Oh and to touch on the LN Which discussion - Future might be big but his catalog is not, the last major rapper on Which LN was Ice Cube; which is a good reference point. They could make a bet on Future because of current popularity, but a That Tent show still sounds more realistic IMO. And that shit garbage anyway, he'd lose folks like Weezy did. AND The Roots going back to the Which stage is like expecting MMJ to do that; it's just not going to happen - The Roots have had 2 What Stage performances; one of them being a pre-HL. Dreams are nice, but logistics unfortunately wins out because we've never had an act back up into Which or a Tent after playing What.

I feel like Future is more popular than The Roots.

As you know popularity doesn't mean a good show; I just don't even see The Roots coming back for awhile to my shagrin. But hey, like I've said before, since the LN major stake buyout - I can't make heads or tails of how they are doing booking. Could Future play Which a la Lil Wayne. Yes. It's not inconceivable.

Yeah but popularity has more of a connection to what stage people play than how good they are. Plus Future is still pretty critically acclaimed.

So are you thinking Future would be on the What Stage? Just clearing up what we are debating at this point?
Yeah, I wouldn't say The Roots could play Which if it was any other slot than LN and that is only because of the conflicts that come with getting a LN slot. All they have to do is put The Roots closing the LN Which at the same time as some garbage like DJ Snake or some other awful EDM in a tent and then either have another garbage EDM artist or something more rare/unique (along the lines of Nick Cave/Darkside/Swans/) and the crowd could certainly fit in the Which Field. Also, Future would easily play LN Which, and that's coming from someone that doesn't like a single song by him
Edit: or just have the Roots play the Which while conflicting with Jack Ü on the What, a la EW&F/Deadmau5
I have a hard time seeing how they don't put Chance in the late night spot next year. He seems to be the one consistent piece of positive PR that has come out of this years Roo and I can just imagine the marketing they would do around a "late night" Chance set. They would hype up the appearance of different "special guest" and it would stop them from having to break the bank on a Tier 1 rap artist.
Also not to be a shit but Logic is biracial not white. Small thing but just thought it should be said.
Didn't he play 2015? Hope he doesn't come back so soon.
Wouldn't be too surprising considering how much he's blown up since. Plus I think his latest album dropped after Roo but I'm not too well versed in G Eazy trivia
This is kinda my thinking. Seeing him popping up pretty high up at Vodoo and Bumbershoot, and even Lolla. Like i said i don't want it either, but i don't think Chance would be billed higher than him, not sure who would be.

I remember when I got Tidal I was looking through their curated playlists, there was one called "The best of Future" or something. It was like 4hrs long lol

He has 4 studio albums and about 10 mixtapes.
I guess I'm not hip enough to know. Also I guess you missed the part where I said he could play Which. But I disagree about the What Stage, but then again I don't follow that shit

I was just commenting on that sentence about his catalog size because Future is known for putting out a lot of material quickly. I'm not sure where he would play at Bonnaroo, I don't even think they would book him at all.
Assuming there will be a rapper(s) in the top 10 I would guess they want one or two of: Drake, Childish Gambino, Missy Elliot, G-Eazy, Chance The Rapper, Schoolboy Q, ASAP Rocky.

Yea, don't get me wrong I like mixtape rappers too because they keep on their grind.. Curren$y is another one that we are skipping over who falls into that category. I also think that booking Future ISN'T out of the question, maybe an odd choice for us, but not in relation to the direction they've been booking.
I have big ups for Missy and Schoolboy Q making into the lineup; but not as strong hopes as I would like. Missy needs to drop that album and Schoolboy infamously doesn't like touring for too long.
@radiatebased - with the Digable Planets reunion tour going on now - it would be awesome, but I don't know how long they are going to continue with it. But they have a bit more leeway contractually because, the half that's in Shabazz Palaces has an album by album type contract with Young Turks. But it would blow my mind to end up with like Digable Planets and De La Soul on the same ticket. and then shiiiet if you could pull Missy and/or Schoolboy - they might instantly sell me a ticket

Haven't seen his name bandied about much here, but I've been enjoying Joey Purp a lot since he got added to Lolla. Get that young man on the farm doing Girls @ with Chance and I'll be happy
