Moving Pictures came out when I was in high school. They played the shit out of it. Everyone. People walking around saying, “Rush, Fucking A.” . I was a fan way before that (Permanent Waves, 2112, Hemispheres plus the old shit like Fly By Night, Rush the first album (which I don’t think Peart was on - could be wrong) and Caress of Steel were up there too. But other than Limelight and Tom Sawyer, I still love a lot of Moving Pictures.

This shit blows.
yeah he came in on fly by night as the songwriter/drummer
Got in some of 2112 and all of Permanent Waves taking down the Christmas Tree. I remember being a little head back when I was about 15 and how much I loved A Passage to Bangkok. So I’ll leave this with full respect:
The first stop is in Bogata to check Colombian fields. The natives smile and pass along a sample of their yields. Sweet Jamaican pipe dreams, golden Acapulco nights, then Morocco and the east, fly by morning light.
We’re on the train to Bangkok, aboard the Thailand Express. We hit the stops along the way, we only stop for the best.
I had forgotten about this thread until yesterday and was glad to see Neil Peart mentioned. My dad grew my sisters and I up on Rush (along with Zeppelin, Floyd, and Supertramp). We kids pretty much wore out his VHS copy of A Show of Hands and knew the lyrics to every song on Roll the Bones and Presto. I also constantly borrowed Chronicles from a friend, never thinking I should have probably just bought my own copy. There was never any question in our minds that Neil was the greatest drummer of all time. Still isn't. While I was in the Peace Corps I was loaned his book The Masked Rider: Cycling in West Africa. Even across continents, Mr. Peart's words were able to connect with me as I, unknowingly at the time, biked through some of the same areas he did. As I got older, I moved on in my musical obsessions, but always had Rush as one of those peripheral bands that I would randomly put in a CD. I had the chance to see them when I lived in Jacksonville, FL, but things came up and I didn't end up buying a ticket. When Clockwork Angels came out it rekindled my love of the band and I was finally able to see them when they did their tour around that album.
Unfortunately, I was unable to see them on their last tour because our daughter was born about two weeks before they were in our area and they obviously haven't toured since. Between this and my wife's favorite artist, Tom Petty, passing away, it is becoming more obvious that we will have fewer and fewer chances to take our daughter to see the bands that we loved growing up and helped shape us into the people we've become and that makes me sad since I have been able to have those experiences with my dad.
Today I wake up devastated. One of Kyle's friends from middle school/freshman year was murdered last week and his obituary was posted today. He was murdered exactly one month before his 21st birthday and a year before he graduated college. I have been an emotional roller coaster lately and this made me hit bottom. Hold your loved ones and close and tell them that you love them.

I saw the obituary, but it didn't go into detail. Was it a random act (since most murders usually aren't)? That sucks.

I'm so sorry. There's no reason for anyone to go so early in life. That's awful.
We shoot darts with a couple of older guys who have known his sister for forever. They said they got to know him over the years, and that he was a super nice guy. Apparently he was playing, wasn't feeling well, said "sorry" and his chin went to his chest. For us all to be so lucky going out...
Terry Jones of Monty Python has died at the age of 77.
RIP. Reading about his final years. What an awful way to go. Good that he can now rest. On top of tge show he irected and starred in two legit classics of comedic cinema. A legend.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
ABC News says his 4 daughters. Fucked up. But maybe a false claim?
Most think they were speculating, TMZ said just his 2nd oldest, with Rick fox and pilots, possibly just a pilot and another person, would line up with the initial reports of 5 passengers
