That Welcome to Houston set isn't getting enough love. If they bring the hits, it could be a good time.
Also, Nothing seems random, but I'm pleased to see them here.
I got it #4 on my early bird want to see. I haven't seen any of those fux yet so I'll get to knock 4 or 5 rappers I've wanted to see for a while plus all the rest of em who I didn't know of or much of. Bun B, Devin the Dude, Paul Wall, Keke, Mike Jones, etc. shits gonna rule. This is actually likely to be a fairly heavy hip hop and experimental fest for me.
Silver Studios which is a series of movie set warehouses. They said it was indoor/outdoor, so I don't know how much area they used for the installations, stages, etc.
Interesting. Hopefully they can go later than midnight this year if they have it mostly indoors.
It was a really interesting setup for fest. They dedicated a lot of the budget / festival space to light installations, and I loved that - there was always something fun to do. I hope Day for Night keeps the same focus on art at its new site.
Is that confirmed though? They're playing in San Fransisco on the 17, seems like it would be easier for him to just fly down and play solo on the 18th.

Someone said it was buried in a Facebook comments thing way back. (llz I think maybe).

I think that was about the possibility of selling out.
I'm glad to see they'll be going til 2 am each night, that's way later than I expected.
I have a feeling this is going to be a pretty wild weekend.
Also, 42 people have booked a room at Club Quarters in the past 48 hours on Travelocity. The price has also gone up about $55 for a 3 night stay since last night as well. They have sold out of the "club" sized rooms, which were the cheapest. The cheapest there now, the "standard", (but a larger room) is $55 more than the club for 3 nights.

I'm really excited for this set. I grew up in Houston, and listened to a lot of those artists in high school. Never thought I'd be seeing Lil Flip, Paul Wall, and Michael Watts at this point in my life. They've actually got a pretty nice selection of artists for this set.
Have yall tried VR? That technology is mind blowing in the most mundane and basic production, so add a world class musician snd amazing visuals and it could def be worthwhile. Or it could completely miss....well all see!
It seems fitting that last week some guys from Google who are working on VR stuff for schools came into one of my classes to talk about it. They brought Google Cardboard (spoilered for size below) with them for us to try. Basically you slip a phone into the cardboard viewers and it creates a total 360 VR view of a picture. It was very, very cool. Very immersive. But they haven't been able to combine "personal" sound with it. Basically, right now there is no sound that mimics the way you would actually hear things if you were there. So anything that has a sound component right now is a pre-recorded thing, lacking the ability to turn away from something or walk away from something and have the sound "around" you change.
It was very nifty though. It is amazing what they can do with this shit now. Can't imagine what Bjork's thing will be like, since I'm sure she'll have something much more immersive than cardboard view finders....

It's showing it's $214 for 3 nights right now on Booking.com for a standard (1 Queen beed) room.
edit: it is taking everything in me right now to NOT buy a room and ticket... our trip to Asia isn't actually booked yet, but this is the weekend after we plan on leaving... it is so tempting. but i know i can't... UGH!!!!

Monie and I stayed there last year and quite enjoyed it. Perfectly comfortable, clean, and centrally located. And with a trippy-ass lobby to boot (it's the little things). It was also just around the corner from a great brewpub called The Flying Saucer that I didn't get to spend nearly enough time in.

You are right. That other link was the possibility of a sell out. But if they are playing San Francisco on the 17th, I'd hope the 18th would be that live band set. I watched a couple of other live songs, and it all sounded good. Just the same it's not booked that way, so idk warp.net/news/shobaleader-one-us-headline-dates/

True, but that's the nonrefundable price and pretax too. Standard for $250 nonrefundable or $312 refundable with all taxes.

Nice, been to a Flying Saucer in San Antonio before and they had a great tap selection.

Yeah it was with the Google cardboard that I watched the emersive adult entertainment. I mean, I watched some other less interesting videos, too, like a rollercoaster.
There's a time to fuck and a time to crave. But the Shah sleeps in Lee Harvey's grave. There's a time to shit and a time for God. The last shit I took was pretty fucking odd.
Sorry. I held off as long as I could with that shit.

what kinda show does rza put on?
Hard to say. He broke Stone Mecca out in the late 00's. It's a giant band with like 10 people in it, but they are kind of chill. I don't know if he's done anything with them in a while. It's gonna still be RZA either way.

RZA was weak at the Hip Hop Superjam at Roo '13. He just stumbled around drunk and mumbling. He did share his bottle with the front of the crowd and they, in turn, shared their smoke. He should be better at this with it being less free form. With all the potential conflicts, it would be hard for me to make his set.
