On Saturday, John Carpenter starts 10 minutes later, at 9:40 pm.
On Sunday, Björk Digital goes 8:20-9:50 pm and conflicts with UMO now SOPHIE between 10:20-11:10 & Arca starts a little later at 11:40 pm.
Also, Friday's Björk set is now 40 minutes.
bjork and butthole surfers only conflict for 10 minutes now. i'm totally fine with leaving bjork a tiny bit early to catch the full butthole surfers set.
Now Bjork conflicts a bit with Squarepusher, but I can still catch the first half hour of Squarepusher before Bjork. And I can see all of Kaskade and most of Arca now (I don't really care for Arca that much but whatever, its another set).
My Sunday just got a lot better. Thanks for the heads up on the schedule change.

Undecided (will wander and see where my ear takes me)
I know virtually no one on the Yellow stage besides From Beyond. Saw them open for All Them Witches last year. They're good doom/psych/space rock, but since they're Austin/Houston locals, will have plenty of other chances to see them.
Is there anyone on the Yellow stage I shouldn't miss?
3post1jack1, I am determined to finally meet you! I know we've been at countless shows together over the years at 'roo, time to put a face to a name
Does anybody know if they'll have an app for this?
Apparently there won't be an app for this (asked them on insta). They said the website will contain all the info necessary, and is optimized for mobile. And they also added that map will be released soon.

You HAVE to see anklepants!! Man, I'm sooo jealous that I can't make this fest because I didn't know about it until recently. Though, I would cry if I had to choose between John Carpenter and Aphex Twin
So glad they moved Bjork again. Won't have to miss a second of the Surfers now.
Ariel Pink, Surfers, Bjork, Blonde Redhead et al on Sunday......geeez. May be one of the best days of music for me ever. Up there with Saturday of Roo '09.
here is a link to a google play playlist that has most of the songs played when I saw the Butthole Surfers, 9/25/2009 HOB New Orleans. Who the hell knows what they'll end up playing but I think this is a good primer.

22 going on 23 is a hell of a way to open a show.
That is such a great setlist.
Wish I had been way more into their catalog at that show, same with the OEJ show in '08. Face was ripped off but it's always better when you know the songs intimately.
Anyone know of any pre-parties on Friday (besides the official one)?
Trying to decide what I want to do that night. I see Chris D'Elia is doing some shows at the Houston Improv that Fri-Sun. Considered going to that, but the tickets are $30 so haven't jumped on them.

All we found so far was the Pelicans v Hornets game, Flosstradamus at Revention Center and Jim James Band at House of Blues. We are leaning toward NBA but waiting to see if any big rap shows pop up.

Hmm, browsing that site, I discovered a local Houston venue called The Flat in Montrose. Looks like they sorta specialize in deep house. The Houston Press has them having an event on Friday, but the Flat's website has that day blank right now.
Will keep an eye on that, might be a good way to get the party going.
I'm just a casual MMJ fan, anyone know how the Jim James Band compares?
We saw Jim James Band at Hangout 2013 I think it was. It was pretty bad ass - sort of rock, sort of bluesy, sort of soulful, sort of funky/jammy. He sang, played guitar, played sax, played the piano/keyboards, etc. It was pretty solid. I was blind walking into it. I don't know that much MMJ (seen em a few times but haven't followed along) Set at Hangout was State of the Art (AEIOU), Know Til Now, Dear One, A New Life, Exploding, Of the Mother Again, Actress, All is Forgiven, God's Love to Deliver, Changing World (Jay Farrar cover). Blotter and Longinus probably know it as well as anyone.
*edit* Looks like they put out a new album last month. I didn't know about it and haven't heard it. jimjames.com/

I've been to the Flat a couple of times. I've always had a fun time when I went. Good food and drinks, and they always have good dj's that play. I wouldn't say its a place to spend the whole night, but definitely a good place to get the night started
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.
So, has anyone seen/heard anything about poster art for the fest? I'm assuming since it's Texas there will be multiple band event prints available.
How was it last year? I've only see a generic fest poster. I assume at the very least the Surfers will have one. I'm gonna go inside at gates both days regardless. Glad it's at 3pm and not noon.
I know it's far out but I checked weather and it doesn't look great for next weekend but that doesn't mean anything for real yet.
EDIT: Got to add that I would bet Ariel Pink is going to debut at least a song or two at this show, he hasn't had a full show since 2015 and this gig in L.A in October he played two new ones as well. Really recommend checking him out if you haven't already.
The most recent album, Pom Pom is a great place to start, but the two before it are also fantastic.

I'm 95% sure that Jermaine Rogers is doing a print for Aphex Twin based on: an interview he did at Designer Con recently, a live stream he did in a fb group before that, and his general excitement just before this fest announced the lineup when he found out.

Fucking love Jermaine Rogers, can't wait to see what he has in store for us.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this the first time VR/AR is being utilized at this level, if at all, at a music festival? How does D4N top this next year? WI'll we see more fests in 17 try and utilize VR/AR?

Oh hell yea, I figured he would do something but that would be perfect!

We did VR Mars 2030 experience at III Points this year.
