Pitchfork, Made In America '16 - Boston Calling, Firefly, Osheaga, Made In America, Roots Picnic NYC '17 - Boston Calling, Gov Ball, Firefly (Sunday), Pitchfork, Day For Night '18 - Boston Calling, Mountain Jam, Osheaga '19 - Form, Firefly (Sunday) '22 - Boston Calling, Firefly '24 - Solid Sound, Soundside
and Arcade fire and Green Day are gonna be everywhere next year, and fit the mold so perfectly I think they're also almost a lock. And Skrillex is just crazy overdue.
i dont know, after this giant world tour I wouldnt be surprised if TOP took the summer off to record another album and have it out by early 2018. but if this was the lineup TOP would headline over Skrillex

Twenty One Pilots are a headliner in 2017, especially at fests like Hangout and Firefly. They're pulling 40,000 plus at Roo and Lolla as a mid day main stage act. Now with all the success of their singles, the fact that they haven't played Firefly since one of the most talked about sets in Firefly history, and the fact that they will be touring early next year again: I would be shocked to see them less than Top 3 at Firefly. Yes I'm a fan, but I really think they scream Firefly fandom.
Another act I think makes a lot of sense here would be Coldplay. They just did their big US tour, but they didn't play any US fests except Made in America. With that catalog, that fanbase, and the fact that they're going on hiatus similar to The Killers in 2015: Coldplay makes a lot of sense closing out Firefly in 2017.
I'm not expecting a legacy act in 2017. I really don't ever see Pearl Jam playing this festival or any smaller scale festival. Eddie is pretty selective. I mean they don't festival whore at all. Rolling Stones....no way! Maybe Metallica, but might be too ballsy for Red Frog. If anything maybe Elton John.
I am expecting a top tier hip hop headliner. Kanye or Drake should be headlining this thing. Both would get hate and love, and both would instantly sell this fest out. Something they have had trouble doing. Both have long catalogs and the buzz for both acts would send Firefly fans into a frenzy.
Add in an average to slightly better than average undercard, and I really think Firefly could get more traction than they've seen in years.
So my final guess would be....
Drake-Coldplay-Twenty One Pilots-Lorde-Skrillex-Bastille-Chainsmokers-Future-The shins-Kesha-G Eazy-Empire of the Sun-Desiigner-Young the Giant-Tears for Fears-Sleigh Bells-Grouplove-X Ambassadors-Rae Stremurd-Paramore-Jimmy Eat World
TOP is not top 3 (Maybe a #4 act for FF) and I doubt Drake is the #1. Firefly has never had a hip hop headliner much less a hip hop #1. It's mainly a generic alt festival with sprinkles of hip hop and edm.
If bassnecter played do we actually think they would headline? Honest question. They seem like a good fit for late night backyard a la zedd 2015.
He was 8 at Bonnaroo 2015. His fans are crazy loyal and will literally follow him anywhere. I don't think he has the same widespread appeal as a Deadmau5 at 4, but he has headlined similar all genres fests.

Not exactly true. They booked Outkast in 2014. And I wouldn't put it past them to try to book someone like Eminem or Kendrick Lamar. Those two would probably move a lot of tickets.

Ah good catch. Not sure how I glossed over that looking at the past lineups. I would too agree that someone like Kendrick is way more likely.

Jesus Christ. That's worse than this year's Life is Beautiful lineup.

i love how bastille is barely top 5 lines at other fests yet everyone understands that FF would book them top 6.

I was thinking about Bruce last night. This would get all of New Jersey to Firefly and it would probably sell out. Not sure how likely it is though.
I would love to Kendrick on the bill, but not without some new material.
Jack U us going a hiatus for a while according to Skrillex. I don't think Grizmatik has enough mainstream appeal to be the main electronic act to close the festival. I see them more as a Pavilion act.

In 2015 they were going to have The White Panda close the festival before the storm disrupted the schedule, so I think anything is possible. Grizmatik was probably more wishful thinking, but they would offer something different than the typical EDM that will be on the rest of the time.

I think we know that has nothing to do with White Panda's popularity but whatever relationship they have with people at Red Frog

i know Bruce is loved but i dont think he would draw enough the older crowd (30+). He would draw if they had daily passes but im not so sure about 3 days especially if the other headliners are shitty. Hes not exactly a tough act to catch on the east coast most years.
[URL/http://ultimateclassicrock.com/bruce-springsteen-new-album-2016/] Since Springsteen is apparently putting out a solo record soon, that could be interesting.
Side note: Anyone definitely think Paramore and ZHU are definitely happening?

If it's a one off show and his only festival show on the east coast, I could see it being a big draw, however, don't think he'd like being capped at 2, 2 and half hours.

Looks pretty realistic, but I'd replace Jack U with someone Skrillex, Kaskade, or Bassnectar (I think Jack U is taking a long break), and move Haim up to the second line (they were top 10 at Hangout, Bonnaroo, and Gov Ball this year). As far as other undercard acts, I think The Shins and Chromeo are decent possibilities. Maybe Phoenix for a pre-headlining slot if they return with a new album next year.

Yeah, I'd be shocked if Firefly doesn't book Phoenix on their next round of touring. They have a reputation for great live performances, and they're quite popular with the Millennial generation.

I think you're underestimating how many people of all ages who either grew up listening to the boss or had parents who did---especially on the east coast. He seems like a very safe legacy for FF.

im not underestimating at all. i live in Philly, i know how big he is on the east coast. But i cant see the older demo committing to a 3 day camping festival made up of mostly millenials just to see him play one night with less production and time. Bruce is like a god in my neighborhood bu i doubt most would go travel to firefly for it. i could be wrong but then again i dont expect him to be booked.
