I seem to like this lineup a lot more than most everyone on here. I mean, at least they got some stuff others didn't. And I believe this will sell well based on the top line alone. They at least tried to pay a bit of attention to folks who have used a rotary phone. Bob Dylan is not always bad now as some have said, though he is definitely not good sometimes. The top reminds me of a Lolla lineup.
It's cool to see Busta on a bill. Muse is rare these days. Dylan is a great get if he's topped their legends poll. Hamilton Leithauser is cool. It definitely trails off quickly, but with that top line they don't need much to move units. Check New Madrid if you like My Morning Jacket or The War on Drugs. Repeat Repeat is good too.
I honestly wish this was Bonnaroo's lineup.
I've come around on it. It probably isn't as bad as I thought when I first looked at it. They didn't do themselves any favors by using that stupid font and listing the 40 or whatever artists that will be playing at the hub.
I just wish they could have used the Beyonce money better. I understand booking the Weeknd (as much as I hate it), but Dylan is about the last legacy act I'd want booked. It was probably my own undoing to get excited about who was going to replace Beyonce.
I'm just going through the lineup, listening to the artists to see which ones I like and I'm on AFI. I forgot how much of a fucking jam Miss Murder was.

The like song or 2 I have heard from the new album is hard but not Emo hard like those albums. Trust me I'm looking forward to them!
Wait T-Pain is actually in a bunch of hits that I didn't realize. Blame It, Kiss Kiss, Cyclone, 2 Step. I feel like I am back at a middle school dance.

do you want firefly to feel like a middle school dance?

I don't know about you, but middle school dances were the shit at my school. So, yes.
I looked at the lineup again and counted 25 artist I want to see or would like to see. That's without delving into the unknown to find new artist. 2016 had 28 artist and 2015 had 27-28 so I'm close to on par. 2014 was huge for me but then I think about the 34 artist i would see and like 7 or 8 of them were unknown back then and only in the last 2 years have made the leap.
I just found an interesting artist on this lineup. His name is Taylor Bennett and he is Chance the Rapper's brother.
He must have been free like everybody else on this lineup from the 8th line down
FWIW, Taylor Bennett is actually a pretty damn good musician. I am pretty excited to see him on the bill, should be a great daytime hip hop act, and will more than likely bring chance out(just like Vic Mensa did back in 2014)

I listened to his album last night and he is super good. Sounds like Chance but his voice isn't as raspy. I think he is a great get and hopefully he will bring out Chance since they have a song together.

One thing I love about Firefly this year is the variety. 9/10 I disregard the EDM, but there's some good stuff here like Galantis, OddKidOut, Flume, just to name a few. No Marshmello in sight....thank goodness! Wasn't expecting Miike Snow at all, he hasn't really popped up anywhere this year since he was everywhere last year. Hell Roo didn't even get him. Franz Ferdinand hasn't played this before. Neither has 30seconds to Mars, or AFI. There's at least 6-7 solid lines of music, and a lot of discovery. Take a look at bonnapoo(which hurts to say because I went in 2014 and 2016 and had a blast), and that is a mess. Firefly's lineup has always played it safe, but this year they picked a varied amount of talent that for the most part isn't playing everywhere. Every fest this year with the exception of a few, just blended in. Firefly wants to separate themselves from the pack, and it's honestly one of the more exciting lineups of 2017. I like it better than Hangout, Sasquatch, Shaky, Roo, Forecastle, and Okeechobee.
Firefly's lineup has always played it safe, but this year they picked a varied amount of talent garbage that for the most part isn't playing everywhere.
Firefly doesn't deserve brownie points for booking mediocre or shitty acts just because they aren't playing other festivals.

No one's forcing you to go. I just think a lot of people want a reason to complain in a rather uninspired fest year.

I'd rather not complain. The mid card is loaded with DJs and rappers who sound exactly the same to each other. But I also understand I'm clearly not in the target demographic. Firefly is gambling on 16-22 yr olds coming and spending a lot of money this year.

Which is a mistake, at least from what I remember from that study they did last year (wish I had the link). The people that spend the most money are the ones aged 25-40 (or something like that) that come every year and splurge for VIP and all the extra/more expensive stuff. They are the money makers. They don't represent the majority of the attendees, but they actually represent more spending as a whole.
That said I'm a bout 90% to go again and just make the best of it. I represent that 25-40 splurge demographic lol.

im in the 16-22 demographic and i just cant justify dropping the $$$ for this. my friends and I all love the panorama lineup a lot more, which seems to be skewed towards an older audience.
I'm going. Bro likes the lineup and I'm sure drinking until 5 when there are acts I wanna see will be fun.
I'm putting together a mock and yea... it's hard to envision anything worth seeing before around 4PM. That said, Friday and Saturday will have co-headliners so it may push some of the acts earlier into the day. Right now I have it as 21P/The Weeknd on Friday and Bob Dylan/Chance on Saturday. They will put all four on the main stage, so you have to have some sort of 2016 Florence/Deadmau5 like scheduling to make it work.

It's like Firefly artist "Dude Ranch & The Girl At The Rock Show" always says, "Well I guess this is growing up!"

For my tastes shaky knees won the undercard battle and Boston calling won the headliners battle. Going to both.
Going for muse day to FF. That's it. It is so easy for me. I have a hotel reserved on points. It's a simple straight 2 hour drive. And I have no idea how I would fill a full 3.5 days at this. Discovery is fun. But it shouldn't be 3/4 of the event
