SOHN into Sylvan Esso at Mohawk was one of the best 1-2s I've seen in a long time. Fucking incredible. After the show this fat homeless chick with her bare tits out came up and asked for some of the fries I was eating out a trash can. I gave her a bunch.
Vince Staples at the old La Zona Rosa building for Apple Music was cool but some crazy lady couldn't handle the mosh and pulled me from my backpack yelling "STOOP STOP" (as if she couldn't just move over a little) and told some dude to go home and choke on his vomit. Other than that Vince's set production rig and sound system was one of the sickest I've ever seen/heard.
I have no idea what I'm doing tomorrow. I know Scoot Inn may be my safest bet. The Feed the Beast night shows are pretty amazing too, but idk if the night shows are badge/wristband only. I'm super bummed that the night shows at House of Vans are b/w only, which Rothric just brought to my attention today....

Edit: I just realized that NPR @ Stubb's is tonight, so I guess that could be my replacement instead of Feed the Beast...

Cool deal. I had only seen him with Chappelle before this weekend, but that set (Buku Saturday) landed in my Top 5 shows of the weekend. Glad it's not just me.

Seriously tho, I'm peeved. They told us we'd get into Pearl without badges/wristbands after they all got in and weren't at capacity. We were like the 4th set of non-wristbanded people and then they told us no entry at all even tho they hadn't even started letting people in yet. Fucking. Peeved. Everywhere else around 6th is a mad house so we're heading back to Rainey to find anywhere with music and alcohol.

That sucks. We got bored and left Rainey St around like 9:45. My friend was tired and had to work tomorrow so she wasn't so down to wait around to find something to do.... I totally would've loved to see !!! & Spoon tho. That would've been fun.

Scoot Inn was fucking awesome on Tuesday. First time at the venue, really liked it. Free Lagunitas and Independence beer at the fest, tons of great beer to chose from.
Diet Cig was a fun pop/punk show, would see them again.
Rainbow Kitten Surprise isn't the type of music I normally listen to, but I did enjoy their set. They seem like their going to get bigger during this fest season.
Night Beats didn't make their set, no idea what happened to them. They let RKS play a little long, and then had some of the circus performers on stage for a bit.
Lizzo was so fun, loved her set. First time seeing her, but will definitely make it a priority given a chance.
And then Thee Oh Sees, they were amazing like always. You know what you're getting when you go into a Thee Oh Sees show, and the crowd loved every minute of it.
It's not a SXSW without seeing Thee Oh Sees, and surprised they're only playing one this year.

I have a wristband. I did have to wait a bit at the beginning of the night at stubbs but that was because they opened the doors late. Walked right into Cheer Up Charlies, Sidewinder, and Empire at various times throughout the night.
Got into Mohawk last night for At the Drive In. So epic to see them in such a small venue. The band was in sync as ever. Cedric is hilarious. Also got to talk to Hannibal Buress there. After they finished I met a friend at Cheer Up Charlie's for the Noname and Lil Yachty shows. Noname was good but kind of rude about the crowd not knowing her music. Yachty was way more crazy than I thought he'd be. That show was really fun. Sam Herring was there. Never met a nicer frontman. Told him I wouldn't be able to catch their show this week but I'd be at the Roo set and he was really excited about playing there. Got a picture with him also.
